The 2-5 #Pistons are in Washington to take on the 5-2 Wizards Wednesday night. The Wizards, who split the season series with Detroit last season are playing well this season thanks to the play of John Wall. Wall is averaging 19.0 points, 8.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. He also posted four double-doubles and has two games of at least 30 points through the first six games of the season.
If the Wizards top the Pistons Wednesday night it will be their best start to the season in 40 years.
The good: Smith, Drummond and Monroe combined for 33 boards in the loss against the Bulls.
The bad: Josh Smith, Andre Drummond and Brandon Jennings are all scoring below their career averages and the Pistons .410 field goal percentage is the league’s worst. The Pistons, along with the Knicks are the only teams in the NBA that have yet to score at least 100 points in a game.
The unknown: Can Brandon Jennings keep up with John Wall, or will Van Gundy give the bulk of the minutes to D.J. Augustin.
Injuries
Pistons:: Gigi Datome and Cartier Martin are doubtful (or more like doubtful they’ll get any playing time). Jodie Meeks is out.
Wizards: Bradley Beal and Martell Webster are out.
Fact: Josh Smith (14.7 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 4.3 apg) is the only player in the NBA currently averaging at least 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
Fact: Josh Smith averaged 15.3 points against the Wizards last season.
Fact: John Wall averaged 25.8 points against the Pistons last season.
Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at Detroit Sports 105.1.
