The #Pistons got off to a great start Sunday night against the Celtics, leading by as much as 18 points. The Celtics however came right back and were down just four at the half. The Pistons didn’t let this one go, by playing solid after the half and amassing a 16 point lead to beat Boston 88-103 to snap their two game losing streak.

Key Points:

  • The Twin Towers are really making this Pistons team fun to watch. Greg and Andre combined for 31 points.
  • Nice try Doc, fouling Drummond and sending him to the line didn’t work out for you. Drummond made six of his eight free throw attempts.
  • I know I keep looking at Brandon Knight with a fine tooth comb every day, but if you look at his stat line against Will Bynum’s for Sunday night they look pretty similar until you get to turnover and minutes. Brandon and Will each scored 15 points, each has a steal, and 5 assists. Knight grabbed more boards, but had seven turnovers to Will’s one. Is Knight regressing…or is it just me?

  • It was a nice win, and nice to see the Pistons bounce back after giving up most of their lead before the half. Also nice to see a big crowd at the Palace, but I can attest that to the many Celtics fans in the building Sunday night.
  • Lawrence Frank needs to fix the Pistons turnover problems. Thankfully the Celtics turned the ball over a lot themselves. The two teams combined for 39 givebacks in the game.
  • How great is a nice Drummond Dunk? Andre finished the game with 16 points, ten of them by way of slam, with seven boards, a steal and a blocked shot in 20:19 minutes. So, when are we going to see the big guy in the starting lineup?

  • Another double-double for Greg Monroe who scored 15 points and 11 boards, not to mention that his five assists matched that of the Pistons two point guards. He’s been so solid, while keeping himself almost under the radar.
  • Has Singler shaken he woes? He put up a solid game scoring 15 with eight boards, three steals a blocked shot and five assists. That’s got to be one of his best games since being inserted into the starting lineup.
  • Jason Maxiell with 4 ridiculous blocked shots.
  • Tayshuan added 14 points.
  • Who thought, “here we go again” when Boston fought back and got the game to 55-54?
  • Stuckey with just three points.
  • Nothing like beating the Celtics. Well unless it’s the Lakers.
  • Four straight over the Celtics.
  • You can say it if you’d like. The Pistons are getting closer and closer to that last playoff spot in the East.
  • Tuesday at home against Orlando should be a good one.

The 14-25 #Pistons are hosting the 20-19 Boston Celtics Sunday Night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: Detroit has won the last three against the Celtics at the Palace. The Celtics have been streaky all season long and are coming off back-to-back losses at home, none worse than the OT loss to Chicago on a Belinelli off-balance shot to win.
  • The bad: The Pistons, like the Celtics run hot and cold, hopefully the loss in London doesn’t start a trend.
  • The unknown: Will…”The Thrill” play more minutes than Brandon Knight, who’s been in a huge funk of late?

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

If you’re thinking of going to the Saturday night at the Palace, you can get tickets directly from the Pistons with NO FEES

The #Pistons dug themselves a deep hole in London when they scored the games first two points and then let the Knicks score the next 16 points. Will Bynum and sparked a late third quarter run to get the Pistons within four points of the Knicks, but the Knicks came right back. Another Bynum rally got them close again in the fourth, but again the Knicks came right back to beat the Pistons 102-87.

Key Points:

  • Very cool to see the Pistons play on the big stage, too bad they didn’t look better doing it. I’m just happy that they didn’t get blown out because it looked awful when they were down 16-2.
  • Will Bynum led the Pistons with 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting with four assists and a steal in 29 minutes. You have to appreciate Bynum who sparked two runs for Detroit to get them back in the game and not embarrass themselves in London. He even went on a person 7-0 run in the fourth quarter.

