In David Aldridge’s article chronicleing the ‘Melo saga he threw in this line.

“A league source said Denver had made a recent attempt to pry Detroit guard Rip Hamilton from the Pistons without success to show Anthony that the organization could still put talented players around him.”

Most Pistons fan would think this was possible considering the fact that Rip and Chauncey are 2 peas in a pod but Pistons insiders don’t buy this one.

Just follow Matt Dery @deryNBA as well as M’Live’s Chris Iott @Chris_Iott and the Vincent Goodwill  @vgoodwill of the Detroit News on Twitter for the inside scoop.

If you really think about it, what could Denver offer Detroit for Rip?  Rip has 38 million over the next three seasons.  To keep  Mello, Chancey, Rip together they would have to give up Nene and more which I doubt would happen.

Trust Matt and the gang…this one is doesn’t work.

UPDATE: From Chris Iott of MLive

“A source with the Detroit Pistons said today that there is absolutely no truth to the report that the Denver Nuggets tried to acquire Pistons guard Richard Hamilton in a last-ditch effort to keep Carmelo Anthony in Denver.”

Matt Dery of 97.1 The Ticket is reporting

A source at the airport has confirmed to 97.1 The Ticket’s Matt Dery that Charlie Villenueva also missed the team plane yesterday to Philadelphia and had to fly commercial. Villenueva would not elaborate on his tweets from yesterday at today’s shootaround before the Pistons game with the 76ers.
“It was just me being frustrated,” Villanueva said. “Venting a little. It’s been a frustrating year. It’s just one of those things that I wanted to vent a little bit. It is what it is. Leave it at that and get ready for tonight.”
When asked specifically what happened Monday, Villanueva laughed and said: “You ain’t going to get that out of me. Things happen, and sometimes you get frustrated and your emotions get the best of you. But it’s in the past now, and let’s move forward.”

Great…the drama continues.

Funny thing, Charlie has too much respect for Joe D to say what he meant by the tweets, but he’s showing just how childish and selfish he is from is actions.

To think….Charlie Villanueva is making 6.5 million dollars this season.  Jonas Jerebko is making 450 thousand.

Should you really be complaining Charlie?  Jonas has put you to shame and hasn’t complained one bit that all you have to do is sneeze and you make more money than he does.

Matt Dery of 97.1 The Ticket

I spoke to one Pistons source who tells me that practice yesterday turned in to a bit of a bickering-fest, with players and coaches involved (not unusual) and John Kuester even got some frustrated that he allegedly punted a basketball. …..It is funny how there are certain players on this roster who are consistent.. consistent in that they are always complaining and sulking about the coach, no matter who it is.

The Pistons would like to keep the pre-season perfect as they take on The Bucks tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.  Tip off is at 7:30, but unfortunately this one won’t be broadcast on television.  If you want to catch the game you will have to tune into 97.1 The Ticket where of course Matt Dery will be on the pre and post game to take your calls and Ticket Texts (text 97136 from your mobile phone). Charlie Villanueva is not expecting to play tonight against his old squad while he nurses his sore hammy.

Too bad Pistons fans can’t see what Carlos Delfino does against his former team.

Follow the game online or on the radio at 97.1 and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Plenty of things have been swirling when it comes to Detroit’s offseason, but this comes from Yahoo Sport’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who’s been on point and breaking stories left and right.

“Detroit is still exploring ways to make a deal for Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer(notes), but the most likely scenario centers around the free-agent signing of Drew Gooden, or distantly, Boston’s Glen “Big Baby” Davis.”

Take into account that I got word from our Pistons insider Matt Dery of 97.1 the Ticket that Joe isn’t looking to pick up Boozer and he was right about the Afflalo move, so I trust what he’s got to say.
