The future of The Detroit Pistons weighs upon a lot of things. Joe Dumars announced to the media that he wanted to keep the starting five plus Dyess together and wants to strengthen the bench. Now as honest as this statement might be many things must fall in place in order to do what Dumars says he wants to do.
The number one issue is the resigning of Ben Wallace. I am not convinced that Ben is happy with his role on the Pistons. He said himself that he wants to be a more integral part of the offense. We know he hasn’t been that happy with Flip. So the way I see it, it all boils down to what happens with Ben. If he resigns we have don’t have that much cap space to play around with the bench. If Ben doesn’t sign with the Pistons any center that is available is a downgrade. Does Dumars make a big trade to get a better center? Does he do a sign and trade for Ben? How can Dumars work on anything until he gets the deal done with Ben?
Ben has been underpaid and I think he deserves a nice big contract but as we all know he’s getting older. Do the Pistons want to invest that kind of money on Ben? I certainly don’t see them giving him a max contract. Who knows how it will play out, it all depends on how happy Dumars can make Big Ben.
So until then I am not going to think about all the things that might go down. There will always be rumors and until we hear something official they are just empty words.
THE FUTURE’S IN THE FRO!
Even though they cant give Big Ben a max contract, I think they will still resign him. I think he’s a big part of the team…
But who knows what Dumars has up his sleeve. Lets hope its something good.
I think we need to keep Ben to keep us alive!
Pistons have to re-sign ben he’s our heart and our soul of team…we will sign him 🙂
Ben is still the heart of the Pistons. He symbolizes what they stand for. Ben goes, I go too (as a fan)!!! – Not than anyone would care…
Hey Natalie,
Even if they don’t sign Ben, they can’t use that money to get a free agent. I don’t know if they are posturing by playing tough, but to be honest, the best thing they can do is sign Ben and Cato, and then trade Cato to someone. Otherwise, we are kinda limited in how much money can be spent on new players.
When I get this info together, I’ll drop you an email.
It would be pretty heartbreaking to see big ben go.. but Dumars is the one that put this elite team together.. So I believe he will make the right choice when it all goes down..
In Dumars we trust-

If you look at the Pistons History Stats Ben Wallace have made a great mark. I think Ben Wallace is a strong player, maybe Carlos Delfino have to be trade.

ben you can’t leave, our team would fall apart you r the best we need you
there’s a reason flip doesn’t run many plays for ben. because ben simply has a lack of offensive talent. as good a defensive player as he is, the pistons can’t rely on ben for points in the paint when they really need them- on cold nights. we all saw it in miami- none of the shooters stepped up so the pistons were a lost cause because they don’t have a center to dump the ball in to. when shaq scores 35 and ben scores 6, thats a problem. and yes, we all marvel at ben’s high-flying swats and soaring rebounds, but his shooting is disturbing. the pistons need ben on defense but his lack of offense may have been the deciding factor in these playoffs. my opinion: get a center who’s defensive minded but also knows how to put the ball in the hoop, and i might even go so far as to suggest someone like zydrunas ilgauskas. unfortunately, basketball is not a game of defense alone. joe’s holding on to ben for the fans, and he knows it.
