Pistons lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 101-89 Saturday night. Five Pistons were in double digits once again led by Jason Maxiell who had 16 points and 9 rebounds 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. Flip Murray added 14 and Carlos Delfino had 13. Chauncey Billups was the only Detroit starter in double figures with 10 points, matching the total by Amir Johnson.

Jason Maxiell knows he needs to work on his free throw shooting, he’s shooting 200 a day in practice. It seems to be paying off, he went 12 for 16 from the line Saturday night. I see big things for Maxiell, who is trying to make his case in the pre-season. He wants that last spot in the rotation and by the way he’s playing I don’t see a reason not to give it to him.

The Pistons play their first game at the Palace this season tonight. The Pistons take on The Utah Jazz at 7:30 p.m., local coverage is on FSN Detroit.
