Tuesday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills looks like it’s going to be something of a show when the Knicks are in town to play the Pistons. If you didn’t know by now Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings sent out a tweet that the Knicks J.R. Smith took offense to.
On Wednesday night Jennings tweeted this (now deleted) @BrandonJennings :
“Wait wait wait JR smith brother is in the NBA but @PoohJeter & @BBROWNLAU isn’t. Call me hater but not Rollin!!!”
Wednesday night, J.R. Smith responded with a tweet appearing to threaten to send his “street homies” to Detroit. Also mentioning that he had no respect for Jennings.
No respect for these lil kids who pop at the mouth on twitter an then want to delete they tweets! #GrowUp! #ManUp! @TheOnlyCSmith0 #Facts!

Smith said on Thursday night that he didn’t mean to threaten Jennings with his tweet.

A ton of criticism has been thrown the way of J.R.’s brother Chris from the Knicks fans to NBA players themselves who believe that Chris is on the roster only to help settle J.R., who’s had issues since he’s been in the league.
Some rival agents believe Chris Smith’s roster spot with the Knicks was locked in as a package deal when J.R. Smith re-signed with the team in July.
Chris Smith signed a nonguaranteed contract worth $490,180. According to league sources with knowledge of the contract, his deal became fully guaranteed once he made the roster.
Smith has been inactive for the Knicks’ first seven games. He is expected to play the majority of the season in the D-League with the Knicks’ affiliate, the Erie BayHawks.
His inclusion on the roster has affected recent personnel decisions.
The Knicks decided recently that they would not add a big man to help fill the void left by injured center Tyson Chandler, who is out four to six weeks with a fractured right fibula.
They would have to cut a player if they wanted to sign someone to make room on the 15-man roster. Many view Chris Smith as an obvious candidate to be cut, in part because of his subpar play in the preseason (1-for-7 shooting in 20 minutes).Via ESPN
Smith however has gotten in trouble on Twitter in the past. In 2012, he was fined $25,000 by the NBA for posting “inappropriate pictures” of a semi-nude woman on his Twitter account. He’s also not know to be a standup guy. Since he’s been in the league he’s had issues wherever he’s been. All you have to do is a google search on the guy and you’ll know it all.
It doesn’t mean the Jennings should have made his opinions public with a tweet. Something like that was bound to cause issues, especially with the Knicks coming to town. I doubt that Joe Dumars is happy about it considering he’s always said he tried to build his team with character guys.
Now the NBA is involved in an incident that really had nothing to do with Jennings. He was trying stick up with friends who were not in the league, but this is just a childish immature way of doing it. He’s played just five games for Detroit and he’s already in the news. Too bad it wasn’t for a triple-double.
just some jawing play on
Wrong way to go about it but I can’t fault Jennings for having that valid opinion.
