The Pistons vs. The Jazz

The 11-22 are on the second game of their road trip to face the 23-11Utah Jazz. The Jazz are looking to make it 11 straight victories over Detroit with a win Monday night. It’s hard to believe that Detroit has won just twice in the past 20 years in Utah.

Rodney Stuckey is in Utah with the team and will be playing limited minutes while still recovering from the stomach flu. Tracy McGrady will be the Pistons starting point guard.

It’s not a fake account Pistons.com has said it was official quite a few times.

Cuz on any night, any team can beat any other team.

Recent games vs Jazz were very close. The team knows the history so they tend to play well against this team. If we can keep it close, we might have a chance.

I didn’t know you could effin level a guy in order to get a block–as Jefferson just did now to Monroe.

Detroit always loves to do that: tease us by coming up close in game 1 of back-to-backs but never close out. Then of course we’ll lose game 2 of it. Which a**hole scheduled us to play Utah and LA consecutively without a day of rest?

detroit played better the entire game, the jazz looked absolutely awful but got saved with their chances at the free throw line

the only problem with this starting lineup is we have nobody who can drive to the basket. d will was at the stripe more times (13) than all our starters put together

this was a winnable game, a game where the jazz starters took the night off.

austin daye looked like a rookie. monroe is looking better all the time he even dunked!

ben gordon still hesitates every time he has the ball

dont you hate it when they announcer from the other team sees ben gordon and they always say “Ben Gordon can light it up, he’s dangerous, he can get 30 points now that he’s starting, watch out”. He’s not the same ben gordon from chicago, he’s timid, cautious, passes up about half of his open looks because he thinks too much.

stuckey looked cold. It’s nice to see him on the bench, tho, he might learn something watching tmac.

Good game. Good effort. We defended. Played hard. Had a number of notable performances. Lost.

Getting kind of repetitive. Sure its nicer to be competitive than to get blown out, but there is no for and against in the NBA, a loss is still a loss. At the end of the day, Utah played poorly, but still had enough to pull out the clutch plays at the end.

How did they NOT review Bell’s last minute 3?

One of the nice things about league pass is you can back up and watch stuff really closely. Ironically, on the feed on the three that shouldn’t have been, there was a player between the camera and Bell’s feet. He did step forward however and on replay it was clear that at least half his right foot, maybe more was on the line. I’m sure if you check the special Stern addendum to the rule book (the one where he changes the rules to screw the Pistons) there is a line about it’s still a three if the left foot is completely behind the line if its the home team in Utah only. Also Drew called it on that play where Jefferson blocked the ball. Yes the Block was clean, but only because he pushed off with his off hand and Monroe’s body shifted by a foot because of it. But the play that I thought turned the game was when Jefferson stood in the key by himself with no defender anywhere near him for clearly over seven seconds. Prince had the ball in the wing but couldn’t drive to the middle because Jefferson was taking up space illegally (except apparently in Utah on Monday nights in 2011 as per Stern’s super secret directive). I realize the Pistons need to play five on eight most nights, but to be so screwed in a game they played so well is heartbreaking.
