I had another great opportunity courtesy of The Detroit Pistons. Tuesday afternoon selected season ticket holders got a chance to listen in on a conference call with Chauncey Billups. Chauncey answered selected questions submitted by season ticket holders and I was lucky enough to get one of mine answered. I don’t have time to transcribe the whole thing but I am sure Pistons.com will have it up in a day or so. I will tell you that he did answer questions about his impending free agency and he basically said he loves Detroit and would like to stay and hopes that things work out.

Here is the audio (mp3) for one of the questions that I asked.

Natalie do you think that we are gonna experience a Larry Brown part 2 with all this Gopher talk? Brown never even took the Cleveland job. Do you think the rumors alone are enough for us to move in another direction next year?

    Junior,
I truly believe if Flip doesn’t get us to the Finals he’s gone. I don’t expect that talk to go on about the gophers for the simple fact that Flip is not a media hog like Larry Brown.

If Flip doesn’t get things done, he’s gone and I think he knows that. I am sure the Gophers position won’t be filled until Flip seals his fate with the Pistons.

if Flip doesn’t get us to the finals, he deserves to be gone.

if we don’t resign Chauncey in the off-season we are SCREWED!

we have to re-sign chauncey, i can’t even imagine what our team will be like, if chauncey isnt running thw show, milwaukee should forget about mr. big shot, they should just keep mo williams

i heard about chauncey supposedly “going to the Milwaukee Bucks” next season, but I also heard that he had NO interest in going there .. so we’ll have to see what happens; hopefully he’ll stay!!

natalie, what do you think about the rumors chauncey’s opting out and might go to milwakee?

Well he’s going to opt out, he deserves more money, Milwaukee has got it to spend and I am sure the Biggest check wins.

you really think hes going Nat????

and what was your question, i didnt hear it?

I am not sure if he’s going.

    My question was

What is it like for you and Rip to be compared to the great backcourt of Isiah and Joe Dumars, considering the admiration you have for Joe.

I definitely think that Joe Dumars will offer Billups a max contract to make sure that he stays. Chauncey is a huge part of the team and i think that witout him, the team wouldn’t be the same at all..
