Guard Jodie Meeks and the Pistons reach a deal worth almost 20 million dollars

Jodie Meeks is a Pistons

According to Yahoo Sports the Pistons and free agent guard Jodie Meeks from the Los Angeles Laker shave agreed on  deal.

“Free-agent guard Jodie Meeks has reached agreement on a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Free-agent forward Cartier Martin has agreed to a one-year deal with the Pistons, too, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Meeks is the first free-agent signing for new Pistons president Stan Van Gundy and general manager Jeff Bower. Detroit has been desperate to add shooting to its roster.

Meeks is coming off his best pro season for the Los Angeles Lakers in which he averaged 15.7 points and shooting 40.1 percent on 3-pointers.” Via Yahoo Sports

Looks like Stan is taking the opening of free agency lightly with the signing of two former Lakers.

Some folks are grumbling like we overpaid, but Nat’s right Detroit is desperate for dependable shooters so they really couldn’t afford not to lock one in early. Meeks had a solid season and he’s got the potential to get even better. It’s looks like they still might be trying to land Anthony Morrow as well as apparently making an offer to Isaiah Thomas. It seems like too many guards, the pistons need a starting small forward, so I was hoping we’d make an offer to someone like a Gordan Hayward. It’s still early though, so I’d wager on about 3 more deals before it’s all said and done. The Monroe resigning, another free agent (Ariza?), and Sactown seems serious and the trade rumor for Smith still has life with the possible addition of McLemore in the pot. Real or not I think a trade for Jsmoove will happen if Monroe gets resigned.

    • I just think SVG is going to stock up on solid players. As we all know it’s difficult to get a free agent to Detroit. It will most likley be players that are solid but not big names.

We are used to that, Joe tried to bring in “names” (Gordon, J Smith and B Jennings) looks like none of them will pan out here.

Did you just say Ariza is on the Piston’s radar? Bring it on!
