The Pistons vs. The Pacers

The Pistons vs. The Pacers

The 21-37 Pistons are in Indiana to take on the 25-30 Pacers Wednesday night. Detroit would like to bounce back from their loss Tuesday night against the Rockets to gain ground on the Pacers who currently hold the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

  • The good: The Pistons beat the Pacers in OT right before the All-Star break.
  • The bad: The 9 point underdog Pistons have lost 4 of their last 5 games.
  • The unknown: With the trade deadline tomorrow at 3pm…does Rip get traded or will he start playing come Friday?
  • My guess on the deadline: I doubt Detroit will do anything before the deadline. Chris Iott  of MLive has the same thinking and goes into detail.

wow i dont think i could take seeing RIP in street clothes for the rest of the season. That would really make me sad. But truthfully letting him play would just hurt his scoring average and the team would just loose with so many guards. I personally would say ship out ben gordon, but i doubt joe d wants to do that.

And if anyone saw the press conference with chauncey and melo you could see how upset chauncey was when they were introducing them both. But he seemed to loosen up as the conference went on. Ill be honest i would of loved to see rip and chauncey together again even in another uniform.

I hope, for Tay and Rip’s well-being, that they get traded to contenders. Sad as it sounds, I think Detroit will miss out on the play-offs for a second consecutive year. And with Rip and Tay still having a lot to give, they deserve to be on a team in the hunt for the title. I say trade either of them for a young big who’s a force in the paint and a true PG (though TMac is definitely doing a good impression of one).

the pacers are awful but everyone in the NBA knows the weak point in the Detroit Pistons, and that is, if you play a little bit hard, we give up. I saw one of those fast break points where the pacers jogged back, and only Stuckey went up to contest a shot, it was 3 pacers on stuckey.

The rest of the pistons? Oh they heard the shot clock go off, and figured it was time for a nice rest.

Make no mistake about our team. We can make buckets in bunches, buckets from every spot in the floor, Greg Monroe is helping make buckets in the paint.

But we couldn’t stop a Justin Beiber crossover on defense.

By my calculations, we needed this pacers win to go to the playoffs, and while we are not mathematically eliminated, in my book, this officially eliminates us from the playoffs.

We could have won this game easily if we just had a little bit of defense.

Why the hell can’t Ben gordon play defense, it is baffling. He has plenty of athleticism, he can dunk like crazy, great elevation, reflexes, but he can’t stay in front of anyone.

I know how much everyone hates on stuckey. He’s not a point guard, he plays with his head down, he takes too many shots. Right now he is my favorite player on this pistons team because he can actually defend. Who else on this team does that?

Did you know that Arron Afflalo is now rated as one of the best defenders in the NBA? I wish we could trade Ben gordon & Charlie V for Arron Afflalo right now.

i know why did joe d get rid of afflalo i loved that guy i use to watch him back at ucla. him and stuckey would be a hell of a defensive backcourt. add in tmac and bynum at the point or however but those four would be great together. what did we get for afflalo? o wasnt it just money? EPIC FAIL joe d

He requested the trade. When BG was signed he knew he wouldn’t get any minutes so he wanted to go somewhere where he would have a chance to play.

im not saying ben gordon is worse than affalo but I am saying that our team is so weak in defense that trading ben gordon for affalo would make our team immediately better.

it’s clear to me that ben gordon and charlie v are exactly the same in that if there are 4 other guys on the court who are great on defense, then they can be two pretty good players, maybe even starters.

but on the softest team in the nba? They get awful really fast when their defense problems are highlighted.

Joe d had to know he was creating one of the worse defensive teams in the nba. I’m sure he felt the refs would be calling an entirely different game than is actually played right now in the nba. I’m sure he felt the refs wouldn’t allow the players to play defense. But that’s not what happened, and now we are stuck with an awful team.

Joe D owes detroit an apology for what he has done to this team.

The pacers did score in bunches and to the credit of the Pistons, so did they !

BUTTTTT!! It seemed like whenever the Pistons made a shot, the Pacers would “In Bound” the ball and push it RIGHT AWAY, and while they in bounded the ball they would sprint down the court for a lay up or alley oop, WHILE our Detroit Pistons would “gingerly” go down the court after they would make a shot!
