No it’s not a typo, the #Pistons took down the Suns 117-77 Wednesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The unbelievably fun game to watch (for Pistons fans), was the first time Detroit won by 40 points since Dec. 31, 2007.

Key Points:

  • Anyone worried about the play of Brandon Knight, who got off to as slow start this season, should be relived. He seems to have his shooting stroke back. In his last four games he’s averaging 20.5 points. Brandon finished with 19 points, 6 assists and 2 steals in 24 minutes on the court. Let’s not forget he’s been great from long range, he went 3-for-3 from the long line on Wednesday.
  • It wasn’t just the starters, everyone did their part in this massacre.  Charlie Villanueva and Rodney Stuckey combined for 37 points.
  • Charlie V is making himself look extremely valuable to this team lately. He finished with 19 points, while going 3-of-4 from downtown, all while playing a little defense. What’s in the water over at the Palace?
  • The very sparse crowd at the Palace really loved this one.
  • This was a ball game to start. Tied after the first quarter and up by 11 at the half, the Pistons did a number on the Suns starting in the third quarter and didn’t let up until the buzzer sounded. It almost looked like the Suns gave up.
  • Andre Drummond continues to impress. I haven’t seen a player like this garner so much excitement from Pistons fans in a very long time. I can only compare it to the moment the Pistons got Rasheed Wallace for next to nothing and fans just knew he was going to put them over the top.

  • Dre with six points, nine boards, two blocked shots and a steal in 24:47. The ally-oop dunk looks like its going to be a staple at the Palace.

  • With Andre out on the floor it’s

    DETROIT BLOCK CITY

  • Every Pistons in the Plus column except Jonas, who played just 5 minutes. Kim English. who played 5 minutes. Jonas another DNP.
  • Don’t know if they showed it on the broadcast, but the Pistons huddled after the win in what looked like a pep talk led by Maggette and Prince.
  • A rare non double-double for Greg Monroe, who finally got to get a little rest. Moose with nine points and eight boards.
  • Do you think Lawrence Frank is finally listening to his critics about the rotation?
  • What was with all the technical fouls from the Suns? Did I miss something?
  • Are we going to start the Kyle Singler ROY watch? Singler impressed again putting up 12, with 2 steals, 4 boards and just working hard out there.
  • Stuckey played arguably his best game of the season. Rodney with 18 points, four assists, five boards, a steal and a blocked shot. I love him coming off the bench and anchoring the second squad.

Rodney Stuckey: “Any way I can help my team win, I just thought tonight I came in and was being aggressive, having the ball in my hand, creating for my teammates. In transition I was attacking. That’s what I envisioned.”

  • The most balance game the Pistons have played in years.
  • Gotta love a 36 point fourth quarter.

Brandon Knight: “We got a great win at home – let’s keep going. Let’s try to get the third one in a row and keep building – every day, keep building.”

  • Next up the Grizzles (who are no joke) Friday night in Memphis.

The #Pistons got their first home win of the season courtesy of the Boston Celtics. This time around the Pistons didn’t blow their lead in the 103-83 win. In their other three home games, the Pistons held double-digit leads in the second half, but defensive collapses turned into losses.

Key Points:

  • The Pistons were led by Greg Monroe, who put up his 6th double-double of the season with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, with 13 boards, while adding 2 assists and a steal in 31 minutes. Does anyone think he’s not a better player than he was last season?
  • I don’t care who’s leading the team in ppg, Jason Maxiell needs a medal of honor for his performances this season. He was unbelievable again against the Celtics, finishing with 15 points,  six boards, with a steal and a blocked shot in 30 minutes on the floor. It might sound cliche, but he really was everywhere all the time.
  • Congrats to Rondo who needed all 47 minutes to get his 10th assist of the game, extending his double-digit streak to 34 games, the third longest in league history.
  • Andre running the floor again. This almost looks like a replay  from the other night.

