This is the mathcup everyone was expecting at the start of the season. We wanted it, we got it. I am sticking by my prediction hopes that Detroit will win Game One. Boston has to be tired, Detroit’s had time to rest, Tayshaun is playing his best post season basketball, Rodney’s initiation is over, Rip has a UCONN battle to win, Maxiell will eat babies, Sheed loves the Garnett challenge, Lindsey is timeless, and McDyess will have his heart in it more than ever.

Chauncey had some rest, but even Arnie’s magic didn’t quite get him to 100%. Regardless, I expect 110% from Mr. Big Shot hamstring or not.

And then there is the History…

Tip off is at 8:30 PM and will be Nationally televised on ESPN. If you can’t catch it on the tube you can always tune in to 1130 AM WDFN The Fan, or stream it live through your computer at NBA.com.

I’ve been saying win the ship for Dyess, but man, win the ship so that Tay can win a playoff MVP.

I just wish they really turn it on in the 4th quarter. With the way they’re playing it seems like Boston has the fresh legs and Detroit has had no rest.

i don’t freaking understand….does it take a rocket science to freaking figure out that prince’ defense on paul pierce is not working and its collapsing the pistons defense coz of pick and roll…..saunders needs to make adjustments by putting another solid defender on pierce. afflalo is 6-5 and pierce is 6-6….saunders ought a try afflalo on pierce, he’s faster than coming off of a pick and roll…hermann would be another option but hes inactive….amir would be another one to consider….it freaking seems that they didn’t expect for pierce to be like this…c’mon, they did watch game 7 of clev vs. celts! fuck flip, make adjustment!!!!

I can’t believe we are down by 12 pts. Hope they are saving the best for the 4th quarter.

Is it me or are they calling some ticky tack fouls on Detroit and not Boston?

Surprised at the Rip foul but it wasn’t that bad…I have seen Garnett do much worse. Breen needs to chill.

idk what it is about detroit but they bring out the best in every team and frankly its pissing me the fuck off! well there is a win win situation brewing tho..

    1. we win the series go on for the ship

    2. we lose and dumars finally makes some trades and breaks up the core and finally fires flip for flushing a dynasty down the toilet.. cant wait to see what happens..

do you hear how goddamn loud it is there? thats how the palace should sound it hasnt sounded as loud since 2004, now its all rich executives who r spoiled by winning if detroit is gonna have a chance they need to give the tickets to the middle class or the palace vision crowd or else the quiet palace is doomed..

sheed should’ve swang the ball to wide open billups for the 3….he needs to stop shooting if hes not making them in the first half…fucking idiot for a guy with a high basketball IQ.

at the moment i really HATE chauncey billups for scouting garnett to boston! once a celtic always a celtic i guess.. hes the reason why we dont have an easy ticket to the finals and if the celtics win we have chauncey to thank for it 🙂

and no i dont hate the pistons i hate anything and everything pretty much..

The Pistons didnt look like themselves out there with 6 years of playing together, there out there yelling at each other!! they need to play as a team better if they want to win this series!

  28. The Fluidics

Well this was a good chance for the Pistons, but we all knew they would be rusty after the break, they always are.

Gotta give credit to the Celtics defense, that is what won this game.

Lets hear two days worth of doom and gloom, break up the team because they lost one game blah blah blah.

You can’t win a series in 6 or 7 AND win every game.

Pistons will be right back in the thick of it come thursday.

I think we lost the points in the paint by like 30pts.

The Pistons are experienced, i hope they can pick this cletic team apart.

I got tickets to game 4!! Lets hope that chauncy can get going a little bit earlier in that game. Every time i saw him get the ball in the first half he got tripped or fumbled the ball.

Who are the bulls going to pick with their first round pick?

  31. The Fluidics

If they were in the paint, they would have gone to the line more often, and had a lot more easy points.

But no excuses, Celtics D won this game.

Steve well be fine and ask Fluidics…it’s the way the Palace is miked or the acustics, because it’s so loud in there I have a headache the next day.

We didn’t play well and we were still in it. BTPH

Steve (with the clown icon) talk about destroying the core is ludicris. Don’t go down that road. It’s gotten to the point of being immauture and ignorant. We love this team for a reason.
Bit of a rough game, but it’s a 7 game series. ‘Sheed was 3-12 and 0-3 from behind the arc. THey had 7 turnovers in the 3rd quarter. Chauncey was -18 in the +/- column, and it was still a single digit game in Boston. We’ll be alright.

Wow, that was an emotional beating.
I was thinking they could’ve won this game when they were still in it at halftime.
What about all those turnovers? I wish they would just slow down after Boston turns the ball over. It’s ridiculous. At the end of the day, it doesn’t come down to incredible plays but the W or L. They could’ve won with the points off turnovers but instead they turned it right back over…

It looks like they are back to playing Game 3 of the 76ers
Hopefully they bounce back for Game 2 because Boston played Boston basketball and Detroit played ..crap basketball

A few less missed free throws and a lot less turnovers and we win this game. Boston can play D no doubt. Hated all the turnovers in the third – the third is a pretty crucial quarter for the Pistons it seems and they kind of blew it. I’m really not that devastated though considering the amount of time off these guys had. It was good for CB1 to be able to rest his hamstring but I’ve seen the Pistons after “too much” rest and they always take a “minute” to shake off the rust. Let’s hope they decide to take better care of the rock for the rest of the series and get this shit done right.

Dyess had a really good game — the only guy on either team with a double-double tonight. I expect nothing less from Dyess though, he’s a warrior and he ain’t goin’ down without a fight.

    LET’S GO PISTONS!!!!

Yep, Detroit played a bad game, Boston played a really good game (kudos) and it was still fairly close.

Bounce back in game 2, lock down on D, PROTECT THE BALL, and never settle for the long ball.

I’ve still got confidence that the Stones can get it done.

If they go home 1-1 it’s nothing but pressure for Boston.

Really even if they go home 0-2, its all the pressure on Boston. ATL went home 0-2, so did Cleveland. Difference is, Detroit can win in Boston, they just have to get it done.

The pistons came out flat from the opening tip. When ever they start a game shooting that poorly you know its gonna be a long night. They did recover before the half but they ended up finishing the game the way they started. Sheed needs to establish himself more in the paint, instead of tossing up all those 3’s . Notice , everytime he does that, the celtics come right back and score. Flip Sauders is doing the same foolishness he did last year by not knowing when to call timeouts. He looks lost out there sometimes. Chauncey needs to be much more involved early on in game 2. Great game from stuckey.

nat, u know im really disappointed and discouraged with this lost..but after thinking about it for less than an hour, i realize that im actually suppose to be glad which i am now. i think as many of you said, pistons had a bad game. im happy for this lost because i know were going to bounce back and play as a complete team effort, based on the past 2 series….pistons lost to philly in game one puts them on guard and won game 2, and pistons lost to orlando in game 3 losing chauncey gave pistons an opportunity to create a complete team effort and won game 4. so if pistons response the same way we responded on the last 2 series, i think we can definitely steal game 2 before going back to the palace. what u think nat?
