The 22-37 #Pistons are in Washington to take on the 18-37 Wizards Wednesday night.

  • The good: The last time these two teams played Jose Caldoron put up a season high 24 points. Will Bynum will return from suspension.
  • The bad: The Wizards are on a three game winning streak, and winners of seven of their last nine games, while the Pistons are losers of their last three.
  • The unknown: Brandon Knight practiced with the team, but will be a game time decision.

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

The #Pistons lost their third game in a row to the Hawks 114-109. Detroit, who were without Brandon Knight and Will Bynum didn’t have enough to take down the Hawks who were light’s out from downtown outscoring the Pistons from three-point range 42-9 and getting a career night out of Al Horford who put up 23 points and 22 boards.

Key Points:

  • The Pistons are now six and a half games back of The Bucks for the final playoff spot in the East.
  • Being down three key players in this one, the rest of the Pistons squad didn’t do enough to keep themselves in this game.
  • Rodney Stuckey, who needed to step up did. He led the Pistons with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting with two assists, and five boards in 35 minutes on the floor.
  • I would love to have Al Horford in Detroit, he’s got to be one of the best kept secrets in the NBA. He quietly puts up numbers game in and game out. Horford became only the sixth player in the past decade to put up 20 points and 20 boards in a game.
  • Their fifth game in seven nights is no excuse, especially with the pathetic efforts against Indiana.
  • Jose with nine assists on the night for the Pistons, but just 3-of-11 from the floor with seven points and four turnovers.

  • The rookies Khris Middleton and Kim English have been getting meaningful minutes of late and taking advantage of them. They’re not setting things a blaze, but they look good in spurts. English finished with a career high 10 points, while Middleton scored four.
  • Jonas Jerebko wants his job back as do so many Pistons fans do. Best night of the season for the little used Jerebko, who scored 21 on 9-of-12 shooting with six boards, three assists and a steal. I doubt this will change Frank’s mind, but he’s been doing some serious rotation juggling to try to figure out what works so who knows.

  • Mr. Frank please teach this team how to guard the three-point line. Sincerely Pistons Fans
  • Monroe looked like he was going to have a huge night after finishing the first quarter with seven points, four boards a handful of assists and steals and a blocked shot. Greg didn’t have the game that Horford did, but no one can complain about 15 points, eight boards, five assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
  • A steal and finish with a dunk.

  • Lets hope they can take down the Wizards in Washington on Wednesday.

The 22-36 #Pistons will try to get back on track after two disappointing losses at the hands of the Pacers when they host the 31-23 Atlanta Hawks Monday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: The popcorn at the Palace, that’s about it.
  • The bad: The Pistons will be without Bynum who’s serving his one game suspension for the Tyler Hansbrough incident. The Hawks have won four of their last five games and are playing very well.
  • The unknown: Brandon Knight was in uniform Saturday night but did not play, no word yet on whether or not he’ll play.  If he doesn’t can Rodney Stuckey step up with both Will and Brandon out?

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

If you’re thinking of going to the game Monday night, you can get tickets directly from the Pistons with NO FEES.

The 22-34 Detroit #Pistons in Indiana to play the first game of a home-and-home against the 33-21 Pacers Friday night.

  • The good:  Jose seems to really be fitting in with his new team and Slava is playing well coming off the bench in Andre’s absence.
  • The bad: The Pacer are 12-3 in the past 15 match-ups with the Pistons and has won nine straight at home.  Charlie Villanueva has decided (and why wouldn’t he) to use his player option and return to Detroit next season for over 8 million dollars.
  • The unknown: Danny Granger, who has yet to play this season may return in one or both games against Detroit. Will Brandon Knight play after the knee injury in Wednesday night’s win?

Tip off is at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

Say what you will about the #Bobcats and their record because the #Pistons 105-99 victory didn’t come easy against the team with the worst record in the NBA. It took a combined 40 points from Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight and every one of the 48 minutes for Detroit to get their 22nd win of the season.
Key Points:

  • Rodney Stuckey had a solid night, but it was  his back to back three-pointer plays in the fourth helped the Pistons make a solid run in the fourth quarter and then take control. Stuckey finished with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting with seven boards and three assists in thirty minutes.
  • Stuckey and Bynum and possible Jonas are the players names that seem to be floating around at the trade deadline, but there is no solid rumor on any trades.
  • Bynum also helped out with eight points and seven assists on the night.
  • Jose put up 17 points for Detroit and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the three point line. Though he only had two assist he’s the kind of player that knows when he needs to score and when he needs to pass.  I’m sold.
  • Ben Gordon…still terrible. He played just ten minutes for the Bobcats. I’m sure they will still try to deal him by the Thursday 3pm deadline.
  • Brandon Knight led the Pistons with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting with five assist and a steal in 29 minutes. Bad news is Knight left the game and didn’t return after he had a collision with Kemba Walker and hyper-extended his knee. His status for the game against the Pacers is undetermined as of right now.

