The Pistons vs. The Brooklyn Nets

The 4-8 #Pistons are in Brooklyn for a Sunday afternoon game against the 3-9 Nets. Neither team is setting the NBA on fire this season. Brooklyn, who were expected to be an Eastern Conference threat after acquiring Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce , have lost four straight and are plagued with injuries.

  • The good: The Pistons should be able to to stop the bleeding against the Nets. The Nets have lost seven of their last eight games, and their last four by an average of 12.4 points. Garnett is averaging a career low, Paul Pierce looks tired and Joe Johnson’s best days are behind him. Add the fact that Andrei Kirilenko, Brook Lopez, Jason Terry and Deron Williams will not play due to injury and it’s the perfect storm for the visiting Pistons.
  • The bad: The Pistons lost all four against the Nets last season and have lost eight of their last 10 game in Brooklyn. As bad as the Nets have looked lately, Detroit hasn’t looked much better. Both teams need to get things going and Sunday’s game may just come down to who wants it more.
  • The unknown: Is the Josh Smith issue an issue, or can he wash away the drama and start hitting his shots? It’s still not known if Chauncey Billups or Will Bynum will be back, they are each still listed as day-to-day.

Stat: Andre Drummond still leads the NBA in field goal percentage with 66.4%
Fact:  The Pistons are tied for second in the NBA in steals this season, averaging 9.8 steals per game.

Tip off is at 2:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at WWJ 950 AM.

    rodney stuck stuck STUCCCKEEEY

trade high joe d. Stuckey is playing like an allstar. We could get a really good small forward for Stuckey and perhaps solve our spacing problems.

    a W!

Jennings looking a lot better with less shooting

Smith as well, but offensively he isn’t put to use in cheeks’ system.

I’m glad to not go ‘noooooo!’ every 5 minutes du to a jennings/smith shot.

Gigi & JJ in the dog house? how bad can it be with CV and Josh H coming off the bench?? what did these europeans do to deserve this? Can see how this team gets better with Gigi and JJ getting minutes running and hustling, so don’t understand.

And did you see CV’s unlucky start? I mean I’m not a fan, but the guy didn’t need that start to his game.

gigi in his limited minutes has been terrible. Jerebko has never been same after his achilles injury. Sad, but it happens in professional sports. I don’t mind CV getting some time, I just don’t need to see him for more than 8 minutes a game.

jennings has been playing pretty good, he doesn’t turn over the ball much, is able to see the floor, can run the pick and roll, is not a great jump shooter but able to shoot if he has too.

He is a giant improvement over brandon knight. Our biggest need right now is a perimeter defender at small forward who has decent range, and moving josh smith back to his natural position at power forward. It would be a delicate proposition for Mo Cheeks to bench moose, dre or smith but the grand experiment is not working, josh is having a terrible year because he’s playing out of position.

Good road W for Detroit. Double/double for Moose and BJ. Stuckey was the leading scorer as a 6th man.
Starting Singler for JSmoove would be a gutsy move since putting Smith at PF would cut into playing time for Moose and JSmoove. When is KCP going to break out of his scoring slump?

singler isn’t good enough to start, he’s decent off the bench. if we run josh at pf for 32 minutes and then just 3 minutes at small forward, that gives moose josh & dre their usual 35 minutes and lets us run a small forward we acquire in trade at SF most of the game.
