Posted on October 27th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

I have set up 4 Fantasy Basketball leagues for team Need4Sheed members (if you’re reading this that means you). I’m giving the information two more, one which will be Drafting Today at 7:15 EST. If you haven’t tried your hand at fantasy basketball here is your chance to go up against fellow Pistons fans. The winner of each league wins a Need4Sheed.com T-Shirt! There are a limited number of spaces so PLEASE join just one league to be fair to everyone.

Detroit Pistons Season Preview – 2009-2010

Posted on October 13th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

Team Name: The Detroit Pistons

Last Year’s Record: 39-43

Key Losses: Antonio McDyess, Rasheed Wallace, Amir Johnson, Arron Afflalo, Chauncey Billups (does that still count), head coach Michael Curry (a good loss) and possibly the best loss in Pistons history, the end of Allen Iverson in red, white and blue.

Key Additions: Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Chris Wilcox, Austin Daye, DaJuan Summers, Jonas Jerebko and Ben Wallace.

1. What Significant Moves were made during the off-season?

need4sheed_sm_dumarsThe Pistons haven’t had a significant change to a start of the season since Joe Dumars took over as GM. Dumars started cleaning house well before the season started by trading away the Pistons cherished point guard Chauncey Billups for the expiring contract of Allen Iverson. The Iverson experience was a train wreck and by the end of the season it was obvious that big changes were coming.

Dumars started in late June with the firing of head coach Michael Curry. He traded Amir Johnson to the Milwaukee Bucks for Fabricio Oberto who was later waived. With the 15th pick in the NBA Draft Detroit selected Austin Daye of Gonzaga University and later took DaJuan Summers and Jonas Jerebko in the second round.

need4sheed_sm_gordonDumars then shipped out Arron Afflao for more cap space to secure the free agents he was coveting. Dumars wasted no time in bringing Ben Gordan and Charlie Villanueva to Detroit. On July 1, 2009, the Pistons reached an agreement with the former Bulls guard on a 5 year/$55 million contract, as well as an agreement with Charlie Villanueva on a 5 year contract worth $35 million.

They picked up plenty, but they also lost two of their key players in Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess. On July 5, 2009 the Pistons Sheed to free agency. Wallace signed a two year, $5.58 million contract with the Boston Celtics. Following the departure of Wallace, former Antonio McDyess signed a one year contract with the San Antonio Spurs for the mid-level exception. Though Pistons fans were probably ready to see Rasheed say goodbye, McDess heart and desire will be missed at The Palace.

In dire need of big man, Dumars picked up Knicks power forward Chris Wilcox to do some damage down low. And a surprise that Pistons fans were hoping for, the return of Ben Wallace need4sheed_sm_wallaceto Detroit. Wallace, who was waived by the Phoenix Suns signed for the veterans minimum to play for the Pistons this season.

2. What are the team’s biggest strengths?

This current configuration of Pistons should have no problem putting the ball in the basket. With Ben Gordon coming off the bench and Charlie Villanueva added to the starting lineup Detroit will be able to put up points.

need4sheed_sm_dayeThey also got younger and faster this season with rookies Austin Daye and DaJuan Summers. Put them in the lineup with Stuckey or Will Bynum at the point and this team will get out and run, something we rarely saw from the Pistons half court style of play.

3. What are the team’s biggest weaknesses?

DEFENSE!

The most glaring and obvious weakness for Detroit is the “D”. Always known for defense first, the Pistons now have an offensive mined squad and a lack of established big men.need4sheed_sm_villanuevaneed4sheed_sm_wilcox
The Pistons new addition down low, Charlie Villanueva has a reputation to be allergic to rebounds and has been called “soft.” Look for Jason Maxiell, Chirs Wilcox and Kwame Brown to do most of the dirty work for the Pistons this season.

4.What are the goals for this team?

need4sheed_sm_kuesterBetter than 39 wins will be just fine for this Pistons team. If Detroit can pull off a winning season, than what happened last year can be somewhat forgiven.
If new coach John Kuester can get this team together they have the talent to do much better than expected.
Will they make the playoffs? Probably.
Will they go far? Unlikely.

5. Will the roster likely stay the way it is?
You can bet that Joe Dumars is working on trying to make a few more moves. The most valuable and likely to go is Rip Hamilton. He’s got value on the market and with Ben Gordon onneed4sheed_sm_hamilton the team, his offense wouldn’t be missed that much putting Ben in the starting lineup to replace him. If there is a move to make Dumars will do it, we saw it last year with Billups, don’t count anything out at this point.

