The 3-6 Pistons are in Sacramento to take on the 3-5 Kings Sunday evening. If the Pistons get off to a good start they should be able to pull out a win in Arco Arena. The Kings have been one of the league’s most accommodating teams when it comes to points. Sacramento has allowed 58.3 points per game prior to halftime (29th in the league) and has trailed in all eight games.
The bad:
The Pistons have won consecutive road games once since March 2009.
Pistons fans I’m sure will be on DeMarcus Cousins watch.

Can the Pistons take two in a row after tonight? Can Stuckey outplay the similar-statured Evans?
Daye out of the starting lineup – Maxiell in. The Kings are a fantastic rebounding team, thanks to Cousins, Landry, and Dalembert, so I like the fact that Kuester wants to strengthen that area up. I will be interested to see how Daye responds to coming off the bench.
Wilcox is also activated for the first time, so he might get some C/PF minutes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Daye backs up Prince more than Maxiell. Interesting that Villanueva was overlooked for the starting job.
Stuckey always seems to try really hard to dominate these young and talented point guards – remember the 40 points he dropped on D. Rose? Problem is if it doesn’t work, he ends up forcing it and becomes really inefficient.
Should be a good game. If we lose this one, then I can’t see us getting up for the back to back tomorrow either.
great game by the pistons. really solid, NBA basketball. We haven’t had a win like this in a while. The pistons had no answer for the size of the Kings, but we made them look like a college team. This game was not nearly as close as the score indicates.
I honestly can’t put my finger on why. I don’t have a good answer for what is different. Why no 3rd quarter meltdown? Why did Ben Gordon make the big shots tonight we all know he can make instead of doing that little hesitation like he’s not sure if he can still shoot the ball and then passing it? Why did Charlie V get into a poster for the Kings, putting his body on the line? Why did the Pistons run up and down the floor?
If they play like this every game, this pistons team can make the playoffs without changing a thing. I’m not going to hope this is the start of a trend, been disappointed too many times, just saying, the Pistons played NBA ball tonight.
Nice to read some possitive things from edt. And nice win. A DNP for Daye? So that’s how deep the team is, one game you can be a starter the other game you may see no playing time.
Look at these stat lines:
Cousins 6 pts, 3/8FG….8 TRB….1 AST….4 PF….1 ST…. 0 BLK…. 6 TO…. 24:49
Monroe 6 pts, 3/5 FG….8 TRB…. 0 AST…. 1PF…. 2ST…. 0 BLK…. 1 TO…. 15:35
These stats say nothing about how good or bad one or the other is. This is just one game and it’s such a small sample size to determine the skills or efficiencies of both players. Good showing by Monroe in tonight’s game though, hope he gets more playing time. Hope he replicates or exceeds this performance in the next games, especially in two of the next three (GS, Lakers, Wizards), wherein they should be winnable games.
we took cousins completely out of his game, we ran right at him, got him to foul, got him to get a tech for complaining about it, got ANOTHER foul that he nearly lost his mind over, and right after the foul he stomped up to the half court line so he wouldn’t accidentally mouth off to the ref. And when we didn’t get him to foul we doubled him so he had to make a difficult decision about where to pass the ball, one time he passed it right to Charlie V.
Basically we got into his head because we acted like veterans playing against a rookie.
Speaking of throwing it right to Charlie, who keeps the stats in these games? Why does Charlie show a ‘0’ for steals when he overtly grabbed at least one?
I thought DET was supposed to be in the weak division, but if we were in the Atlantic division right now, we’d be in 2nd place. But, we’re in last in the Central.
First proper win of the season. By that, I mean that we didn’t just win because of the incompetence of the opposition. We played good basketball. We shot the ball well. We had a balanced attack. Our defense was actually really solid except for the fastbreak and second-chance points. Even our third quarter wasn’t too bad.
Great performance from Stuckey tonight. Also a shout out to Monroe, Prince, Gordon, Villanueva, and Wallace. It was a real team effort.
Tough to back up tomorrow, but it is an extremely winnable game. The Warriors will be without David Lee so rebounds shouldn’t be as big a problem. If we play like we played tonight, we will beat the Warriors.
Too early to start thinking playoffs, but after a terrible start, we are now only 1/2 game out of the playoff picture at 4-6.
