The 16-26 #Pistons are Miami to take on the 27-12 Heat Friday night.

  • The good: Detroit took the last game against the Heat at the Palace.
  • The bad: The Heat have won five of the last six games against the Pistons in Miami. Losing a 17 point lead to Chicago Wednesday night.
  • The unknown: Will the Pistons ever consistently be able to hold a double-digit lead and win? This season the Pistons have lost 11 games in which they held a double-digit lead. Now that stat is depressing.

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

The #Pistons lost in heartbreaking fashion Wednesday night at the United Center. After domination most of the game, things got sticky in the fourth quarter. Detroit lost a 17 point lead, then came back after the Bulls took a six point lead.

You can say it came down to this play, but had the Pistons not buckled in the fourth quarter they could have finally beat the Bulls. You be the judge on whether Noah stepped out of bound when he saved it.

Key Points:

monroeGreg Monroe: “We had control of the game and it’s another one of those games where we lost control in the fourth quarter, but still, there were a lot of plays I could have made before that. We wouldn’t have been in the predicament we were. It’s definitely a tough loss. We were in position to win, but I think this game, the opportunities we had earlier in the game to make the deficit even bigger for them kind of came back to haunt us.” via Pistons.com

  • That’s 17 in a row that the Bulls have beaten the Pistons.
  • Before the fourth quarter started and the Pistons amassed their lead, the Bulls had to call a timeout to stop the bleeding after a Brandon Knight layup. The joy on the Pistons faces was something I haven’t seen from this team. They looked like they were having a blast taking it to the Bulls. Now they just need to remember that feeling and strive for it for 48 minutes.
  • It was a tough game to watch and I’m sure a tougher one if you’re a Piston. The United Center was packed, the Pistons had the Bulls where they wanted them. I know it’s the players on the court, but Frank needs do something when they start sliding. It was clear that they had everything they needed for a decisive win and that’s the coaches job to get them there.
  • Give credit to the Bulls for coming back on the back of Nate Robinson who played great, but to be quite honest I’m pretty tired of his antics. Call me when you win a Championship Nate, not a dunk contest.
Rodney Stuckey had one of those nights, he finished with 11 on 5-of-16 shooting with three turnovers.

  • Brandon Knight led the Pistons with 13 points and two boards and a really sweet blocked shot on Kirk Hinrich. Just two turnover on the night for Brandon, which is a good sign.
  • Greg Monroe 4-of-13 shooting for nine points and six assists. Greg I love ya but you’re almost seven feet tall…dunk the basketball.
  • Speaking of dunking, Andre Drummond is currently 6th in the league with 68, adding three against the Bulls. He finished the game with eight points, seven boards, a steal and a blocked shot. To me it’s quite clear he’s been the best player on this team, per minute in the last few months.
  • Another great game from Kyle Singler who scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
  • Highlights
  • Friday night against the Heat in Miami.

The 16-25 #Pistons are in Chicago to take on the 24-16 Bulls  Wednesday night.

  • The good: The Pistons are winners of 11 of their last 13 games and are playing well.
  • The bad: The Pistons can’t seem to beat the Bulls.  Not only do they have a terrible road record, they have not beaten the Bulls in Chicago since 2006.
The fact the Jonas Jerebko’s father has chimed in on his not playing and that he’s pretty much had it with Lawrence Frank.
  • The unknown: The status of Lual Deng who has missed the past two games with a strained right hamstring.  Just how many dunks Andre Drummond will get.

The #Pistons took down the Orlando Magic Tuesday night in commanding fashion 90-105. It looked like this would be a battle to the end, with the game close up until the half, but Detroit’s defense held the Magic to just 14 third quarter points allowing the Pistons to build a sizable lead and never look back.

Key Points:

  • The tandem of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond put on the gas to help Detroit dominate the second half.
  • Brandon Knight stepped up his game leading Detroit with 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting with four boards, five assists, three steals and four turnovers. He may not be the Pistons best point guard, but at least his defensive game is getting better.
  • Only the pesky JJ Redick gave the Pistons problems leading all scorers with 26.
  • Jameer Nelson make 2 of this 10 three point attempts. If he was on the Pistons and jacked up 10 three’s he’d probably be sitting where Jonas is.
  • The Pistons were dunking away Tuesday night. Brandon Night put up another decisive dunk, as well as did Andre, but it was the Will Bynum alley-oop to Rodney Stuckey that really was amazing.