One thing is sure, they may not be slotted to make the ECF like they used to, but this Pistons team is going to be fun to watch.

Projected Finish: 46-36

Live On Air – Need4Sheed and The Enemy

Posted on July 8th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

Calling all Pistons fans, (and Need4Sheed fans for that matter) I will be Live on air from 9 P.M EST to about 10 with Celtics Blog RedsArmy on their BlogTalkRadio Call in Show The Two Man Game.

Don’t think I’m switching sides, I will be there to talk Sheed and REP the D!

Tune in and call in, I may need you to get my back.

When they asked me to be on the show I told them I am who I am and that I would bitch slap Robert Parish to get my point across if I had to.  And if they even mention Scalabrine I’m hanging up without notice.

It should be SHEEDtastic!

No Need4Sheed in Green – Rasheed is Boston Bound

Posted on July 5th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

I’ll start off this post by telling you that Rasheed Wallace has agreed to play for the Boston Celtics.  According the Boston Herald the contract is for 2 years at the midlevel exemption of $5.8 million.

Photo/Getty Images

Nothing shocking, it was only a matter of time before one of the teams that were wooing him got what they wanted, but to most of us here in Detroit, having Sheed in a Celtics uniform is not easy.

“The Enemy” to some.

“Traitor” to others.

Some will even give you the obligatory “You can launch your three’s and not play in the paint for another team, thanks for mailing in the last season Sheed.”

But to most Pistons fans we are thankful to him for putting our team over the top in 2004, allowing us a Championship we wont’ soon forget.

Rasheed Wallace is not a Detroit Piston anymore, and to be honest…..I’m surprised he made it this far.

After each season when the dominant Pistons got ousted from the Playoffs everyone called for his head. But how do you give up on a player that can dominate a game the way he can?

The man can be SHEEDtastic at the drop of a hat.

He can make the impossible seem possible.

He’s a Joker!

He’s very tricky..

But he also comes with hair pulling frustration.

I cant count the number of times I sat in my seat at the Palace hoping no one was paying attention to me as I was talking to Sheed from my seat while he was busy arguing on the floor. “Don’t do it Sheed, your going to get another Tech and get tossed, that will be 16 and I don’t think Joe D will be able to get that rescinded. We need you, you’ll be suspended. STOP!!!!”

I may not have lost sleep, but it eats at you when you have so much invested in a team.

That I won’t miss.

I will miss his Sheedisms, his dominance and the fact he made the team fun to watch in more ways than one.

The dancing was a sight in itself too.

He may work well with Boston playing a smaller roll since he NEVER wanted to be “the guy” when he clearly had the talent to be put into the category of one of the best Power Forwards in the game. He’s even got a special relationship with Kevin Garnett going in.

One thing that’s funny to me is all the Boston love for a guy that was the enemy of all enemy’s to Celtic fans.

As for Celtics and their fans…. I come in peace here, but I have been pushed over the edge way too many times by Celtics fans, I do however respect and enjoy some of the many Celtics blogs out there, so when Loy’s Place shot me an email asking me to answer a few questions for them I was just fine…until they ended the email with this…

Thanks!  And welcome to the Celtics family!!!

On to the next part of this post.

I will never ever, ever never be a Celtics fan and I take offense to the mere thought of being a part of that family, because I am not.

I will (until I stop breathing) bleed the red, white and Piston blue, that is one thing you can put your money on.

I will NOT change this website nor my allegiance to the Detroit Pistons.

As you can see from the new addendum to the banner on the site, I rep the “D” regardless of Sheed.

If you followed this site from it’s inception I have stated that fact on more than one occasion. I have be asked the question hundreds of times….”What will you do when Sheed is gone?”

I will do this, nothing changes.

“Will you change the name?”….as of right now, no.

You see, this site was never supposed to be.  I started it as a lazy way to share my cartoon screensaver to my friends across the country. You see even when you leave the “D” you still represent it.  So as a way share my wallpapers, screensavers and videos (pre YouTube days) this website became more than I ever envisioned it to be.

Now….I’m Need4Sheed.

Funny, but I can’t change it. It may be a name to all of you, but it’s almost part of my identity at this point. When you get introduced as Natalie of Need4Sheed instead of your last name things change.

