Josh Smith Waived – Christmas Miracles Do Come True

The Detroit Pistons just made a move I never thought they would, they just waived Josh Smith!

For those of you who have followed this blog or follow me on twitter you know that I’m not a fan of Mr. Smith, so today’s news comes as a huge surprise and an early Christmas present to many Pistons fans (and a Happy Hanukkah to those who don’t celebrate Santa!).

God bless you Mr. Van Gundy, you’re a bad ass in my eyes.

“Our team has not performed the way we had expected throughout the first third of the season and adjustments need to be made in terms of our focus and direction,” said Stan Van Gundy, Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons. “We are shifting priorities to aggressively develop our younger players while also expanding the roles of other players in the current rotation to improve performance and build for our future. As we expand certain roles, others will be reduced. In fairness to Josh, being a highly versatile 10-year veteran in this league, we feel it’s best to give him his freedom to move forward. We have full respect for Josh as a player and a person.”

For those of you who want to celebrate, please get in touch with me, @need4sheed_com, I really think we need to all get together and have a celebratory drink!

This was a bad move. It solves nothing, and it guarantees we won’t be free from Dumars’ mistakes until 2020. I’d much rather have sucked it up with this guy for another season and a half (during which the Pistons will be bad no matter what) and tried to shop his expiring contract. Nobody wants to see it, but this was a mistake. Don’t forget, the majority of people liked that awful Ben Gordon trade, too.

It’s a great move, Otis. Now watch the record improve with Monroe starting at the 4. You’re gonna just hate it. If we don’t manage to convince Greg to stay, however, I’m gonna hate it.

Bob I never thought I’d see you again. Oh well. FYI “the record improving” doesn’t mean anything when you’re 5-23. “The Pistons forming a winning team” around those guys is the only thing that registers as success, and I don’t see it happening. You think I’d hate it, but you misjudge me as always.

This team is starting to look like the Orlando Magic teams coached by SVG. Also some severance to the Phoenix Suns of 5-6 years back.

And the boys in blue are 16-10 since “J-Smoove’s departure!!!!!Just think, there’s a (somewhat dodgy) chance the Pistons will slip into the ‘Leastern” Conference’s eighth post-season berth, and even though they’ll be ousted in three games were they to make the tournament,it’d be a great learning experience for their studs such as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Andre Drummond (Senor Ka-Bong because of his power dunks.)THANKS FOR THE THREE DAYS EARLY CHRISTMAS GIFT,STAN VAN GUNDY!!!!NOW JOSH SMITH IS THE ROCKETS’ HEADACHE!!!!!!)
