The Pistons vs. The Bulls

The Pistons vs The Bulls

The 6-8 #Pistons host the 6-7 Chicago Bulls Wednesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The Pistons will try to make it three in a row, while the Bulls will try to avoid their fifth loss in a row. The Bulls will have to do it without former MVP Derrick Rose who tore the medial meniscus of his right knee after missing the entire 2012-2013 season with a left ACL injury.

  • The good: The Pistons looked they best they have all season long in their 113-94 win over the Bucks Monday night. With balance scoring and big runs the Pistons looked almost unstoppable. It was refreshing to see Detroit start off strong and keep their momentum all game long. /li>
  • The bad: The Pistons don’t have much luck of late when it comes to the Bulls, Detroit had lost 18 straight games to the Bulls before their last win on 4/7/13.
  • The unknown: Chauncey Billups is still listed as day-to-day.

Stat: Andre Drummond still leads the NBA in field goal percentage with 65.9%
Stat: Rodney Stuckey leads the Eastern Conference in bench scoring, averaging 15.9 off the bench.

Tip off is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports . If you can’t catch the game on TV, catch it on the radio over at 97.1 The Ticket.

Pistons should win the game at home.

  2. edt says:

that sucked. The bulls aren’t a bad team, they are pretty good on defense.

  3. edt says:

also luol deng going off, that’s on josh smith. I don’t think josh understands how to guard on the perimeter.

  4. RealGmTOni says:

FUCK YOU MO CHEEKS PLAY GIGI DAMM IT WHEN WE NEED POINTS ! FUCK JOSH SMITH ALSO IM SICK OF THIS FUCKING TEAM NOT HAVING HEART LOOKING LIKE CHICKEN WITH OUT A HEAD IF IT WASNT FOR STUCKY WE WOULD OF SUCKED DICK LIKE WE BEEN PASS 5 YEARS DAM ITTT SICK OF IT !

  5. rascal says:

Gotta love the clowns who think playing Gigi or “feeding” the Moose is the answer. This team is WAY beyond a tweak or two. The pieces are not there. Trade Stuckey before he cools off, trade Moose before we have to overpay his slow, overrated, no defense @$$. Get assets so we can actually build something here starting next season, and as a bonus maybe even keep our first rounder. “Win now” has been our misguided policy for the last five miserable years, and it’s especially dangerous now that we have expiring assets and look poised to hand Charlotte a very nice pick.

I would rather keep moose than smith. Smith is a decent player but can not be cured of taking too many jump shots. Smith has a WS of around 8 it is pretty steady and when Drummond comes into his prime Smith will be past his and on a bad contract. Greg Monroe has a WS of around 9, is a better player than Smith, yes he has slow footspeed, but he is very crafty around the rim, and has an under rated defense. Josh Smith by contrast has an over rated defense got torched by Luol Deng. Who gets beat by Deng? Moose & Drummond will have overlapping careers so their career fit is better. Stuckey is hot as hell, love to trade him. I don’t think Stuckey cools off so much as he gets injured and that’s it, his game is done for the season. Last year he started off injured and that was that.

Coach Mo has been outcoached every game except against Jason Kidd. Larry Frank was better.

Because the coaching has been so poor, and how poorly Josh Smith has been playing because he is at SF instead of PF, I am inclined to think we really are just one piece away. One decent small forward. Which ironically is just the piece Joe Dumars thought he had in Josh Smith.

Joe D will have to make moves, and I think I know what he will do. He can’t admit that signing Josh is a mistake, so he’ll trade Moose, keep stuckey (to prove that he was right about stuckey all the time) and sign up for the most overpaid contract he can get.

Still this team has so much more talent than last year, Josh Smith is good, if he can somehow get more minutes at PF, KCP is decent, Peyton Siva can play, Stuckey is having his best year ever, Drummond is improving by leaps and bounds, Greg Monroe is still a double double machine, under rated, not over rated. Jennings is a legit point guard, an incredible upgrade over Brandon Knight who is still awful.

Maybe once Billups gets healthy this will help, because with Billups on the floop, he tends to run the team instead of Mo Cheeks and that’s a good thing.

The game was close for about 3 quarters and then the Bulls shut us down. Double/double for Dre and Josh.
Leading scorer was Stuck again. Jorts and Gigi hit some shots off the bench in limited minutes.
Team 3 pt shooting was only 16%. Bynum 1-7 shooting. KCP had a goose egg.

I am not sure what the answer is to turn this team around. I do think Stuckey has earned the chance to start over KCP.
Give Bynum/KCP/Billups less than 10 minutes of PT each and ride Stuckey and BJ for most of the game.
Give Gigi/Jorts/CV/Singler some time off the bench to see who can hit some outside shots.