  • Greg Monroe scored 19 points with seven assists and seven boards in a very solid night. I wouldn’t doubt if one of these days he puts up a triple-double. Too bad this had to happen to him last night. See Below
  • How will Greg Monroe ever recover from this dunk by Michel Kidd-Gilchrist, it was beyond ridiculous.

  • Speaking of impressing, how about Slava? We may not know how to spell his name, but he’s sure making and impression while he’s out there. It seems like we get a nice dunk highlight every time he gets some minutes.  Slava scored six points in 13 minutes with four boards.
  • Is Maggette still a Piston?
  • Surprising stat of the night: Charlie Villanueva led the Pistons in rebounds with nine.
  • Charlie V added 12 points in his 26 minutes on the floor.
  • Is it just me or has Jason Maxiell been somewhat invisible of late?
  • Next up Indiana on Friday night.
  • Stay tuned for any trade deadline news.

The #Pistons are going in to the All Star break on a good note. After losing a miserable game on Monday night against the Hornets, Detroit took on a hot Wizards team and got the job done with a 96-85 win at the Palace.
Key Points:

  • Greg Monroe with his eight consecutive double-double for Detroit. The last Piston to do that was Grant Hill. Monroe who’s doing whatever he can to make up for the absence of Andre Drummond finished with 16 points and 18 boards!

Monroe-vs-wiz

  • Isn’t it nice to have a great PG? And isn’t it nice to have two PG’s playing well? Jose Calderon and Will Bynum combined for 44 points.

singlerKyle Singler “Jose is a solid player for us. He’s been a great addition. Just things outside the court; his enthusiasm is great for the team. But his ability to come in and make threes, spread the court, and give us another ball-handler on the court is very valuable to our team, and it’s nice to have him out there toward the end of the game.” Via Pistons.com

  • Jose in fact was hitting so many three’s (6-of-9) that almost everyone in the crowd at the Palace got a free t-shirt. He led the Pistons with 24 points, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Be thankful for Jose, who was the only one in the early going that could score for Detroit.

  • Bynumite!

  • Will finished the game with 20 points in just 21 minutes, 12 of which came in the critical fourth quarter when the Pistons were battling for the win. Bynum played a great game and led the Pistons in assists with eight on the night.
  • Rodney Stuckey once again took his All Star break early (check the stats). Rodney with 2 points on 0-for-7 shooting. I’m so over him like four seasons ago.
  • Give it up for Slava Kravtsov who was great help on the defensive end for Detroit, especially in the fourth when the Pistons went on a run and pulled away.
  • Nice Oop for Slava

  • By just looking at the score you’d never get the story of this game. Detroit took over the fourth quarter by dropping 31 on the Wizards and locking them down defensively.
  • Another very solid game for Kyle Singler who is doing a lot of the Pistons scrappy work.  Singler finished with 12 points, seven boards and a steal in 37 minutes.
  • I was hoping to see Brandon Knight turn the quarter with the acquisition of Jose, but I think we may have to wait a while for that. Brandon with six points on 3-of-8 shooting in 28 minutes.
  • Brandon Knight will be the only Piston represented in the All Star Game festivities.  You can catch Knight in the Skill Challenge.
  • On break until Tuesday when the Pistons welcome back Tayshaun Prince when they host the Memphis Grizzlies at The Palace.

The 20-32 Detroit #Pistons are back home to host the 17-34 New Orleans Hornets Monday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

  • The good: The Pistons have been playing lights out that last two game with new PF Jose Calderon and surprising production from Charlie Villanueva, Detroit should be able to take care of the Hornets.
  • The bad: I was personally hoping to head to the Palace and see a Anthony vs. Andre match-up to see just how the number one pick and the number nine stacked up against each other. I have a feeling Dre would have shown he shouldn’t have dropped to the nine spot, especially since Davis has hit somewhat of a wall. We’ll just have to wait for Andre to return from injury, but in Detroit we already know he was the steal of the draft.
  • The unknown: Can Detroit make it three in a row? Will Calderon keep getting better and better each game as he learns more about his teammates and L Frank’s system? Can Charlie V keep this going? He’s not only knocking down big shots, but he’s playing more defense in the last few game than he has combined since he got to Detroit.

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 the Ticket.

If you’re thinking of going to the game on Monday night, you can get tickets directly from the Pistons with NO FEES. This one should be fun!

The 19-32 Detroit #Pistons are in Milwaukee for the second game of a back-to-back against the 25-23 Bucks.

  • The good: The way the Pistons played against the Spurs you realize they can beat any team on a given night.
  • The bad: You’re well aware of the Pistons record on the road and a back-to-back doesn’t help the matter much.
  • The unknown: The Battle of the Brandon’s didn’t go too well for Knight last time around against the Bucks. Can Knight duplicate the kind of game he put up against the Spurs?

