This is a really disturbing story about Genarlow Wilson, a high school football player and honors student who is serving a 10-year sentence for having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17. Due to a strange law in Georgia, “it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex.” This is defiantly something that we should all be made aware of and help in any way we can. The All Star starters are named.

Great interview with the man (genius) behind YAYSports at The Big Picture.

Barkley vs. Bavetta is ON!

Players might get penalized for flopping.

Arroyo is unhappy but won’t ask for a trade.

Pistons fans seem to want Bonzi, but what has he done for the Rockets? Not much.

Webber merchandise selling well.

On Hold
Jan 25 – The trade between the Pistons and Timberwolves isn’t dead. It’s been put on the backburner while the Timberwolves sort out their mess (new coach, Eddie Griffin getting axed, etc.).

Marko Jaric has been the name normally associated with the deal for Nazr Mohammed, but there has also been discussion about Troy Hudson, who has one less year on his contract than Jaric and has been much more productive than Jaric.

Also, fans are fantasizing about the Pistons make a run at Pau Gasol. But you are wasting your time.

For Memphis president Jerry West to trade him, he’s going to want a couple of starters and a lottery pick. Gasol makes more than $12 million this year and will make pretty close to maximum money for the next five years. — Detroit News

What happend to that Genarlow kid is rediculous. I don’t know how anyone in their right mind could let that happen.

I have a longer story about Wilson than the ESPN story, http://uspolitics.about.com/b/a/207995.htm.

Have anyone you know in Georgia contact their legislator and urge support for SB37 – which might help turn this around.

well here in Georgia there is little you can do about things like that….one kid at my highschool has been charged with molestation because him and 2 other boys had sex with one girl. It was consensual, but when she got caught she cried RAPE. She has done it before, but the boys still have to register as sex offenders and once they graduate from school they have to find other places to live. One of the boys live right across the road from the school so once he graduates he cannot live with his mother any longer. THAT’s messed up. Put one of the commandments into play. Even though it was oral sex . Sex is Sex and God said it should be between a married man and women.

I hadn’t heard any clamoring for Pao Gasol in this town. There’s no place for him to play here. You’d have to blow up the team to take on that salary. The Bulls would be scary if he ends up in Chicago. Along with Gordon, they’d probably have to give up Tyrus Thomas, and they aren’t going to like that.

Jo-Mars just needs to wait, or get into the middle of it, to get the pieces we’ll need, if that one goes down.

Hudson is awfully injury-prone, and a lot like Flip Murray; inconsistant and signed through 2010.

Jaric is a good shooter, with decent defense, but terrible in the half-court; a poor playmaker and signed through 2011. I think we can more creative than this.

Please leave the politics outside of this website! What does this have to do with Sheed or basketball? With all due respect Natalie, I don’t think people want to hear this negative B.S., mixed in with basketball. It’s a little odd, don’t you think?

THAT IS THE SOUTH FOR YOU! WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SIGN A PETITION, TO LET A RAPIST OR CHILD MOLESTOR FREE? YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK! OBEY THE LAW!

I signed it. Its bullshit. Just cause you guys could get any when you were in high school. When we were juniors and seniors we couldn’t wait for the freshman girls to come in. That was just a part of high school. A senior dating a freshman was not that bizzare. If thats the case I should be locked up for life. We were all minors. Rapist? Child molestor? C’mon now!

I didn’t mean to offend, a lot of people have been made aware of the situation. It’s been all over the national news and sports sites. While it is about politics, the root of story is that it is about a young man who is sitting in jail because of a law that has since been changed, yet he still sits in jail.

If your offended, I apologize. You don’t have to read the story, but many have and are happy that they were made aware of situation.

I don’t see what the big deal is. If you don’t agree with the the “politics” don’t read the story or support it. But I see no reason why it’s odd to simply have a link to a story that was coved by ESPN in the first place.

    No need to apologize.

    Keep up the good work.

If I want to read about politics, I would go to a politics website!

I’m not offended in any way, I would just rather see stuff about Sheed/Pistons news, than negative news that doesn’t have anything to do with the website.

First of all it’s her site, she can put whatever the hell she wants on it. Second, I’am happy I was informed about the injustice, and having little side notes about stuff like thats is not a problem. The topic of the post was Around the Way, which is exactly what she did, report on stuff that was being talked about around the sports world, and that case was being talked about on ESPN.

I agree with you big_ben. You all need to calm down. First of all she can put whatever she wants on the site, its hers. If you dont want to read that than keep scrolling down, there is a lot more to look at.

EVERYONE SHOULD SIGN THE PETITION CAUSE THAT’S JUST WRONG!
