The 4-7 #Pistons are back at The Palace to play the back end of their home-and-home against 7-5 Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Both teams came out of the gate slow in their first meeting Wednesday night, and you could see that their schedules had something to do with it. Atlanta had a tough loss in Miami Tuesday and Detroit, who ho just came back from a long West coast road, trip played the Knicks Tuesday night got on a plane to take on the Hawks 24 hours later.

Detroit will try to redeem themselves at home for a game that could have easily been a win. It was clear that the Pistons ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. Some may consider this a scheduling loss, but the Pistons aren’t making any excuses.

  • The good: Surprising to most, Rodney Stuckey has been the most consistent Piston.  Stuckey who’s providing a spark off the bench for the Pistons, is knocking down his shots and keeping Detroit in games. Stuckey is averaging 17.8 points in the Pistons last four games.  Even after the collapse in Atlanta, Basketball Odds at SportsBettingOnline.ag are on the Detroits’ favor.
  • The bad: Former Hawk Josh Smith didn’t set Atlanta on fire in the Pistons Wednesday night loss, in fact Smith matched his second lowest point total for the season with just 11 against his former team. Could it have been his not so warm reception by the organization and its fans? Smith received a slightly warm response during the  introductions, but only real applause he got on the night was after the first timeout of the game when a “Thanks Josh Smith” message was up on the big screen. The applause he got every time he missed a shot doesn’t count right?
Hometown boy Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also didn’t fare well  going just 1 of 9 for four points.
  • The unknown: Chauncey Billups and Will Bynum are still listed as day-to-day.

Stat: Rodney Stuckey leads the Eastern Conference in bench scoring, ave raging 14.6 off the bench.
Andre Drummond is till leading the NBA in field goal percentage with 65.0%.
Fact: Charlie Villanueva needs four points to reach 6000 career points. Questions is, will he ever get any playing time to do it.

Head out to the Palace of Auburn Hills to see if Josh Smith can make some three’s against his former team. Tickets as low as $10   – Offer Code : gopistons

The 7-15 #Pistons are in Philadelphia to close out their quick road trip against the 11-9 76ers Monday night.

  • The good: The last time these two team met, the Pistons picked up their first win of the season on Greg Monore’s 19 points and 18 boards.
  • The bad: The Sixers are shooting just 42.5 percent, one of the worst in the team.
  • The unknown: What’s more likely, a monster game from Greg Monroe another Pistons road win or both?

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

If you’re thinking of going to the Pistons vs. Nuggets Tuesday night at the Palace you can get in the door for as little as $3!

The 13-26 #Pistons are hosting the 23-13 Atlanta Hawks Friday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.  The Hawks have won the past three against Detroit and  nine of the last 12. They’ve also taken the last two at The Palace.

  • The good: The Pistons are winners of 7 of their last 10 at home.
  • The bad: Brandon Knight’s no-show against the Lakers.
  • Who to watch: Josh Smith, who has asked for a trade out of Atlanta. So start talking about who to give up to get Smith in a Pistons uniform.
  • The unknown: Atlanta’s leading scorer Joe Johnson has missed four straight games and six of seven with a knee injury, but his status is unknown against the Pistons.

Head out to the game and get this cool Brandon Knight Poster.  Plus a Doug E. Fresh Halftime show.

The 12-26 #Pistons will host the 23-14 Lakers Tuesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Los Angeles has won five straight from the Pistons, including three in a row at The Palace of Auburn Hills by an average of 13.3 points.

  • The good: Brandon Knight is averaging 16.9 points over his last seven games.
  • The bad: Remember last time the Lakers were at the Palace and Rip Hamilton decided to get tossed minutes into the game and then Kobe went off to score 33 on Detroit?
  • Who to watch:Kobe Bryant and all the Kobe Bryant jerseys at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
  • The unknown: On of the worst nights in my eyes if you’re a Pistons fan to go to the Palace for a game. Who will have more fans in the seats Kobe Bryant fans or Pistons fans?

Fresh off of 3 straight wins, the #Pistons return to The Palace of Auburn Hills to host the New Jersey Nets.  If three consecutive victories and another chance to see the Pistons take on the Nets  isn’t enough to get you to Auburn Hills, than I’m pretty sure you’re going because it’s Star Wars Night.

The fist 10 thousand fans to walk in the door get a limited edition, individually numbered Pistons/Star Wars poster.  Over 25 Star Wars characters from the movie will be at the Palace to greet fans prior to and during the game. If that weren’t enough a never before seen video by Lucas Films will be shown at halftime.

I’m going all out and have decided to dress up as Princess Leia.  So if you see someone with two Cinnabuns over their ears say hello!

I don’t know about you, but forget the Storm Trooper…this is the guy who I want to greet me at the Palace doors.

