It took The Pistons 58 minutes to take down the Grizzlies in Memphis Monday night. Off to a fast start Detroit led most of the game but Memphis roared back in the 4th and forced Detroit into a double overtime battle.

Pau Gasol led the Grizzlies with 32 points, 14 rebounds and scored in the final seconds of regulation and the first overtime to force the extra periods. The Pistons had the ball in the last seconds of regulation and both overtimes but couldn’t convert until Chauncey Billups 15 footer with 0.3 seconds left in the second OT.

Chauncey Billups led the Pistons with 30, Tayshaun Prince scored 24 points and Rip added 19. Rasheed who got into early foul trouble had just 9 points but surprisingly played from late in the 4th with 5 fouls and was able to finish the game without fouling out.

It’s games like this that make me feel like I am nine years old again and standing in front of my whole school trying to spell timorous in the Spelling Bee (really happened, I lost by the way). I get nervous, fidgety and stressed then I close my eyes and swear I cant watch anymore. I change the channel or leave the room and call everyone I know and tell them how scared I am and I just can’t watch, ” please tell me when the game is over”, I beg to whoever will listen. At the end of regulation I actually held my breath thinking maybe if I did we would make the shot and all would be right in the world. Nope! Maybe If I don’t watch they will pull ahead, it’s probably me right? I have always been a Jinx. Nope! Dammit I forgot to put on my lucky Pistons hat, that’s it for sure. Nope! Mind you I do this until the end of the game one thing after the other until my beloved Pistons prevail. Im nuts, I know but it brings out the child in me no matter how hard I try to suppress it. It’s all part of the game I guess, true fans know what I mean. Pistons 4 Life, there is just no other way for me.