You see, it never really was about Rasheed. Sure there is plenty of Sheed here, he brings a lot to any team, but it is and always will be about the love of the Detroit Pistons.

So Sheed is gone, we all knew it was going to happen at some point. I wish him luck, but I can’t say I will be rooting Boston, but I will be rooting for him.

This is Need4Sheed where we represent the Detroit Pistons..thank you for your time Mr. Wallace and thank you for allowing me to hold this in my hands.

Onwards and upwards….DEEETROIT BASKETBALL.

Joe Dumars Video – Pistons 2009 Draft Party

Posted on June 26th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

Joe Dumars speaks to Pistons fans and media immediately after Dumars selected Austin Daye as the Pistons #15 pick in the draft.  He talks about Austin, and the state of the team.

Best line….

“Yes, he’s skinnier than Tayshaun, so we definitely have to put some weight on him.”

Please note….the “no more drama” quote.  Sounds liked Dumars had enough of the current and not so current Pistons players and their “issues.”  Take it however you like but Joe sounds like he’s cleaning house.

Think Iverson sent him over the edge?

Sorry for the quality of the video, it’s hard to take a 9 minute video with a small camera. I can’t hold steady that long people.

Thanks go out to the entire Pistons Organization (DW) who let me Live Blog the Event.

I’m on the Disabled List, but Need4Sheed is not.

Posted on March 18th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

I just wanted to let you know that things may be a bit different around Need4Sheed for a little while.  I’m going to be on the disabled list, so I have enlisted some help to keep Need4Sheed up and running while I’m gone.

Can’t say when I will be back, I’m going to take it as easy as I can to get ready for the playoffs.   But if the Pistons want to lend me Arnie Kander for some rehab, I’m sure he would have me up and running the floor in a matter of days. I’ve heard his cucumber, carrot, pumpkin seed, celery, almond milk, voodoo herb concoction is a lifesaver.

So when I get back, I’m expecting the Pistons to solidly be locked in as the 4th 5th 6th 7th seed for their playoff run.

You’re in good hands.

Do you know where Kwame Brown has Been?

Posted on March 17th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

Kwame Brown is going to have some extra work (at least) the next two days. Rasheed Wallace will still be unavailable for The Pistons Texas swing and with the big bodies in Dallas and Houston, we are going to see more of Kwame.

That prompted me to show you the video I took of Kwame working. Well, I guess you can call it working.
Before the season began the Pistons pumped gas for their fans and Kwame had a one of a kind job that involved a gas cap. I must tell you that Kwame was quite the character and was hamming it up for me the entire time we were out there on that very cold October day.  It was so cold, warm beverages had to be consumed, and that’s when I truly appreciated Kwame.

Win An Arron Afflalo Autographed Pistons Shirt

Posted on March 6th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

As you may or may not know by now, I’m giving away some Arron Afflalo autographed goodies from my trip to see him at his appearance at ABC Warehouse.  As I mentioned yesterday, if you follow me on Twitter winning may be a lot easier than it has to be.

What do you win…..

First Prize – his sweet Autographed Arron Afflalo Pistons thermal shirt.

Arron Afflalo Autographed Pistons Shirt

Second Prize – an Autographed Arron Afflalo picture.

Arron Afflalo Autographed Picture

You can see him sign both things for me in the this video I took. Funny thing about me and my videos, I have been know to cause a bit of trouble wherever I go, just ask the good folks at the Palace.  So when I headed over to ABC Warehouse I decided to be on my best behavior.

Arron seems to be a quite guy so I figured I would tell him what I was doing and wish him well.  So I walk up and ask him if he knows me.  Who does that? Why would he know me? I meant to say do you know the site, but it came out me first….what an idiot.  I didn’t even realize how stupid I sounded until I watched the tape.  Maybe I was thrown off because of this.

More playing time would be nice Arron!  And by the way Thanks!

Arron was great, and now I’m handing the stuff over to you.

I will be randomly picking a winner from the CORRECT entries.  Just answer two questions correctly and you could be a winner.

What was Arron Afflalo’s high school teams nickname?

What is the name of the outstanding defensive player award Arron won while at UCLA?

Send the answers to me at
need4sheedcontest@gmail.com

  • Subject Line:  Showtime at the AFFLALO
  • Your Name
  • Correct Shipping Address
  • And your Email Address

If you follow me on twitter this should be easy!

I will annonce the Winners on Tuesday March 10th!
