The Pistons snapped a two game losing streak beating the Celtics on the road 98-88.  This is only the second time the Pistons beat the Celtics in their last eight meetings. Detroit competed with the Celtics the entire game, but it wasn’t until the Pistons started to come back late in the third quarter that by outscoring the Celtics 8 to 2 in the final minutes of the third and finally taking a one point lead headed into the fourth quarter.

Key Points:

  • No Garnett for the Celtics.
  • The Celtics have won 11 of their last 14 against the Pistons
  • The Pistons have now won 5 of their last 7 games.
  • The Chicago Bulls Ben Gordon showed up at the Garden. Ben terrorized the Celtics all night hitting big shot after big shot.  None bigger than the 3 he hit to put the Pistons up 10 with a minutes left in the game.  Ben finished with 22 off the bench for the Pistons, going  4 -for-6 from downtown.   Congrats Ben….does this mean you’re back?

Ben Gordon: “We just played with some heart tonight,”

  • This was a one point with eleven minutesPistons go on a 12 to 2 run in the fourth quarter to put this one away. Three Ben Gordon triples in that run, that really tells the story.
  • 13 turnovers for Detroit.
  • The Pistons trailed by just 2 at the half.
  • Rajon Rondo with a season high 35 points.

Lawrence Frank: “We’re looking for little steps. We’re showing fight.”

  • Ben Wallace a season high 11 boards.  After the Spurs game and the Celtics outing it looks like Ben is drinking that fountain of youth juice again.  Good to see both Bens making it happen.
  • Jonas Jerebko sat out the second half and had ice on his leg.  No official word, it just looks like he’s a little beat up. Jonas played 8 minutes and had just one board.
  • Austin Daye did not play.
  • Greg Monroe with 22 points and 9 boards.  Monroe started slow, but became aggressive in the second half.   Monroe gave Detroit its first lead of the second half on a tip-in with 23  seconds left in the third quarter that made it 73-72 heading to the fourth.

  • Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 25 points with 4 assists, and 3 boards in 36 minutes on the floor.  Rodney really kept the Pistons in the game, especially in the first half.  Nice to see him with a handful of solid performances.
  • Chris Wilcox former Pistons had a heck of a game for the Celtics with 17 points.
  • Will Bynum appearance.
  • Brandon Knight got into foul trouble early and really didn’t get into the flow of the game with Ben and Stuckey doing well.  Knight seems to be having issues with his mask.  He starts the game with it, but it’s usually off by half.
  • Damion Wilkins had a couple of great defensive plays helping the Pistons down the stretch.
  • Tayshaun 3-for-12 from the floor with 10 points.
  • Detroit out rebounded the Celtics 44-33.
  • The Celtics biggest lead with 7, the Pistons 13.
  • Fun game to watch, and nice to see this team get a road win, especially when it comes against the Celtics.

  • It’s very noticeable that this team is getting better and better on the defensive end.
  • Keep in mind that these two teams play again Sunday at the Palace.

The 8-22 Pistons are in Boston for the second game of a back to back to take on the 15-12 Celtics. The Celtics could be without Kevin Garnett, who’s suffering from pain from an injured hip flexor.

  • The good: It may help the Pistons if Garnett doesn’t play for the Celtics, who are already short handing with Brandon Bass out and Jermaine O’Neal and Mickael Pietrus both doubtful.
  • The bad: The way the Pistons are starting games.  Sure they bounced back against the Spurs, but they don’t have the kind of team that can do that day in and day out.
  • Who to watch: Rajon Rondo, who put up his night career triple-double on Sunday against Chicago.
  • The unknown: Will Greg Monroe offensive game bounce back  from his game against the Spurs and play like he has been all season.

The 26-49 (eliminated from the playoffs) Detroit Pistons are Boston to take on the 52-23 Celtics Sunday evening.

  • The good: The Pistons have nothing to lose and they did beat the Celtics once this season.
  • The bad: The Pistons are one defeat away from their first consecutive 50-loss campaigns since 1993-94 and ’94-95. Detroit has dropped five of six overall after Friday’s 101-96 home loss to the Bulls.
  • The unknown: Is the deal going down or not?

The 10-21 Pistons will host the 24-5 Celtics Wednesday night at the Palace. The first thing people are going to take notice of is any bad blood between Kevin Garnett and Charlie Villanueva. Villanueva called attention to Garnett’s trash talk calling him a “cancer patient” the last time the two teams took the court.   It’s drama in the making.

Will this be another dud for Detroit?  Or will they come out strong with the absence of Rajon Rondo, who’s missed the last five games with a sprained ankle.

Leave your thoughts in the comments or Chat Live with your fellow Pistons fans during the game.

It was quite a season for Pistons fans. With the uncertainty of all that is Detroit Basketball hanging in what may or may not happen this summer, it’s the little things that have a way of making us smile.

I can say with the utmost certainty that I am not, nor will I ever be a Boston Celtics fan, but I would like to thank them for the utter joy they have sent my way.

It’s also nice that we saw the “good Sheed” last night do his part against those awful bunch from Ohio. Sheed scored 13 with 3 boards, 2 steals and a blocked shot in 23 minutes off the bench for Boston.