It was somewhat of a surreal night at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday. Just before tip off we learned that Andre Drummond would be out 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his back. Then #Pistons fans had to realize that their three game losing streak was going to be very difficult to overcome with the NBA leading Spurs in town. Well Detroit didn’t seem to care about any of those things when they took the floor, in fact it was somewhat of a Freaky Friday at the Palace a the Pistons dominated the Spurs pretty much from start to finish leading by as much as 21 points. The Spurs go back into the game late, but Detroit held them off and took down the Spurs 119-109.

Key Points:

  • Greg Monroe was fantastic, putting up 26 points and 16 boards for Detroit and making sure the void of not having Andre Drummond wasn’t noticed. Greg played a whopping 40 minutes and added five assist, two steals and a blocked shot. He’s still however turning the ball over way too much (5) for a big man, but maybe that’s because he tries to do it all.

monroeGreg Monroe: “Andre is out for a while now, so I expect I’ll play a lot more minutes, but tonight was a good team win. We had four or five guys in double-digits. We beat a very good team tonight and we need to keep it rolling.” Via Pistons.com

  • Surprisingly, we didn’t see a minute for Kravtsov, but honestly that didn’t surprise too much since all the players on the floor for Detroit were paying well. Why mess with that?
  • Say hello to Charlie Villanueva who seemed like he couldn’t miss a shot, helping the Pistons pull away from the Spurs on multiple occasions by knocking down some critical three-pointers. Charlie played on of the best games as a Piston finishing with 21 points, 5-of-9 from downtown, with 8 boards and two blocked shots. Well rounded for Charlie.
  • We have us a point guard!
  • Calderon a +13 on the night with eight assists, seven points, a steal and ZERO turnovers. ME LIKE!
  • Singler played with great hustle and determination. He finished with 14 points, two assists, seven boards in 35 minutes. Check out this bucket thanks to an awesome assist by Jose.

  • The Spurs were without Duncan and Ginobili. Tony Parker did his best to win the ball game for the Spurs putting up a game high 31 points.
  • Detroit put up a 21 points lead in the second quarter, but the Spurs cut it back to 13 by the half. The Spurs however got as close as seven in the fourth, but the Pistons did something that come difficult most nights and that was making shots.
  • If you’re like me you had a sinking feeling that Brandon Knight would thrive once he was moved to the two spot. Knight put up 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting with five boards, two assists and one turnover in 36 minutes.  Add his clutch three-pointers in the final minutes of the game and the move to the two looks better and better every game.

  • Stuckey 4-of-7 shooting for 11 points, six boards adding 4 turnovers in 24 minutes.
  • Detroit with another Saturday night in Milwaukee against the Bucks.

The #Pistons finally had their new point guard in uniform Monday night in New York, but the Knicks spoiled his first game as a Pistons dominating them for another time this season with a 99-85 win.

Key Points:

  • The Knicks torched the Pistons with the three ball making 10 of their first 18 triples before halftime and finishing the game 14-of-34.
  • This game seemed over before it even started and when Detroit was down 26 in the second quarter the only real thing to do was watch and see how Calderon was doing with his new team.
  • Jose started the game at the point and led the Pistons with 15 points and zero turnovers in his 26 minutes on the floor. Though he didn’t rack up the assists, dishing just three, that part of his game will come as soon as it take him to get comfortable with his teammates.
  • Andre played just eight minutes before leaving the game with a back injury. No word on the seriousness of the injury or his status for the game against the Nets on Wednesday night. Too bad he didn’t play more, his lone two points came on this dunk from a Monroe feed in the face of Tyson Chandler who stepped aside for the young fella.

  • Carmelo Anthony continues to play well and destroy the Pistons at the same time, he led all scorers with 27 points.

  • Singler, who did his best to slow down Anthony, finished with five points.
  • Brandon Knight started at the two guard alongside Jose. Brandon shot 2-of-10 for five points in 28 minutes on the floor.
  • It was Rodney Stuckey who had a better night with 14 points, four assists and seven boards and three steals in 30 minutes.
  • What’s the deal with Greg Monroe and his turnovers this season?
  • Greg put up another double-double scoring 14 with 10 boards, two assists, a steal and two blocks shots. He had five of the Pistons 12 turnovers on the night.
  • Jerebko has cracked the rotation and was in early for Detroit. He finished with eight points in 16 minutes on the floor.
  • Highlights via NBA.com

  • Bynum with 13 points and 3 turnover in 21 minutes.
  • The Pistons just don’t know what to do with the Knicks who have beaten them handily in every game this season.
  • Sheed may be back by after the All Star break for the Knicks.
  • Detroit, who has lost six of their last eight games are now seven games back of the last playoff spot in the East.
  • To Brooklyn on Wednesday.
