Despite a late fourth quarter 9-0 run to give the #Pistons a chance to win, the Hornets went on their own 9-2 run to take the season series from Detroit 100-95 Friday night in New Orleans.
Key Points:
- Detroit had a chance to tie with a last-ditch three-point attempt with 12 seconds on the clock by Rodney Stuckey, but came up short.
- Apparently that last second three was supposed to be a play for Greg Monroe, but that didn’t work.
Greg Monroe “It was a mixup, we’ve just got to keep the focus at that point of the game. We had a chance to get a good shot. A lot of time on the clock. The focus has got to be there. That’s just something unacceptable at that point of the game. Guys weren’t on the same page. That’s all it was.” Via Pistons.com
- Brandon Knight picked up where he left off after having a career night on Wednesday. Knight put up 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting with four boards, three assist and two steals in 37 minutes on the floor. I don’t know if it’s the fact that Jose is running the show out there or not, but I love what Knight has been doing since he got here.
- Jerebko, Stuckey and Bynum where took the bulk of the minutes off the bench for Detroit scoring a combined 17 points.

- If any of you out there play fantasy basketball, Grevis Vasquez is a great pick up. He’s been impressive all season long. He torched Detroit in the second half just like Ryan Anderson did the last time these two teams met.
- Kyle Singler and Jason Maxiell each scored 10. Maxiell added two blocks and a steal with six boards while Kyle grabbed four boards and a steal.
- Sad to lose a game when you shoot 50% from the floor and outscore a team in the paint by 10. It just goes to show you when things are tight like that how important rebounding and free throw shooting is.
- New Orleans got the better end of the whistle calling. The Hornets made seven more free throws than Detroit attempted.
- Andre Drummand can’t come back soon enough.
- Another big night for Greg Monroe, who again put up a double-double, leading the Pistons with 27 points, 10 boards and a steal in 35 minutes on the floor. Regardless of the off night he has once in a while he’s clearly been the Pistons best player all season long, though if Drummond got more playing time and wasn’t injured I don’t think I could make that statement.

- Jose Calderon with another great assist game with 11 on the night and seven points.
- With just 21 games remaining (8 at home) this team is lottery bound.
- Detroit heads to San Antonio to take on the Spurs Sunday, and we know they can beat them but this one will be tough.