  • You know I love me some Bynum, but when he’s the Pistons best player of the game it means people are not doing their jobs.
  • Speaking of people not doing their jobs…what’s up with Brandon Knight? He scored one point on 0-of-4 shooting in 18 minutes.
  • Andre Drummond helped Will get the Pistons back in the game. He posted another double-double with 11 points, 10 boards and two blocked shots. Per minute, he’s the Pistons best player of late.
  • Moose also with 11 and 10 boards.
  • Knicks are three-point shooting fools. They make them and they win, plain and simple.

  • Nice to see Bill Laimbeer in the house.
  • Great game by Singler, who was also responsible for helping the Pistons stay in the game. Kyle with one of the better games he played in the last couple of months. He finished with 15 points, 4 assists, 3 boards and a blocked shot.
  • A minute and twenty-five seconds for Kravtsov.
  • Prince with 12 on the night.
  • Not a great way to get overseas Pistons fans after that game, but I know quite a few Pistons fans in London got to finally see their team play in person, and that to me is pretty cool.
  • Sunday night against the Celtics at The Palace.

The Utah Jazz continue to have success against the Detroit #Pistons adding another victory in their match-up Saturday night. The Jazz rallied back from a 15 point deficit to beat the Pistons 90-87 at the Palace.

Key Points:

  • Detroit was executing and dominating the Jazz in the first half. The Jazz came out on a mission after the half and the Pistons seemed to start their London trip early, pretty much laying down and taking it. They did however fight back and have a chance to tie with a three pointer, but a non call on a Brandon Knight three sealed the victory for the Jazz.
  • You can be bitter about the non call on Knight, but the way the Jazz played in the second half they deserved this one.
  • Brandon Knight scored 16 on 7-of-16 shooting with just one assist on the night. The criticism will keep coming until Brandon plays his position better or he gets moved to playing the two. He’s hot and cold, but this season he seems more on the cold side.
  • Good turn out at the Palace, seems as though the Pistons recent winning ways are getting more fans in the building.
  • Al Jefferson is so underrated.
  • Greg Monroe was shut down in the second half. He still finished the night with his 14th double-double of the season scoring 12 with 11 boards, but his seven turnovers overshadowed just about anything he did.
  • Quiet couple of games for Tayshaun. He put up eight with three boards and three assists in 33 minutes on the floor.
  • It’s really starting to look like the Pistons need a true point guard on this team, something they haven’t had since Dumars traded Chauncey Billups. They do have Bynum, but I doubt he’ll ever get the starting job.
  • Speaking of Will, he played great scoring 13 on 6-of-6 shooting with 4 assist and three steals. It was a Bynumite steal by Will at the end of the game that gave the Pistons a chance as the clock wound down.

  • Daye scored five on 1-of-3 shooting and Villanueva scored four on 1-of-5 shooting.
  • Stuckey with nine points on 2-of-6 shooting and two assists.
  • 17 turnover for Detroit.
  • Andre Drummond was solid again scoring nine on 4-of-5 shooing with five boards and a blocked shot. I knew he was going to be good, but honestly I didn’t know he’d be this good this quickly. We will soon be sending holiday cards to the eight teams that passed on him.

  • Gotta love the Bynum/Drummond chemistry lately.
  • Will Greg Monroe adjust defensively when Andre starts?
  • Singler didn’t stuff the stats putting up just two shots and making them both in his 19 minutes.
  • The Pistons biggest lead was 15, Utah’s 13.
  • Besides Singler’s +2, Jason Maxiell was the only Pistons with a + in the box (+10). Jason finished with seven points, three assists, six boards and three blocked shots.
  • Off to London for the Pistons, so we have to set our DVR’s for the 3pm start.

The 14-23 #Pistons are hosting the 19-19 Utah Jazz Saturday Night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: Drummond and Monroe are playing extremely well.
  • The bad: The Jazz have won 14 of 16 against the Pistons.
  • The unknown: Can Detroit break the Jazz jinx?

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

The #Pistons got back to work Friday night in Milwaukee after a long layoff and took down the Bucks 103-87 thanks to a 26 points from Greg Monroe and a stellar fourth quarter from Brandon Knight.  The win adds to the Pistons great play of late, who are now winners of five of their last seven games, the two losses coming in overtime.

