The 17-30 Pistons are in New York to take on the 24-22 Knicks Sunday night. The Pistons would love to was away the stink of their win loss in Miami and finish off their difficult week with a win in New York. If the game is anything like the last time he Pistons met the Knicks, they are in for a tough game.
New York will be without reserve forward Shawne Williams, suspended one game Saturday for throwing punches during an altercation with Marvin Williams. The incident began when the Atlanta player pushed him in the back.
The Pistons Rodney Stuckey (right shoulder contusion) is listed as day-to-day and I’m quite certain Rip’s battle with the “flu” will last longer than we think.

Ben Wallace out as well with family issues. A’mare will play.
Wonderful
play hard guys, the rest will hopefully take care of its self. lets get a win. GO PISTONS.
Why do the Pistons have a knack for making unknown players look like all-stars?
tmac gave up in the 4th quarter this game. I guess losing wore him out. ben gordon played his best on the offensive end this year, but at the defensive end, he always seemed to be chasing felton. couldnt stay in front. he’s awfully weak on defense. then after putting gordon behind him, felton would either shoot, let stoudemire finish or pass it out to an open man, since with ben gordon neutralized, the nicks were playing 5 on 4.
hope you all are happy with ben gordon. This is him at his best, 7 for 11 from the 3, that’s 64 percent, and not one ounce of defense. I think ben gordon is ok playing on teams that are great on defense already, so they can play with only 4 guys on the other end. But we have a team that is weak from top to bottom on defense, except for stuckey, Prince and ben wallace. Charlie V is the same way, he’s really pretty good on a team that already has outstanding defense, but on a team that is really weak on defense, well . . .
Notice how many times Charlie V or Ben Gordon seem to be tugging on a guy in the lane from the side or behind? They can’t stay in front of their guy so as a last ditch effort they have to grab him.
By contrast notice the types of fouls that Prince gives, he usually bodies up on a shooter because he’s in front of him, or hits the shooter on the hand as he tries to block.
For $11 million I would prefer that Ben Gordon be an excellent defender. Cause our defense stinks.
We need a point guard, we need a tree or two, and we need two or three more defensive players with both prince and wallace leaving next year to complement our scorers that aren’t able to play on both sides of the court.
austin daye is terrible on defense too, he can’t move his feet quick enough. I can’t comment on greg monroe, the moose gets better every game. tmac of course is yet another pistons player that can’t move his feet so he can’t defend.
yeah me, too. Moose played Kevin Love-esque tonight. hope he does it every game.
Amar’e’s last dunk was just sad.
I thought the play was dead because TMac just stood there.
Was able to check this one out live. Great game through 3, too bad it completely got away form us in the fourth. I was impressed by the Knicks crowed. They were going crazy all night.
Pistons got a need4Shtucky, and bad.
well said.
Just another demonstration of the Pistons’ inconsistency.Last game our defence and ball control was fantastic, but we were shooting ice cold. This game our defence and ball control was woeful, but we were shooting red hot.
The Pistons are definitely competitive, but 4 games back of 8th spot, we need to be on a 2 game winning streak right now. We need Daye to dunk over Jones in spite of the foul. We need our defence to stop Timofey Mozgov(?), and we need to take care of the ball. The margin for era is too small.
The Knicks can do this to you, but they will give you the opportunity win the game. We had all the momentum and should have put them away after BG’s third triple to go ahead 77-69 in the 3rd, but within 2 minutes the score was level again. We HAVE to start putting teams away.
Need a BIG February. The way I see it, we need to beat CHA, NJN, MIL, CLE, POR, ATL, IND, HOU, IND, and PHI (4 on the road). Then, hope we can knock off at least one of SAN, MIA, and UTH (all @ home).
We could have used Rip.
no, not really.
man the team just cant play d with a dayyyyyum. seriously ben gordon must tell ppl hey im not even going to try just run right past me. i dont get how ppl who play such good offense dont try on defense.
my guess is too tired or saving energy for offense.
Surprisingly well-written and ifnomrative for a free online article.
