The Pistons vs. The Nets

by | Feb 8, 2012 | 4 comments

The 6-20 Pistons are in New Jersey for the first game of a home and home against the 8-18 Nets. Detroit would love to add another W in their win column and make it three in a row. New Jersey on the other hand has lost three in a row, but just beat the Pistons a week ago. The Nets haven’t won since.

  • The good: Looks like Will Bynum, Ben Gordon and the masked Brandon Knight will be ready to play today. In other news, it looks like Walker Russell has got himself a guaranteed contract.
  • The bad: The Pistons aren’t exactly lighting teams on fire on the road.
  • Who to watch: Deron Williams, and all the other Williams’ that NJ has on their squad. Greg Monroe…do I have to even keep saying that?
  • The unknown: With Knight, Bynum and Gordon set to return I’m curious to see how those minutes will be distributed. Especially with the job Walker Russell was doing while they were out.

Next home game…Friday night for STAR WARS night. Get exclusive ticket deals for Need4Sheed readers straight from the Pistons with NO TICKET FEES.  I can’t tell you how many people are excited about Star Wars night, especially with the cool Poster they will be receiving if they head out to the game.

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports. If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

we’ll see bynum, ben gordon go with 10 minutes or less for the next 3 or 4 games. Frank is gentle with returning players with injuries. Once Bynum and BG are back up to speed, Walker should end up losing all his minutes. I understand why we had to sign him, Feb 10 is the deadline you have to release players or sign a contract, and there is zero way to tell by that time if Bynum and Gordon will be able to play minutes.

Wow. Ben Gordon played his heart out, 4 turnovers, but he shot lights out.

Our offensively challenged team really needed his help. Prince plays a lot better when he doesn’t feel like he has to be “the man”.

Gordon has been a funk for . . . three years? Is he finally out of his funk.

I noticed Gordon shortened his game up, he’s leaving the threes to Brandon Knight which is fine by me.

I mean we have guys that can shoot the three, Prince, Stuckey, Knight, Jerebko, they can all shoot outside, not a lot just a little bit. So maybe this is part of Ben Gordon’s plan to get his game back in gear, let our other guys have the three, he’ll take the midrange.

Whatever it was, it worked. Doesn’t hurt the nets stunk it up. Thanks New Jersey!

Great game. Wish we could have kept the blowout, but at least we kept calm under pressure. Great bench play by Jerebko. That dunk by Monroe at the end came out of nowhere.

Great road victory. The streak continues and should reach 5 before it is over.
Pistons had a couple of huge dunks over people and out rebounded the Nets and even had 6 blocks.
Another big game for Moose with his typical double double.
BG and JJ with a nice game off the bench.
BG may be our $11 million 6th man with Stuck and Knight in the starting role.
Glad to see that W. Russell was able to stick with the team. He basically can fill a Bynum role for a lot less money.