Key Points:

  • Greg Monroe was superb game scoring 12 points in the third quarter pulling Detroit ahead after trailing 49-41 at the half.  Greg put up his 13th double-double of the season with 26 points, 11 boards, 2 assists and a steal.  He was also a ridiculous +35 in the box.  Greg looks like he has shaken off whatever funk he was in a few weeks back.

  • Knight took over in the fourth quarter for Detroit making sure the lead Greg helped gain didn’t go to waste.  He finished with 20 points, four boards, 2 steals and a +28 in the box.
  • Block Party!
  • Andre again looked like the future of the team with 11 boards, 8 points and 4 freaking blocked shots in just 17 minutes on the floor.

Andre Drummond Cartoon QuoteAndre Drummond: “At the start of the season when things wouldn’t go our way, we got down on ourselves. We know what we need to do now. We fight and compete every day. When good things happen, we’re excited, knowing we’ve worked hard to get to this point.”

  • Kyle Singler with 10 points, three assists and four boards.  He’s been looking like he’s stuck in this rut that really makes him more of a sixth many than anything else.
  • However I think Stuckey has been playing better coming off the bench.  He put up seven points with four assists a steal and two blocked shots in 22 minutes.
  • Maxiell helped the Pistons go on the run in the third quarter and finished the game 10 points and seven boards.
  • The Pistons outscored Milwaukee 33-11 in the third quarter and kept on rolling.
  • The Bucks has 12 blocked shots on the night.
  • The sign of Pistons youth movement, 20 fast break points.
  • Saturday night vs the Jazz at the Palace.

The Bobcats took the Pistons to overtime and then took the game from them snapping Detroit’s four game winning streak 108-101.

Key Points:

  • Detroit let at team that won just one in 20 games break their four game winning streak.
  • Is anyone as frustrated as I am at Rodney Stuckey’s last shot in regulation?  He finished the game with 18 on 6-of-11 shooting with three steals and an assist.
  • How do you lose when you’re shooting 70% on the night and put up a season high 60 points at the half? Did Frank watch what was happening?
  • I’ve said this before and I hope I don’t keep having to say it.  Frank needs to figure out what to do when his team goes for long stretches without scoring the basketball.

  • 22 – The Pistons had as many assist as they did turnovers.
  • Moose with another Monster game.   He was all over the boards putting up another double-double with 18 points,  14 boards and six assists.  It looks like whatever was ailing him is long gone.
  • Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 21 points and seven boards.
  • Is everyone really this down on Brandon Knight that they think Detroit should trade him? He finished the game with 12 on 5-of-11 shooting with one assist and four turnovers.
  • This game was just difficult to watch.
  • Did you know that Andre Drummond its 10th in the league in blocks per minutes?Blocks-per-40-minutesVia HoopsStats
  • Andre finished with 10 points, six boards and three blocked shots in 27 minutes.

  • I can sum it up in one word…disappointing.
  • They have till Friday to right the ship when they take on the Bucks.

The 13-22 #Pistons will host the 8-24 Bobcats at The Palace of Auburn Hills Sunday night. Detroit looks to extend their four game winning streak to five, a win streak they haven’t seen in three seasons.

  • The good: The Bobcats…are the Bobcats.
  • The bad: The way the Pistons are closing out games. Ben Gordon can’t even get a starting job on the Bobcats, but he did score 27 off the bench for the Bobcats Friday night.  Gordon can’t even get the NBA to change his picture on their website, he’s still in a Pistons uniform.
  • The unknown:  Can the Pistons convincingly get the win against a turrable Bobcats team.

If you’re thinking of going to the Game Friday night at the Palace, you can get tickets directly from the Pistons with NO FEES

The #Pistons got their revenge against the Hawks Friday night as they hung on to win 85-84. After controlling most of the game and building a 17 point lead, the Hawks went on a 16-0 run and almost tied the game 85-85 with 5 second left on the clock. Thankfully the Horford three-pointer was reduced to a two and the Pistons kept the lead and hung on to win.