  • Drummond played 18 minutes grabbing six boards and scoring four points. I do this thing when he’s on the floor, I stop watching everything else and just watch him.  Let me tell you with every game he’s learning the system better and he’s making an impact.
  • Singler with 14 on the night in his third night starting for Detroit. I’m very happy with Kyle in the starting lineup, are you?
  • Six Pistons in double figures.
  • They went from an abysmal defensive game against Orlando to playing the best defense of the season against the Celtics. Detroit outscored the Celtics 23-14 in third quarter, forcing Boston to shoot just 31.3 percent, while turning the ball over seven times.

  • I know many fans like a good offensive game, but I was raised on the Bad Boys and I love a good defensive shutdown.
  • Every Pistons was in the Plus column, even Daye who played a minute and thirty eight seconds.
  • I never thought I’d be think excited that the Pistons have Corey Maggette. He scored 11 points, with 2 assists and a rebound in 13:31 minutes. Shame on me for not tooning him yet.
  • Will Bynum added a much needed spark off the bench since Brandon Knight wasn’t doing much of anything other than turn the ball over. Will finished with 7 points, 5 assists and two steals in 21 minutes on the floor. And let’s not forget a breakaway dunk in the fourth quarter that made him look like he was going to hit his head on the rim.

Will Bynum - Pistons vs Celtics

  • Should we be worried about Brandon Knight?
  • This is the kind of game the Pistons need from Rodney Stuckey, who scored 14 points off the bench, with 5 assist and 5 boards. He still think there is something off with him though.
  • Detroit’s biggest lead was 22.
  • Surprised at the limited turnout at the Palace.  I know the Pistons aren’t doing well, and it was a night game on Sunday but the Celtics usually draw a crowd.
  • BTW did you know Darko was on the Celtics now?
  • Wednesday night in Orlando…revenge.

Happy?  Sad?  Depressed?  Anxious?  Melancholy?  Ecstatic?  Does the thought of having Charlie Villanueva to kick around for another potentially sluggish season give you hope for the 2012-2013 season?  What is it, you guys?

  • I’m excited about the opportunity to see guys like Brandon Knight improve and continue to gel with Greg Monroe and even Rodney Stuckey.
  • I’m excited about potentially seeing Ben Wallace back for his much deserved farewell tour.
  • I’m sad to see Austin Daye still in a Pistons uniform, after I had such high hopes for him.
  • As high as my hopes were for Daye, they couldn’t have been higher than when the Pistons signed Charlie Villanueva and now my feelings about that move couldn’t be any lower.  I can’t hate the guy, but I almost hate him for single handedly driving the team back to the Teal era on the court.
  • Although it cost the team a 1st round pick, I’m happy to see what an expiring contract like Corey Maggette brings the team in return.  So far, we’ve dumped Ben Gordon.  We won’t know who won the deal until we see who takes Maggette’s spot.
  • I’m excited that Joe Dumars was able to acquire Dwight Howard for a handful of 2nd round draft picks!
  • I’m happy to see what Lawrence Frank has in store for the team with a full offseason in place to work with them.
  • How can you not be excited about the potential that is there with Andre Drummond?
  • I’m happy that Kim English is talking about the Bad Boys as being the type of basketball he enjoys, he is now my favorite player aside from Greg Monroe.
  • I can never hate Tayshaun Prince (because of this - god, look how young he looks), but I’m tired of having him be the centerpiece of the offense.  Jerebko likely won’t ever be a starting SF in the NBA, but it’s time for Tay to sit for Coach Frank to fully realize what he has at SF.
  • I always love a good baby feast from Jason Maxiell, who is entering the final year of his contract with the Pistons.

It’s kind of been a down offseason so far for the Pistons.  There haven’t been any big splashy free agent signings or trades (largely due to the cap situation).  How do you feel about the team?  What are you excited about, if anything?  What moves do you think will take place between now and Game 1?

Quick Poll: Who liked the podcasts?  Is that a feature you’d like to see more of in the future?  It takes some time for Natalie and I to do them, because of our schedules, but we’re happy to continue doing them if they were a fan favorite.  (Except to that guy who said it sounded like I was chewing on my tongue, he knows where he can go and what he can do).