  • Andre Drummond hands are amazing, he finishes at the rim with power and touch. He put up another double-double with 11 points, 11 boards, two blocks, and two steals. I think he deserves an A.
  • Again…why isn’t Dre starting? “Andre Drummond came into the game with 3:22 left in the first quarter and the Pistons trailing 22-11. They immediately went on a 12-0 run and finished the quarter leading 26-25.” Via Pistons.com
  • Maxiell also put up an 11 point, 11 board double-double adding one assist and a block in 22 minutes.

  • Will Bynum is the best PG on this team plain and simple. He knows how to get the ball to his teammates and he knows where they want it. Will finished with 15 points, four boards and six assists with just one turnover in 25 minutes on the floor. The Will Bynum to Andre Drummond alley-oop combo is getting to be a staple. Throw it up and Andre will get it…he’s like the Calvin Johnson of the Pistons.
  • His first half wasn’t much to talk about, but Greg Monroe got the Pistons going by scoring 10 quick points in the third quarter on his way to 16 on the night. Monroe added six boards in 2 assists and looked determined after the half.

  • Old friend and the Magic’s leading scorer Aaron Afflalo was held scoreless.
  • The defense is stepping up. Detroit with eight steals, five blocks and winning the board was 41-54.
  • Kim English with 2 points in his 3:36 cleanup minutes.
  • Wednesday night on the road against a surging Bulls team will not be easy.

The 15-25 #Pistons are hosting the 14-26 Orlando Magic Tuesday Night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: The Pistons are winners of 10 of their last 12 games.
  • The bad: Regardless of how the Magic are playing, the Pistons always seem to find a way to lose.
  • The unknown: How much better will Andre Drummond get? He’s currently ranked 9th in the league in rebounding (per 48 min) according to hoopsstats.com. And look at what Greg and Andre have done per 48. Detroit is currently #3 in the league at efficiently at the Center position.

The #Pistons got off to a great start Sunday night against the Celtics, leading by as much as 18 points. The Celtics however came right back and were down just four at the half. The Pistons didn’t let this one go, by playing solid after the half and amassing a 16 point lead to beat Boston 88-103 to snap their two game losing streak.

Key Points:

  • The Twin Towers are really making this Pistons team fun to watch. Greg and Andre combined for 31 points.
  • Nice try Doc, fouling Drummond and sending him to the line didn’t work out for you. Drummond made six of his eight free throw attempts.
  • I know I keep looking at Brandon Knight with a fine tooth comb every day, but if you look at his stat line against Will Bynum’s for Sunday night they look pretty similar until you get to turnover and minutes. Brandon and Will each scored 15 points, each has a steal, and 5 assists. Knight grabbed more boards, but had seven turnovers to Will’s one. Is Knight regressing…or is it just me?

  • It was a nice win, and nice to see the Pistons bounce back after giving up most of their lead before the half. Also nice to see a big crowd at the Palace, but I can attest that to the many Celtics fans in the building Sunday night.
  • Lawrence Frank needs to fix the Pistons turnover problems. Thankfully the Celtics turned the ball over a lot themselves. The two teams combined for 39 givebacks in the game.
  • How great is a nice Drummond Dunk? Andre finished the game with 16 points, ten of them by way of slam, with seven boards, a steal and a blocked shot in 20:19 minutes. So, when are we going to see the big guy in the starting lineup?

  • Another double-double for Greg Monroe who scored 15 points and 11 boards, not to mention that his five assists matched that of the Pistons two point guards. He’s been so solid, while keeping himself almost under the radar.
  • Has Singler shaken he woes? He put up a solid game scoring 15 with eight boards, three steals a blocked shot and five assists. That’s got to be one of his best games since being inserted into the starting lineup.
  • Jason Maxiell with 4 ridiculous blocked shots.
  • Tayshuan added 14 points.
  • Who thought, “here we go again” when Boston fought back and got the game to 55-54?
  • Stuckey with just three points.
  • Nothing like beating the Celtics. Well unless it’s the Lakers.
  • Four straight over the Celtics.
  • You can say it if you’d like. The Pistons are getting closer and closer to that last playoff spot in the East.
  • Tuesday at home against Orlando should be a good one.

The 14-25 #Pistons are hosting the 20-19 Boston Celtics Sunday Night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: Detroit has won the last three against the Celtics at the Palace. The Celtics have been streaky all season long and are coming off back-to-back losses at home, none worse than the OT loss to Chicago on a Belinelli off-balance shot to win.
  • The bad: The Pistons, like the Celtics run hot and cold, hopefully the loss in London doesn’t start a trend.
  • The unknown: Will…”The Thrill” play more minutes than Brandon Knight, who’s been in a huge funk of late?

