Sports Illustrated’s Kelly Dwyer ranked all 30 NBA GM’s and our beloved Joe Dumars was # 3.
Dumars realized early that cap flexibility can sustain a team’s chances of remaining a powerhouse and allow a decision-maker to take advantage of teams looking to clear onerous contracts. His series of gutsy decisions from the summer of 2002 to February ’04 gave Detroit its third NBA championship: He threw the full mid-level exception at journeyman Chauncey Billups, took Tayshaun Prince with the 23rd pick of the ’02 draft, dumped ’02 Coach of the Year Rick Carlisle for Larry Brown in ’03 and rolled the dice with a midseason trade for Rasheed Wallace, who was the missing piece of the ’04 championship team.
In a surprising turn, Isiah Thomas was not # 30.
I don’t know why Kerr is that high on the list…He just landed the Job.
^^ lol. I agree. I don’t like him for some reasons…
Once we win the ship I garantee he’ll be #1!!
I was watching a sports show this morning and I saw that Rasheed was cited for Marijuana possesion in 2002. Did anyone else know this?
The way I look at Sheed has changed but I still love him and admire him so much.
Ummm, did it really surprize you that ‘Sheed would smoke Marijuana? Especially back when he was with the Blazzers?
Anyway, I was just at Pistons.com- these poll results always crack me up:

That’s pretty funny, Richie. It must just be wishful thinking. I like him and his game but I don’t want him or any other “big name” player on the team so I hope (and think) it’s more likely he’s gonna end up staying in Minnesota. I read somewhere that a multi-player trade deal could see KG heading to the Lakers. Now that would be interesting.
I think ‘Sheed was tagged with Marijuana possession more than once when he was in Portland.
lol i’m not shocked about sheed’s possession of marijuana. Lol, sheed’s just sheed. However, i’d be shocked if Tayshaun gets caught for possession of marijuana. He just seems like such a nice guy, like one who would help and old lady across the street.
hey sheed would help an old lady across the street too.
Claire’s right about Tay. He just seems so young, kind and innocent. It’s funny when you think of how much we can come to know these athletes as players, just from watching their behaviors in so many games, interviews etc. over the years.
Oh, and I don’t think any superstars on our team. I’d rather be in the playoffs every year with a good hardworking, and team oriented than to spend the whole season praying one guy doesn’t get injured or hit a shooting slump.

the fact that sheed smokes marijuana is awesome, i smoke and i know sheed just loves to chill out
Why did the Gm for Dallas score higher than Joe D? Dallas had the best record of the season but were among the first to get eliminated. Makes no sense to me.
Yeah, I thought that was pretty curious too, bigdee. Oh, well…
“the fact that sheed smokes marijuana is awesome, i smoke and i know sheed just loves to chill out”
I don’t know if you know this, anony 8:53, but you can “chill out” without the aide of drugs. Trust me, I do it all the time. You should try it. It’s much cheaper.
