Detroit Pistons vs. Utah Jazz Preview 1-07-2006

by | Jan 7, 2006 | 0 comments

The Utah Jazz were one of the dominate west coast teams of the 90’s and the earlier part of this decade. Well Jerry Sloan is still there but they have a whole new cast of characters. December 12th was a foul filled game, Louis Grillo and Eddie Rush really stuck it to the Pistons. With most of the starters in foul trouble and their frustrations showing, The Pistons let the refs get in their heads while the Jazz kept their cool. The Jazz didn’t beat us we beat ourselves, afterwards in the locker room a very quiet, Ben Wallace was heard saying under his breath, “That s*** will never happen again.” Not sure what he meant by never again but you can believe it won’t be good for the Jazz on Saturday. With that said let’s get to the good stuff.

C – Ostertag vs. Ben (Big Body) Wallace – No Contest, expect the FRO to come out and all hell to break loose. Rebound Row is going to stretch all the way around the building and out to the parking lot by the time “Body” is done with the Jazz.
Advantage – Detroit

PF – M. Okur vs. Sheed – Okur scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against The Pistons forwards the last time these two teams met. We all know what Sheed does when a team has a good game against him. Just ask AC Green about the 2000 Western Conference Finals Game 4.
Advantage – Detroit

SF- Andrei (AK47) Kirilenko vs. Tay – In their last meeting AK47 did what he does most games, he gives The Pistons fits. He was all over the floor the last time the two teams met. With a great showing of 22 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists, Tayshaun had a really hard time handling AK47 because they are both long and lean, and play very similar styles of ball.
Advantage – Jazz

SG – Devin Brown vs. Rip – Rip had a very bad shooting night the last time we played the Jazz. All-Stars don’t have two bad games against the same team twice. Devin Brown will have to take an aspirin after this one.
Advantage – Detroit

PG – Milt Palacio vs. Chauncey (MVP) Billups – No Contest, just look at the stat sheet after the MVP is done with this bum.
Advantage – Detroit

Benches – Jazz Deron Williams, Matt Harping vs. Pistons Dice, Carlos Delfino and Carlos Arroyo – We all know the bench has had trouble the last couple of games, they really need to keep the same intensity the starters have and get rolling if we plan to keep this league leading record going. Deron Williams could cause some problems since The Pistons didn’t see him the last time the two teams met because he was out with an ear infection. Expect Carlos Arroyo to show Jerry Sloan what he’s missing out on.
Advantage – Detroit

Coaches – Jerry Sloan vs. Flip – Classic strategy match up here. Two winning coaches with fire and passion for the game going at it, watch this chess match closely.
Advantage – Pistons

Oh how sweet revenge is, oh how sweet it is INSHEED. This one will be over early, very early.

IN SHEED WE TRUST!