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

The #Pistons dug themselves a deep hole in London when they scored the games first two points and then let the Knicks score the next 16 points. Will Bynum and sparked a late third quarter run to get the Pistons within four points of the Knicks, but the Knicks came right back. Another Bynum rally got them close again in the fourth, but again the Knicks came right back to beat the Pistons 102-87.

Key Points:

  • Very cool to see the Pistons play on the big stage, too bad they didn’t look better doing it. I’m just happy that they didn’t get blown out because it looked awful when they were down 16-2.
  • Will Bynum led the Pistons with 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting with four assists and a steal in 29 minutes. You have to appreciate Bynum who sparked two runs for Detroit to get them back in the game and not embarrass themselves in London. He even went on a person 7-0 run in the fourth quarter.

  • You know I love me some Bynum, but when he’s the Pistons best player of the game it means people are not doing their jobs.
  • Speaking of people not doing their jobs…what’s up with Brandon Knight? He scored one point on 0-of-4 shooting in 18 minutes.
  • Andre Drummond helped Will get the Pistons back in the game. He posted another double-double with 11 points, 10 boards and two blocked shots. Per minute, he’s the Pistons best player of late.
  • Moose also with 11 and 10 boards.
  • Knicks are three-point shooting fools. They make them and they win, plain and simple.

  • Nice to see Bill Laimbeer in the house.
  • Great game by Singler, who was also responsible for helping the Pistons stay in the game. Kyle with one of the better games he played in the last couple of months. He finished with 15 points, 4 assists, 3 boards and a blocked shot.
  • A minute and twenty-five seconds for Kravtsov.
  • Prince with 12 on the night.
  • Not a great way to get overseas Pistons fans after that game, but I know quite a few Pistons fans in London got to finally see their team play in person, and that to me is pretty cool.
  • Sunday night against the Celtics at The Palace.

The Utah Jazz continue to have success against the Detroit #Pistons adding another victory in their match-up Saturday night. The Jazz rallied back from a 15 point deficit to beat the Pistons 90-87 at the Palace.

Key Points:

  • Detroit was executing and dominating the Jazz in the first half. The Jazz came out on a mission after the half and the Pistons seemed to start their London trip early, pretty much laying down and taking it. They did however fight back and have a chance to tie with a three pointer, but a non call on a Brandon Knight three sealed the victory for the Jazz.
  • You can be bitter about the non call on Knight, but the way the Jazz played in the second half they deserved this one.
  • Brandon Knight scored 16 on 7-of-16 shooting with just one assist on the night. The criticism will keep coming until Brandon plays his position better or he gets moved to playing the two. He’s hot and cold, but this season he seems more on the cold side.
  • Good turn out at the Palace, seems as though the Pistons recent winning ways are getting more fans in the building.
  • Al Jefferson is so underrated.
  • Greg Monroe was shut down in the second half. He still finished the night with his 14th double-double of the season scoring 12 with 11 boards, but his seven turnovers overshadowed just about anything he did.
  • Quiet couple of games for Tayshaun. He put up eight with three boards and three assists in 33 minutes on the floor.
  • It’s really starting to look like the Pistons need a true point guard on this team, something they haven’t had since Dumars traded Chauncey Billups. They do have Bynum, but I doubt he’ll ever get the starting job.
  • Speaking of Will, he played great scoring 13 on 6-of-6 shooting with 4 assist and three steals. It was a Bynumite steal by Will at the end of the game that gave the Pistons a chance as the clock wound down.
  • Highlights via NBA.com

  • Daye scored five on 1-of-3 shooting and Villanueva scored four on 1-of-5 shooting.
  • Stuckey with nine points on 2-of-6 shooting and two assists.
  • 17 turnover for Detroit.
  • Andre Drummond was solid again scoring nine on 4-of-5 shooing with five boards and a blocked shot. I knew he was going to be good, but honestly I didn’t know he’d be this good this quickly. We will soon be sending holiday cards to the eight teams that passed on him.

  • Gotta love the Bynum/Drummond chemistry lately.
  • Will Greg Monroe adjust defensively when Andre starts?
  • Singler didn’t stuff the stats putting up just two shots and making them both in his 19 minutes.
  • The Pistons biggest lead was 15, Utah’s 13.
  • Besides Singler’s +2, Jason Maxiell was the only Pistons with a + in the box (+10). Jason finished with seven points, three assists, six boards and three blocked shots.
  • Off to London for the Pistons, so we have to set our DVR’s for the 3pm start.

The 14-23 #Pistons are hosting the 19-19 Utah Jazz Saturday Night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: Drummond and Monroe are playing extremely well.
  • The bad: The Jazz have won 14 of 16 against the Pistons.
  • The unknown: Can Detroit break the Jazz jinx?
