The Wait ‘Till 2010 Pistons vs. The Spurs

As all of you know by now Joe Dumars and the Pistons stood pat at the trading deadline, so beyond the firing of a certain coach it looks like this team will probably stay just the way it is.  Oh wait…it can get worse, did anyone take a look at the next block of games?

Tonight vs San Antonio
Sun 22 @ Cleveland
Tue 24 @ Miami
Wed 25 @ New Orleans
Fri 27 @ Orlando
Sun 01 @ Boston
Tue 03 vs Denver

With the Pistons on a four game losing streak going into tonight’s Nationally televised game against the 35-17 Spurs if they can actually pull off the win tonight maybe, just maybe they can get some confidence going into the next stretch of difficult games.

Just think, if things go the way they have been, by the time Chauncey returns to the Palace the Pistons could be out of the Playoff picture.  I can’t believe I just said that.

Good/Bad News and More

  • Curry is still in charge but he did manage to play Zone in the loss to the Bucks and go figure, it worked.  We may see it again.
  • Ginobili is out got two to three weeks.
  • The Spurs have lost their last two games.
  • Don’t get overexcited for Chris Bosh.
  • Don’t forget to try to win DIME MAGAZINE featuring Rodney Stuckey.  Leave the word STUCKTACULAR in the comment section of DIME with your correct email address.

Tip off is at 8:00 PM and will be Nationally televised on TNT.  If you can’t catch the broadcast you can listen locally at WDFN 1130 AM or follow/listen to the game at NBA.com.

Leave them in the Comments.

I’m rooting for my Pistons as usual, but I do respect the Spurs. I like what they stand for: They have defense, a veteran core, they have Tim Duncan who plays the game as robotically and as detached as a surgeon, they just get the job done and they don’t give a f*** what anyone else thinks. Anyone wonder why they just keep coming back? BECAUSE THEY NEVER LEFT.

5 straight losses and a a pretty weak last minute of the game…

I’m sorry but why are we taking fadeaway jumpers for last second shots instead of attacking the paint?

FUCK THE PISTONS I’M DONE… THE ONLY WAY I CAN WATCH THEM IS ON NATIONAL TV AND THEY SUCK.. THANKS A LOT DUMARS FOR REALLY CARING ABOUT THIS SEASON AND THROWING AI DOWN THE SHITTER SO THAT HE CAN’T WIN A RING, WHICH IS WHY HE WANTED TO COME HERE, BUT U DON’T EVEN CARE ABOUT THIS SEASON… HOPEFULLY AI WILL GO TO A REAL CONTENDER AFTER THIS YEAR AND GET A RING… F**K EVERY PLAYER ON THE PISTONS BUT AI THEY ALL SUCK AND F**K CURRY AND DUMARS… PIECES OF SHIT CAN’T WIN THE GAME, AI IS THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKS LIKE HE’S TRYING OUT THERE… PLAYS WITH HEART EVERY NIGHT AND EVERYONE ONE ELSE OTHER THAN DYESS AND MAX DON’T BRING IT… I AM SO MAD

I like how Iverson actually tried to share the ball at the end and was rewarded by a highly questionable fade-away jumpshot from 20 feet.

  12. Chris

Three bad coaching moves by Curry in the end.

1/He called timeout when they had the ball which allowed the Spurs to bring back Bowen. Down by 1 point.

2/Down by 1 point. Iverson was super hot, and the Spurs I think were on the foul limit, yet it ended up on Rasheed taking a fadeway jumper, instead of taking it to the hoop.

3/Down by 3 points. Now that’s the time you want Rasheed to take that 3 pointer, but it was AI who took the shot.

They played with effort tonight, but still ended up losing. 5 straight loss.ouch. 27-26. ouch. lost 8 of 9 in the Palace.ouch.

    -trade rasheed and tay.
-let ai be a free agent next season.
    -KEEEP DYESS and Stuck.
-get a point guard that can share the ball more and knows how to work with the pistons. (CHAUNCEY)

just a few guidlines to make the Pistons at least be a respective team

Rasheed is my dude but he was straight garbage tonight. Stuckey has hit a wall. Tay look like he is playing with no intensity. Rip was out of rhythm. This team is lost without Chauncey and with the schedule coming up it gets no easier. On a positive note Mcdyess is playing his heart out and if we can’t turn it around it may be for nothing.

once again i feel terrible for Mcdyess and A.I. , the only two pistons that bring it every single night to try and win a championship but get screwed over by a bad coach and a washed up rasheed wallace who was my favorite piston but now I’m just sick of him and his constant jacking up 3’s

It’s sad to say but this season is lost even if we end up in the fourth spot in the east. The team chemistry is non-existent. They show us glimpses of what this team could be like the 9-0 start tonight but there is no consistency. I THINK CURRY NEEDS TO GO NOW. I know its his first year and all,and we traded our floor general a couple games into the season but come on man.

  22. pistons 4 life

I HATE CURRY!!! When AI gets you back in a game by himself, why are you drawing up a play where Sheed gets the ball and jacks up a contested jumper. This guy is a complete IDIOT. USE THE HOT HAND. Talk to any coach in the NBA and they’ll tell you that with the game on the line, put the ball in the hands of your best player, or in this case the only guy who was hot. Oh well, I didn’t expect them to win anyway.

