The 25-53 #Pistons are in Cleveland to take on the 24-53 Cavaliers Wednesday night.

  • The good:The Pistons have won the last five against the Cavaliers.
  • The bad: Both the Pistons and the Cavaliers are sitting at the bottom of the conference just waiting for the lottery balls to be dolled out.
  • The unknown: Can Brandon Knight continue his great play of late?

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports. If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

If you’re thinking of going to one of the few remaining games at The Palace, you can get tickets directly from the Pistons with NO FEES.

TayrifficDespite the loss of Pistons MVP of late Rodney Stuckey  in the first quarter of the Cavs game, Detroit left Cleveland with a 87-75 victory thanks to the hot hand of Tayshaun Prince. Tayshaun matched his season high 29 points to give the Pistons their second consecutive road win.

Key Points

  • Prince scored 29, including 18 in the first half when he knocked down all three 3-point attempts. Prince made all four of his triples, shot 11-for-21 on the night and grabbed 8 rebounds. It’s nice to see him step up, especially in a game when Stuckey and Gordon were down with injury.
  • Jason Maxiell was all over the place. Jason played extended minutes after (surprise) Jerebko picked up three quick fouls. Maxiell scored 12 with 9 boards and three blocked shots on the night.
  • Three consecutive games where Austin Day saw time on the court. Daye scored 8 points on 3-for-7 shooting in a whopping 29 minutes on the floor. Looks like he may just be out of Frank’s doghouse.

Austin Daye: “When I can hear positive things from the bench, it really gives me a lot of confidence,” he said. “Being in the right spots defensively, it helps me out – just all of those things.”

  • A little extra time for “The Thrill,” who scored 8 on 3-for-9 shooting in 2o minutes on the floor.

  • Greg Monroe scored 8 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Those are solid numbers, but his scoring production has gone down significantly since All Star break. One thing however has changed and that’s his hard work and heart. Scoring or not the kid gives it his all no matter if this team is up 20 or down 20.
  • Brandon Knight scored 16 on 7-for-15 shooting with 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Knight lost the battle of the rookie guards with Kyrie Irving putting up 22 with 9 boards and six assists.
  • Wouldn’t we all like to have Charlie Villanueva’s job?
  • And speaking of jobs…Luke Walton still has one?

  • Ben Wallace is making the most of his last few games in the league. Big Ben had 4 blocked shots on the night and 6 boards.
  • Will Ben Gordon be back to play his former Bulls on Friday night? Doesn’t really matter, he’s yet to have on decent game against his former team. What this team needs to worry about is whether Stuckey can play.

The 11-22 #Pistons are in Cleveland to take on the 12-17 Cavaliers Tuesday night. The Pistons, who have won seven of their last nine game, are one on the hottest teams in basketball and would love to go into Cleveland and extend their winning streak.
Cleveland beat Detroit 105-89 on Dec. 28 at the Palace. The Cavaliers have won three straight and 10 of 12 between the two.

  • The good: Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Knight and the Pistons current winning streak.
  • The bad: Cleveland for one, and the simple fact that Detroit always has problems beating them.
  • Who to watch:The Kyrie Irving/Brandon Knight match-up.
  • The unknown: Can Rodney keep playing like he has been?

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Plus. If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 The Ticket.

Again

The Pistons will wrap up their preseason (all 2 games) against the Cavaliers tonight in Cleveland.

What can we expect?

Brandon Knight at Starting PG that’s what.

  • The good: Knight starting.
  • The bad: No Ben Gordon – Personal Reasons
  • The unknown: Charlie Villanueva missed practice for personal reason, no news on his status.

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit. If you can’t catch the game on TV, follow it live over at NBA.com or on the radio over at 97.1 The Ticket.

I’m sure Pistons fans are just as excited as Cavs fans that both of their preseason games are against each other.

The Pistons first game will be on December 16th at the Palace at 7:30 and the second on December 20th at Quicken Loans Arena at 7:00.Both games will be broadcast on FSD and locally on the radio on 97.1 The Ticket.

If you want to see some live basketball you can get into the door for about 10 dollars, but my guess is that tickets will be quite easy to come by all season long.

The official 66 game schedule will be announced on Tuesday December 6th.

It was quite a season for Pistons fans. With the uncertainty of all that is Detroit Basketball hanging in what may or may not happen this summer, it’s the little things that have a way of making us smile.

I can say with the utmost certainty that I am not, nor will I ever be a Boston Celtics fan, but I would like to thank them for the utter joy they have sent my way.

It’s also nice that we saw the “good Sheed” last night do his part against those awful bunch from Ohio. Sheed scored 13 with 3 boards, 2 steals and a blocked shot in 23 minutes off the bench for Boston.

I’m not a fan of a thing that is associated with the city of Cleveland. The Cavaliers and their fans just rub me the wrong way. Now I don’t like the Celtics or the Lakers or the Bulls for that matter, but there is just something about the attitudes given off from almost every Cavalier fan that I have ever come across that just makes me angry.

It could be the fact, in 2006 I traveled to CLE for the Pistons playoff series and I was spit on and a beer thrown on me for wearing a Pistons jersey. Or during that same game when I watched four, forty something men heckle and pick on a 70 year old Pistons fan while she was trying to watch the game with her 10 year old grandson.  And when “they” make the trip to the Palace every year to see the only thing they have had going for them, while wearing their #23 jerseys, only bad things come of it.

Anti LeBronLook, I dislike LeBron….a lot, though I can admit that he is one of best ballers I have ever seen play the game. I would love to punch Varejoke where it counts, I hate the fact that Gilbert and his crew tried to rip off anything they could from the Pistons just because he wanted to buy them but was shot down. There is just so much that makes me cringe when it comes to the Cavs, but today when I think of them it’s all smiles.

Is it wrong to be happy about other people’s misery?  Yes it is, but if we are talking Cavs fans…it’s fair game.  As Pistons fans we have seen our fair share of trolls here and now it’s time to say…..Suck it! We know we aren’t a good team, but good luck all summer sitting on your hands waiting for “The Chosen One” to decide your fate. Hey Cleveland…you deserve it!

The Pistons vs. The Cavaliers

The 21-40 Pistons are in Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers tonight. Good news for Pistons fans not in the local area…finally a nationally televised game for you. Bad news, it’s the Cavs.

This is what it has come to, this is an outtake for NBA.com’s preview of this game.

Another inferior opponent awaits the Eastern Conference’s top team, but this club won’t be in the bidding for the reigning league MVP.

Detroit used the money it freed up in last season’s franchise-altering, Chauncey Billups-Allen Iverson deal to sign Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva, who are now relegated to reserve roles. It could now take a couple of seasons for the Pistons to again be competitive.
Detroit allowed a season-high for points as its losing streak continued with a 128-104 loss to the Knicks on Wednesday.

Another defensive effort like that could spell trouble for Detroit as the Cavs are averaging 114.8 points on 52.3 percent shooting during their winning streak.
