Warriors Win in Detroit

Greg Monroe Pistons vs Warriors

A hard-fought battle with a the Warriors at the Palace ended in another loss for the Pistons on Monday night. Despite playing Golden State well the entire game, the Pistons let this game slip through their hands in the final minutes.

The Warriors were up by just one with four minutes to go, but finished the game on a 9-2 run while Detroit missed their last eight shots to lose 104-96 at The Palace.

Key Points:

  • The Warriors made it count when it mattered outscoring Detroit in the home stretch 15-6.
  • The scoring drought late in the fourth wasn’t necessary due to bad shots, it was more like poor decisions.

John Loyer: “I thought our effort from the very opening tip was tremendous. I thought we sustained it. They’re such a powerful team. I look up one second, we’re up three. Next minute maybe you’re down nine or down six. They can score so easily and so quickly, even when you play good defense. For our group to keep coming back, keep fighting, go back up one, to hang right there, it’s very encouraging to me. We just have to find a way to finish the game.” Via Pistons.com

  • Kyle Singler got Dunked On pretty hard by Klay Thompson, but besides that he’s been playing well since he was added to the starting five. Singler played a whopping 45 minutes and scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with three boards, two assists a steal and two blocked shots. Singler is also scoring 50% from the three-point line in the last nine games.
  • When Andre Drummond and Jermaine O’Neal went down in the crowd on the baseline, O’Neal pushed Dre’s head to the ground when on the floor. It resulted in a double technical, but it was Andre who looked like he wanted to go after Jermain. I heard multiple people in the crowd reference the Malace at the Palace. Remember O’Neal was a key play in the brawl.
  • Drummond with another game in foul trouble.  He managed 11 points and nine boards, with three blocks in 25 minutes on the floor.
  • Josh Smith 9-for-24 for 18 points while adding 11 boards and a blocked shot.
  • Just eight turnovers on the night for Detroit, but they all seemed to come at importuned times.
  • Why does Brian Scalabrie haunt me?

  • The Pistons bench weren’t much help scoring just 15 points.
  • John Loyer has confidence in Will Bynum, leaving him on the floor when it counts. Will scored eight on 4-of-11 shooting with four assists in 16 minutes.
  • Caldwell-Pope isn’t quite there. Another game with a couple of minutes and zero’s in the box.
  • When Rodney Stuckey has a bad game so does Detroit.

  • 15 lead changes in this one and it was tied nine times.
  • I’m pretty sure Jermaine O’Neal though it was 2003 again.
  • Greg Monroe 23 points and eight boards.  Moose has played with more fire in the last few games that I’ve seen from him all season.
  • They aren’t tanking right?
  • A though one in San Antonio on Wednesday night.