I’m not down on Stuckey but clearly he has hit a wall. Bench Stuckey. Start Rip. A.I. will be gone after this year anyways.

  24. ALMEI

Well, they played better. Even a glimmer of hope that we might–might pull out a win at the end–but as Chris said, some strange coaching moves the last 30 seconds. 11-18 from the line–lost by 4. Bit misleading. A few more makes, we would have been up at the end with the Spurs trying at the end for the win.

Seems like we have been trying to develop the bench for several years now. Thought this year was going to be different–but played this game with only 7 players. Seriously, have we given up on Herrmann and Brown? And what’s happening with Afflalo and Johnson? Are they really that bad at practice so Curry won’t play them or is the coaching so bad they just haven’t been able to develop. And I agree with the statement that Stuckey seems to have hit a wall. He looks nothing like how he was the first 30-40 games the season. 8 assists this game (much better) but only 2 points.

We might be able to hang around .500 and get a 7 or 8 seed, but I kinda at this stage now hope for a lottery pick and some MAJOR housecleaning at the end of this season. It is like deja vu with the high hope we had for the Tigers last season and then they bottomed out. Now substitute Pistons and other than the fact the Pistons started out better than the Tigers last year, it’s pretty much the same.

Yeah, Stuckey was pretty brutal. Curry’s adjustment? Don’t play Afflalo. Good move coach.

Still, game was a blast, can’t really complain about it.

And I’m getting TIRED of RASHEED…

    WE NEED4SHEED2LEAVE !!!!!!!!

NEED4SHEED2STOP TAKING A SHOT EVERY TIME HE HAS THE BALL..

i’m sick of this ish… we can’t play a whole game if we tried. we need to be a LOT bigger down low or we’re gonna continue to get murdered. Also, can we please pass the ball.

Note to AI: nobody wants to see your ridiculousness. pass that shit to the open man and work the defense open. you might not have to shoot fadeaways every shot if you do.

    Note to Dyess:
You got the heart of a true champion. I’m sorry you had to come back to witness this retardation.

  33. pistons 4 life

I wouldn’t complain about AI too much. With out him in this game I think it would have been a lot uglier. As I said earlier, he pretty much kept them in the game at the end there. I just don’t understand why you don’t give him the ball at the end and let him try and win it.

And about Curry only playing 7 guys, that was a joke. They showed that shot during the broadcast of all the bench players sitting their with glum looks on their faces. At this point in the season why is Curry still trying to figure out what’s wrong with this team. They’re not going anywhere this year so why not give the young guys some playing time. At this point he’s doing the same thing Flip did, but not winning games while doing it.

I just love how everything that Joe and Curry talked about earlier this season seems to just be out the window now. “Accountability” “Developing the bench” “If you’re playing well you’ll stay in the game” If anything when you’re playing terrible Curry leaves you in the game.

    What a joke!!!!

Agree with the note to Dyess!
He for sure has the heart of a champion.
As far as the rest goes it seems to me the coach is clueless and the rest of the players look like they have given up.
Agree with the tigers analogy ,lots of potential but no chemistry.
People not sure of their roles etc.
For whatever reason this team is in a funk.
Sad to see,I agree play the bench what do you have to lose?lol

For me this team is like a dream.

I wake up every morning, going on nba.com and the need4sheed to see how my Pistons played. It’s a little ritual I do every day.

I go on nba.com and I see my Pistons lost another game.

I look twice before I actually accept that we have lost another game.
Every day, I come in the site, and hope to see a W.

It’s like I don’t want to believe that the Pistons are acutally losing almost every other game. There is nothing at all. And it’s so frustrating because they have what it takes, but every game, it seems like they can’t bring it for 48 minutes. That’s what makes me mad. They have their lead with double digits, but somehow manage to lose every game, and almost all the last 10 loses or W’s have been under 10 points, or even under 5 points.

I just hope they can concentrate during the playoffs, just like Rasheed said, we just need to get to the playoffs, and then take it from there.

I hope they can land a good spot.

Stuckey sucks, quit acting like he is going to be the future of this team. He is a strong mided ball hog that can get hot sometimes. No matter what level of basketball you have played, we’ve all played along side a one dimensional player like Stuckey. And WTF did Curry play a 7 man rotation for last night? Especially when Stuck was non-existant. Even Craig Seager called him out at the end of the third. Afflalo should be playing at least 10 min every game, hell AA is better than Stuck in my opinion. He’s smart, controlled and a team player, what else could you want. FIRE CURRY NOW JOE!!!!

This so kills me to see McDyess bringing on his game everytime for naught. 🙁

I’ll admit I was Debbie Downer at the beginning of the season when “the trade” happened and I’m just a few short weeks from seeing a prediction I made with a coworker come true and it’s a prediction that I didn’t want to come true. But even I didn’t foresee the train wreck that is Curry’s coaching, I made the call on the disaster that the trade would have on team chemistry and losing Chauncey’s leadership would have HUGE repercussions, I also always doubted AI’s ability to “fit” with the Pistons, but there’s been a lot more wretchedness going on this season than just that.

I know I for one will definitely be trying to forget all about this season next year. Am heading to MI in a week or so for the GSW game. I go up there once a year to see a live game with my sister, who’s in school there. Am going to go to that game with the Blind Date approach and maybe try and find where to buy the awesome Pepsis.