I’m not a fan of a thing that is associated with the city of Cleveland. The Cavaliers and their fans just rub me the wrong way. Now I don’t like the Celtics or the Lakers or the Bulls for that matter, but there is just something about the attitudes given off from almost every Cavalier fan that I have ever come across that just makes me angry.

It could be the fact, in 2006 I traveled to CLE for the Pistons playoff series and I was spit on and a beer thrown on me for wearing a Pistons jersey. Or during that same game when I watched four, forty something men heckle and pick on a 70 year old Pistons fan while she was trying to watch the game with her 10 year old grandson.  And when “they” make the trip to the Palace every year to see the only thing they have had going for them, while wearing their #23 jerseys, only bad things come of it.

Anti LeBronLook, I dislike LeBron….a lot, though I can admit that he is one of best ballers I have ever seen play the game. I would love to punch Varejoke where it counts, I hate the fact that Gilbert and his crew tried to rip off anything they could from the Pistons just because he wanted to buy them but was shot down. There is just so much that makes me cringe when it comes to the Cavs, but today when I think of them it’s all smiles.

Is it wrong to be happy about other people’s misery?  Yes it is, but if we are talking Cavs fans…it’s fair game.  As Pistons fans we have seen our fair share of trolls here and now it’s time to say…..Suck it! We know we aren’t a good team, but good luck all summer sitting on your hands waiting for “The Chosen One” to decide your fate. Hey Cleveland…you deserve it!

Need4Sheed InterviewThe Pistons will be in Boston for the first time this season to play the Celtics and observe Rasheed in his natural habitat. What does that mean for Pistons fans? A lot of green, a lot of red, blue and white, the possibility of seeing Brian Scalabrine’s transparent mug pretending like he can play basketball, the possibility of Big Baby being a big baby and me co-hosting Celtics Late Night Show post game.

I don’t know why they keep subjecting themselves to my Pistons nonsense, but this is your chance to talk live with Nick and I about the game, the rivalry, the green hate, Larry Bird’s mustache, Rasheed’s allergies to the paint or whatever your heart desires.

I will co-hosting this one  live with Nick from North Station Sports immediately following the game.  So head on over and pick up the phone and call in.  I want to hear from my fellow Pistons fans.

That means you need to give us a Call.  Let’s take this show over, if you don’t call I may to get Will Bynum to dunk on you.

The 21-38 Detroit Pistons will be hosting The 36-21 Boston Celtics tonight at the Palace.  Set another Sheed return aside, the Pistons are hosting something bigger than a ball game tonight. The Pistons Care Telethon is in progress and set to feed a lot of hungry people in Michigan. If you can help, even if it’s only a dollar, please do.

On a personal note, I’ll will be a guest of Celtics Late Night, after the game to give them my take on the Detroit side of things, as well as a lot of good natured (not really) ribbing about all things I hate that are green.

The Show starts at 11:00, and as soon as I get back from the game I will be joining the show Live.  If you are so inclined, please call in so I can chat with my fellow Pistons fans.  Let’s show the Celtics fans we mean business.

And to make things…better (or maybe worse) I spotted Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen last night when I was having dinner and  gave them both the evil Pistons StinkEYE. Does that GuaranSWEDE a Pistons win? Not sure it does, but it sure made me feel good.

The Return of SHEED!

The Pistons vs. The Celtics

The 14-26 Pistons are hosting Rasheed Wallace and the 27-12 Boston Celtics tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

For those of you who aren’t in the know about the Celtics, they will play a 10th straight game without Kevin Gartett when Wallace take court in Green for the first time at The Palace.

Ben Wallace on Sheed via The Detroit Free Press

“He’ll get some cheers, and he’ll get some boos. It’ll make for some exciting basketball, since he’s one of those guys who had never fouled anyone since he has been in the league.

“He leads by example. He’s always telling guys where they need to be, making sure everyone is on the right page and always talking; letting you know where the help is coming from and where to send your man so you can get help. I think Boston is a great fit for him.”

Injury Report:

No Will Bynum, but it’s possible we see Ben Gordon and Tayshaun Prince.

It’s going to be a pretty exciting night for me, I have Rasheed’s Return, a new Pistons themed Flip Video and I get to meet @grantiscool a Pistons fan who traveled all the way from Australia to finally take a game in at The Palace of Auburn Hills.  Not only will this be Grant’s first Pistons game, it will be the first time he’s been to an NBA game.  Just goes to show you that you don’t have to be form the D to truly be a Pistons fan.

I’m sure I’ll have a tweet or two in me, and you can bet Im going to do my best to get you some video.  And don’t even ask, there will be nothing but cheers from me when I see Sheed.

NEED4SHEED GAME CHAT

Need4Sheed InterviewWith Rasheed Wallace returning to Detroit in just a few days, Boston fans are a bit curious to see how this Pistons fan feels about Sheed and the current state of The Pistons.  So (unfortunately for them) Celtics Late Night Show was kind enough to ask me to be their guest tonight.

Now I don’t know why Celtics fans feel the need to take a few jabs from this extremely NON Celtics fan, but they do.

I will be on live with Nick from North Station Sports, along with Brandon and Travis, from Hardwood Houdini at 11:00 PM Sunday the 10th.

Cant we all just get along? Sometimes we can …. but most of the time I get in the way of that.Celtics Live Late Night

If you can’t listen live, no worries the show is available at North Station Sports or at Hardwood Houdini to listen to at your leisure.