Key Points:

  • The Pistons had the ball with 4.9 left and a one point lead, but Prince turned the ball over (bad pass) and gave the Hawks a chance at the win.
  • Austin Daye had a great game and led the Pistons with 20 points (16 first half) on 9-for-11 shooting in 22 minutes on the floor. I can’t remember when Austin’s stock has been this high.
  • Rodney Stuckey looked good in his return from his sprained left ankle. He finished with 10 points, a blocked shot, a steal and two assists in 24 minutes on the floor for Detroit. It was Stuckey who helped spark a 10-2 run to close out the first quarter.
  • Seems as though Kyle Singler’s roll is diminishing.
  • The best part of the game besides the win was this Star Wars Night video they showed at The Palace featuring Andre Drummond.

  • I sat a row behind Billy Dee Williams who was in the house for Star Wars Night. He honestly looks like he hasn’t aged in 20 years.
  • This game should have been a dominating win. Detroit, especially L Frank, has got to know what to do when the team goes into a scoring drought.

  • Besides the dunk, you can thank Andre for partially blocking the last shot attempt of the game by Lou Williams to make sure the Pistons hung on to win this one. Andre finished with six points, nine boards and two blocked shots in 19:45.

  • Solid double-double from Jason Maxiell with 10 points, 10 boards and three blocked shots.
  • Happy Birthday to Will Bynum who scored five with five assists on his 30th Birthday.
  • 52 points in the paint for Detroit.
  • Great game for Monroe who out up 18 points with nine boards, three steals in 33:47.
  • Brandon Knight, 4-for-11 shooting for 8 points.

  • Keep it rolling, a Sunday night win at the Palace against the Bobcats is very likely!

The Pistons hung on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 94-96 Sunday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Despite losing a sizable 15 point lead the Pistons won the game on the last two possessions thanks to four point from Tayshaun Prince.

Key Points:

  • The Pistons led the whole game except the final two minutes.
  • It’s nice to see that the team is learning to finish games.
  • Brandon Knight has taken some heat as of late. He’s having trouble with his shot, he’s getting beat by on defense, and he’s turning the ball over more than the Pistons would like. He did however play solid defense on Ellis on the last shot attempt of the game by the Bucks to help win it. Brandon finished with 11 points on 4-or-12 shooting with three assists, three boards and four turnovers in 34:52 minutes.
  • Singler has also regressed a bit with his shot, but made up for it with some nice defense. Kyle scored eight points on 2-of-11 shooting with seven boards, three steals and a blocked shot in 31:27 on the floor.
  • Double-doubles from Jason Maxiell and Greg Monroe.
  • Jason with 10 points, 10 boards and three assists in 26:20 on the floor including a signature putback jam.

  • The Pistons are winners of 4 of their last five games.
  • Andre Drummond scored eight points with seven boards, a steal and two blocked shots and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Did you ever think Andre Drummond could run the floor like he does?

  • Tayshaun Prince led the team with 20 points, two assists, and two boards int 34:40 on floor. Prince has been solid all season long and there really is no better person on this team to have the ball when the game is on the line.

  • Villanueva with 11 and Daye with 5 points.
  • Need4Sweede still hasn’t touch the floor, but Kim English did.
  • When the Bucks took the lead with 1:06 left in the game all I could think was “great here we go again.” Thankfully they proved me wrong.
  • Rodney Stuckey still sidelined with a bun ankle.
  • Greg Monroe with 14 points, 10 boards, two assists in 28:32 on the floor.
  • Pistons biggest lead 15 the Bucks 2.
  • Will Bynum with eight points and five assists, two more than Brandon Knight.
  • Love this stat – 60 point in the paint for Detroit.
  • Kings, Hawks, Bobcats ad Bucks again. The Pistons have a shot at all of those games.
