The 2-6 Pistons are in Chicago to take on the 7-2 Bulls. The Pistons will again be without Rodney Stuckey as well as Charlie Villanueva, both out with injuries.

With players out for Detroit, guys like Tayshaun Prince really need to step up their games to contend with a very good Bulls team.  This will be the last time I’m going to call out Ben Gordon…if he doesn’t have a big game against his former team tonight, chances are he never will.

  • The good: More playing time for rookie Brandon Knight that will be starting at PG in place of Rodney Stuckey.
  • The bad: MVP Derrick Rose. This Bulls team has yet to lose a game at home and their good.
  • The unknown: Rip Hamilton is a game time decision, as well as is Austin Daye.

  • The good: It’s hard to give a good right now, but it helps that this is a home game and one of the last games (besides Boston) against a solid team.
  • The bad:The Pistons have dropped from 3-29 when giving up 100 or more points.

The 23-44 Pistons are back in action Wednesday night to host the 18-48 Toronto Raptors.

The Pistons are coming off a 0-3 road trip while the Raptors are currently on the longest road losing streak in franchise history, have only beaten five teams away from home this season.

Guess what Pistons fans, Detroit is one of those teams.

The Raptors are looking for their first road win in more than two months and a fourth consecutive victory at The Palace of Auburn Hills.  The Pistons are just looking for stop the bleeding from what has been one of the worst seasons on and off the court many of us can remember.

  • The good: The Pistons have taken 2 out of 3 in the series this season.  And not necessarily about this game, but it’s nice that Terrico White had a chance to practice with the team for the first time since the pre-season.
  • The bad: The Pistons and the Raptors.
  • The unknown: Another lineup change?

The 21-38 Pistons bring the drama back home as they take on 32-27 Utah Jazz Saturday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.  Turmoil aside, the Pistons have not beaten Utah since March 13, 2005.

As stunned coaches and teammates watched, Hamilton bellowed at Kuester that he had been a failure in his two seasons in Detroit, blown the opportunity the franchise afforded him and was nothing more than a career assistant coach, sources said. Despite Hamilton yelling within inches of him, Kuester didn’t respond.
Pistons coach John Kuester has played Richard Hamilton in one game since Jan. 10.

Several of the team’s younger players were mortified watching it and privately told agents and associates they wished they had the courage to stand up, confront Hamilton and try to take control back from the disgruntled veteran. Nevertheless, Hamilton influences a powerful lobby in the Pistons’ locker room, including veteran leaders Tayshaun Prince and Ben Wallace.

The early January incident was the second time Hamilton had initiated a confrontation with Kuester this season, sources said, and it ultimately spurred the benching that led to such public acrimony. Via Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo.

The 21-36 Pistons will host the 26-31 Houston Rockets in their first game back from the All-Star break. Detroit needs to get off to a strong start to the second half of the season if they plan on making the playoffs. A win against the Rockets could be just what Detroit (who are 4 1/2 games back) needs to make a push for that last spot in the East.

  • The good: The Pistons are coming off a win.

The bad: Tayshaun Prince:”I’m not going anywhere”. Q: So you are not being traded? Prince: “No”. Q: How do you know? Prince: “Cuz I know”. via @deryNBA

  • The unknown: Luis Scola and his hair, will he or won’t he torch Detroit.

Win …win…win!

What it means for me?  Well the Pistons are also giving “local bloggers” the opportunity to cover the game and an access to Charlie Villanueva for an exclusive post-game media interview. I’ll be there with my Pistons FlipVideo in hand and I’m sure I’ll be tweeting away.

The other good thing for you if you attend the Pistons Social Media Night, it’s one of the only times I’ll be taking autograph requests…I kid.

Hope to see you there.

Something odd happened at the Palace Saturday night. The Pistons not only won two in a row, but they outscored their opponent 51-36 thanks to a dominant third quarter to narrowly escape with a 106-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

Key Points:

  • The Pistons with almost not defense in the first half. To extra defense in the second half that led to the Kings shooting just 31%.
  • Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 21 points on 9-for13 shooting with 6 boards, a steal and 3 assists.

  • Tracy McGrady left in early in the first quarter with a shin injury and didn’t return.
  • No matter, Will Bynum stepped in with 18 points and some key plays in the Pistons victory. This was one of them
  • Bynumite block by will in crunch time.

Kuester on the Block: “I had to ask somebody, ‘Was that Will?’ He had one of those games where he changed the complexion of the game.”

  • Detroit out-rebounded 45-30.
  • As is we didn’t know, Rip with another DNP while all teams involved try to get the trade done.
  • Charlie Villanueva was stellar off the bench for Detroit. CV31 with 16 points , 2 assists and 2 boards.

Villanueva: “We just buckled down in the second half, they were making everything.” “It was more of a mental thing. It was intensity, we got the stops we needed.”

  • Thank the Pistons bench for this one, who combined for 52 points.
  • Ben Gordon looking better after returning to the bench putting up 16 Saturday night.
  • Yes that was Detroit who held the Kings to just 10 points in the third quarter.
  • I’m liking what Chris Wilcox is doing every game. And boy can he throw one down with authority when he has the chance.
  • Stucktacular game from stuck who put up 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting and did a heck of a job defensively on Evans in the second half. Stuckey at the two…is number one in my book.
