Bill Laimbeer: The Old School Way

by | Jul 19, 2006 | 9 comments

Pistons fans loved him and everyone else hated him. Bill wouldn’t have had it any other way. In the old NBA when you were actually allowed to play physical basketball, nobody did it better than Bill. Check out this great Bill Laimbeer video, thanks to magic of YouTube. The video is great, but I am a little curious about the song selection, either way enjoy.

Yea, odd choice of song…great video though. Sparked some great memories of when Pro Ball was about physical play and teamwork. Today’s league is about superstars and their control of the whistles. I miss those days…

Great Video!!! Loved the emotion that players had back then. Also, loved the respect players had for each other. Charles and Bill went at it all the time, but, still had respect for each other. Nothing like the old days! Bring back basketball of old!

I think the song “Somewhere Out There” from the movie “An American Tale” would have even been more appropriate than that shit song.

Man, I’m from THIS generation and I miss those days. You really had to earn it huh. The music was wack, it felt like it was the goodbye theme for American Idol.

What’s great about Bill’s play is that he does all that is necessary to stop the opponents and not FLOP. It’s hard to find the same intensity and toughness in defenders in the league today (either due to rules changes, or players becoming soft– too cuddled)