Star Wars Night at The Palace May The Gores Be With You

May The Gores Be With You

I have been doing the whole “May the Gores be with you” bit since Tom bought the team, because I happen to think it’s funny and fitting.  So I just want to thank Mike Antonich for coining the phrase and for tweeting it to me one night after talking about our favorite basketball team and their new owner.

If you want to head out tho the game you can get a great deal on tickets directly from the Palace with no ticket fees.

The 4-15 Pistons are back home for 80′s night to host the 13-6 Atlanta Hawks at the Palace of Auburn Hills. T-Mac and Jerry Stackhouse, two former Pistons will be in the house to play a game of basketball, but most importantly to see Morris Day during his halftime show. Not to mention get their copy of this dreamy Jonas Jerebko Poster.

  • The good: This team showed that they could compete with any team on any given night.
  • The bad: That doesn’t mean they have learned how to win against any team on any given night.  No Bynum, Gordon, Charlie V and T Prince is a game time decision for family reasons.  The Pistons are the only team yet to reach 100 points in a game.
  • Who to watch: T-Mac, Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, Knight, Monroe and hopefully Daye again.
  • The unknown: Will this the team that showed up Wednesday night at the Palace against Miami show tonight.

Have some Ice at the Palace

“We are pleased to announce the entertainment line-ups for our upcoming theme nights which include exclusive player themed poster give-a-ways for the first 10,000 fans in attendance at each game and halftime musical entertainment,” said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Lifestyle Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Pistons. “Theme nights are a fun way to provide our fans with additional entertainment elements at our games.”

The club will host “I love the ‘80’s” night on Friday, January 27 when the Pistons square off against Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and the Atlanta Hawks at 7:30 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The give-a-way item for that night is a commemorative Jonas Jerebko poster and halftime musical entertainment will feature 1980’s hit-maker Morris Day.

Younger Pistons’ fans won’t want to miss “Totally ‘90’s” night on Friday, February 3 when Detroit hosts Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 p.m. at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Ben Gordon poster and the halftime musical performer will be 1990’s rapper Vanilla Ice, who’s single “Ice Ice Baby” was the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts.”

I’m all over it!

Even though my team is going through some tough times, I’m going to head out to the games to give them support. I can’t wait for my Greg Monroe Poster on Friday night.

And don’t think I’m not going to head out to mock Vanilla Ice. Who wouldn’t want more comedy at the half than during the game?

At the last minute someone handed me two tickets to see the Dallas Mavericks take on the Pistons at the Palace. I wasn’t planning on going to Tuesday night’s game, especially after witnessing the beat down on Saturday night. But when someone hands you tickets to see your favorite team, no matter what you already have planned, you go. Or at least I do.

Big mistake on my part.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate how lucky I am to get to see the Pistons play in person, but right now it just plain hurts to watch them.

Could this team be worse than the teams of the dreaded “teal” era? They can’t be right?

This team has great young talent like Greg Monroe, Jonas Jerebko, Brandon Knight and Rodney Stuckey. On paper they have a team that looks like they can compete better than six game blowout steak.

Greg Monroe vs The Heat

We watch Greg Monroe progress with each game, with absolutely no help down low. We are watch Brandon Knight’s baptism by fire trying to lead this team at the point with limited practices and no training camp. We watch whatever kind of funk that Austin Daye is in. We watch Tayshaun Prince getting old in front of our eyes. We watch Ben Gordon be the player that took his Bulls uniform off and then forgot how to shoot. We watch Ben Wallace give it his all in limited minutes.

We watch fewer and fewer people at the Palace. In fact the crowd last night looked more like a Shock game than it did a Pistons team against the World Champions. Sadly about the only time you’re going to see a decent crowd in the place will be when Miami and the Lakers come to town.

Is it fair to say that last night (or pick a night for that matter) this team looked like a JV team playing in the NBA? By the time I could blink they had already turned the ball over 10 times.

Does anyone remember the good times when the Pistons would go a consecutive games with 3 turnovers or less?

I haven’t seen a coach this vocal with the players in quite some time. By the end of the season Lawrence Frank is going to have way less hair than he already does.

What we are really doing is watching the madness unfold right before our eyes.

If something doesn’t change, this team will be right were a lot of people wanted them to be last season. At the head of the pack for lottery balls. Trouble with that…this draft class doesn’t have a true superstar and knowing the Pistons luck this would be the year they got the #1 pick.

On any given night, you can search this site or twitter for the #FireJoeDumars chant, and that I can understand, but I don’t agree with.

Bless the Pistons employees for trying to make the best of what they are watching, especially Blaha, Kelser and Matt Dery, who have to put a positive spin on what they know is a horrible product.

I’ve just resigned this season to be one of pain, and hopefully growth. If you can make it though with me than you’ll be a bigger fan years down the road. It happens to every team at one time or another, be strong.

And sorry Mr. Gores…no returns, exchanges or refunds on this one.