i think ben should go because he think respest is over rated so he should go the pistons dont need that well ben u do not have my respest but i know u dont care.u want to be in the offense more then try u suck at offense play defense thats what your good at and the pistons cant give ben a max contract then hes going to go because he wants more money i say we sign and trade him and delfino for kg thats good at offense and defense and then the pistons well be the best and ben well be playing for the timberwolves and he well have a max contract there and he well be happy for a littie
i think ben should go because he think respest is overrated well ben you dont have my respest but i know u dont care ben wants to be more in the offense then try you suck at offense do defense that what yoyr good at the pistons cant give ben a max contract then hes going to go because he want more money i say we sign amd trade ben amd delfino for kg that good at offense and defense and improve the beach the pistons well be the best and ben well have a max contract and be happy for a little with the timberwovles o and people that say ben the heart and soul of the pistons well your wrong hes been bad this year both ways this is bens 10 year in the nba hes getting old the older ben gets the more he sucks and if he stays with the pistons well we wont be that good
resign big ben and maybe add grant hill to the bench
The anonymous guy above me is right! Ben if you want to be part of offense then MAke something happen instead of throwing it away when u get it… and missing freethrows…
peace
i know im right
bye bye ben hello kg thp istons sould do a sign and trade ben and 1stround pick delfino for kg
this is like how shaq was in LA he was trade to heat for odam and two other guys .and with the pistons ben i im looking to see what happens with ben and if we get kg I WANT KG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sign ben wallace, 2 years, not max contract, improve the bench during that time, so that when ben retires in 2 yrs, we have a nice deep bench, and all we’ll need is a good center to replace him. dont sign kg. he’ll screw up the team chemistry. flip is a really good reg. season coach, but hes not suited for playoff basketball. we gotta get him ready next season.
ANONYMOUS GUY ABOVE WHAT R U SMOKING BEN SUCKED THIS YEAR HES GETTIN OLDER HES GOING TO BE REALLY BAD BUT KG HE PLAYS LIKE HE JUST STARED THE NAB KG NOT GOING TO MESS OF THE CHEMISTRY BEN WELL HE TO OLD AND BAD I MEAN HOW DO U SHOT LIKE 30 SOMETHING FROM THE FREE THROW LINE HE MESSING UP THE FREE THROW CHEMISTRY COME ON I CAN DO BETTER THEN THAT BEN YOU NEED TO GO TIME FOR NEW GUYS IM WE GET KG THAT WOULD BE THE BEST LINE UP BECAUES KG GOOD AT BOTH ENDS BEN ONLY GOOD AT ONE END ON THE COURT AND IF WE GET SOME FREE AGENTS TO IMPOVE THE BEACH WE WILL BE WELL GOOD I CANT SEE US WINNING ANOTHER NBA TITLE WITH BEN IN THE PICTURE HE WAY TO OLD AND GETTING BAD TIME FOR KG TO GET A RING
STARES NEXT YEAR: RIP TAY BILLUPS SHEED AND KG (FACT) AND BEACH:AL HARINGTON BOBBY JACKSON AND NO TONY DELK BUT OTHER THEN THAT THE BEACH IS THE SAME (FACT) AL AND BOBBY ARE BOTH FREE AGENTS AND AL WELL BE EASY HE DOSE NOT WANT A LOT OF MONEY BOBBY MAY BE A LIL HARDER
GET KG, DROP THE BENCH CEPT FOR DYESS, LET HUNTER RETIRE, GET SOME REAL GUARDS, GET A DOMINANT CENTER, AND IF SHEED DONT PLAY BETTER NEXT SEASON, DROP HIM TOO
Seems like there is a troll who likes to be anonymous here that has lots of time on his hand to be posting a bunch of anti-ben comments and then replying to himself..
Lets hope for Big Ben’s return to detriot next year.
Yea i so agree with u ben fan that anonymous person keeps writing crap bout the pistons.anonymous y are u on this site if u dont like the team. RESIGN BEN!!
christina i love the pistons i hate ben i went to see him and tay and rip after the won the finals he didnt even look at didnt even say hi that where i lost my respet for ben
on christina im the anonymous guy that said the next year stares and beach
I believe that the Pistons can still win without Ben. He is a very good defensive player, but he hurts us in the scoring department, especialy with free throws. He and Flip dont see eye to eye, and Dumars has made it clear that Flip is staying, so I say free up some cap room and get a solid big man who can get us 10 points and 8 boards a game and bring a couple of instant offense guys to come off the bench. We can win without Ben.
Ben Wallace is a pimp and a huge asset to the pistons. Wallace didn’t play as well this year but he still has his magic and if flip wants the pistons to win next year he needs to help the entire team have better cohesion.
