Do you know where Kwame Brown has Been?

Posted on March 17th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

Kwame Brown is going to have some extra work (at least) the next two days. Rasheed Wallace will still be unavailable for The Pistons Texas swing and with the big bodies in Dallas and Houston, we are going to see more of Kwame.

That prompted me to show you the video I took of Kwame working. Well, I guess you can call it working.
Before the season began the Pistons pumped gas for their fans and Kwame had a one of a kind job that involved a gas cap. I must tell you that Kwame was quite the character and was hamming it up for me the entire time we were out there on that very cold October day.  It was so cold, warm beverages had to be consumed, and that’s when I truly appreciated Kwame.

Kwame Brown is Entertaining and Walter Herrmann has a new Nickname

Posted on October 27th, 2008 by Natalie Sitto

So, I attended The Pistons free gas giveaway at Meijers and not only do I have tons of great footage from the experience, I learned two very very important things.

Kwame Brown is quite a character and Walter Herrmann has a new Nickname.

There is quite a great deal of back and forth between Kwame and myself that I caught on tape, but I had to get this clip out as quick as I could because of how much I loved the new nickname. Let me tell you it really did fit. It was 40 degrees outside with freezing rain and Mr. Herrmann was decked out from head to toe in a black suede Pistons warm up suit with matching sneakers, no gloves or coat and some killer sunglasses

What an experience, classics to come Pistons fans.

Around The Way

  • Chauncey speaks Part 1 and 2. The man wants to retire a Piston and thinks the current core should have another go at it. Billups thinks Curry is the key, “We of course changed one big thing and that was the coach and that makes a big difference.”
  • Artest to Houston for next to nothing.
  • Pistonscast.com interviews Piston rookie Walter Sharpe.
  • Keith Langlois piece on Walter Sharpe and what his showing in Vegas does for his situation.
  • “He’s made a concerted effort to get better defensively,”Curry said. “He’s playing the best defense I’ve ever seen him play. Sometimes he’s a little too aggressive, but we can bring that back. It’s harder to try to make a guy aggressive than calm him down.” Via Keith Langlois on new Piston Will Bynum.
  • Team Need4Sheed member has something interesting to say about new Piston Kwame Brown that I thought was interesting. “I live in LA and so I see plenty of Laker games. When healthy, Kwame was one of their most consistent rebounders, beneath Odom and ahead of Bynum. Problem was, he didn’t stay healthy but I expect Kandor to fix that. I’ve also seen him guard the post and again he was their best post defender, again better than Bynum was. Thus I’m not assuming anything, I’m going by what I’ve seen. Yes, Kwame has small hands but so did Big Ben. It’s more of a shortcoming on offense than defense. Finally anyone with an expiring contract is tradeable because teams are often looking to dump salary in order to get below the luxury tax. I don’t foresee Kwame being a superstar. Heck, I think Amir has a brighter future than Kwame does and he was a second rounder, but that doesn’t mean Kwame can’t contribute to our team By the way, it is also Elden Campbell. “
  • Michael Rosenberg of the Free Press thinks the Brown signing is a smart move. “This is a smart, low-risk move for the Pistons. It might not work out, but it can’t possibly be a disaster. The Pistons didn’t use the No. 1 overall pick on Brown, like the Wizards did. They did not trade All-Star Caron Butler for him, like the Lakers did. They just offered him $4 million a year, for one or two years. That’s a lot of money to you and me, but NBA owners find that kind of cash in the seat cushions of their corporate jets. Kwame Brown is a young, strong, athletic, 6-foot-11 player with limited ball skills. He never should have been the No. 1 overall pick, but he has a place in the NBA. Brown gives the Pistons another usable piece. He has the size and defensive ability to fill in when Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess get in foul trouble.”
  • Rip Hamilton was on a game show called Wanna Bet on Monday. I set the DVR to check it out but my hard drive decided to erase itself, thanks Comcast! Thankfully there is a quick write up on it in the Freep. You can also see him in this YouTube teaser for the show.

Kwame Brown the newest Piston?

Posted on July 28th, 2008 by Natalie Sitto

As reported on ESPN.com:

“Kwame Brown’s agent, Mark Bartlestein, told ESPN.com on Monday night that the former No. 1 pick in the 2001 draft has reached a verbal agreement on a new contract with the Detroit Pistons.

The contract is believed to be a two-year deal worth $8 million, with Brown — who spent his first four seasons as a pro in Washington after being drafted by then-Wizards president Michael Jordan holding a player option to return to free agency after this season.”

So Kwame is The Answer? Really?

Thanks to WDFN, Pistons4Life and the rest of Team Need4Sheed for making sure we didn’t miss a beat.

UPDATE: After having this one sink in a bit I think we could be happy with the signing. We picked up a legitimate center for a good (not great) price. Yes, he’s a bust as a #1 pick, but that’s on Jordan not Joe. For the role we need him in he should do well (we hope).

Maybe we should give this one a chance Pistons fans, like most of you I was a bit stunned when I first heard the news, but we might be in for a surprise. I just hope this doesn’t hinder the development of Amir, Samb or even Maxiell.

I’m not devastated, I’m not optimistic, I’m just not sold.

What’s next, the return of Fennis Dembo? Funny, had you asked me this morning which was more likely Kwame or Dembo I would have picked the latter.

I can’t believe I’ll be making a Kwame Brown Cartoon.
