Rodney Stuckey To Have Surgery

Rodney-Stuckey-Pistons-vs-NuggetsRodney Stuckey will be out for the foreseeable future as the Pistons announced yesterday that he would be having surgery to mend a broken thumb. No he didn’t break his digit fighting for a rebound of driving the lane. He slammed his thumb in his car door.

“Stuckey broke a bone in his right thumb and the Pistons said Thursday that Stuckey, injured Wednesday, will have surgery Friday and that a timeline for his return will be determined after the procedure.”

Say what you will about me, but I’m not too broken up about Stuckey’s future with the Pistons. Don’t get me wrong I don’t wish the guy any pain and I know slamming your hand in a car door is painful, but I won’t be missing his antics here in the D.

The injury doesn’t help Stuckey whose future on the team and in the rotation was iffy at best considering all the pieces that Detroit now has and the Stuckey’s issues and recent play. With Brandon Jennings, Singler, Caldwell-Pope and Chauncey Billups on the bench Stuckey may be out before he even gets to play this season.

As much of a headache as Stuck’s been in the past, I really feel like his success is crucial for us this season.

  2. Julian says:

Singler is the key now as the primary back up to Mr Big Shot since KCP will have to earn his playing time this year.

  3. Julian says:

It will be interesting to see how the new look Pistons do against Broolyn tonight. The Nets may be the third best team in the league this year with their big salary roster. Both teams feature new head coaches who happened to be former all star NBA players.
It will be fun to see how Gigi does against NBA talent players if he is healthy enought to play.

    • Markov7 says:

so true about gigi but i as far as i saw him he ll be just fine in the offensive part but if he gets his foot work in D (dunno who ll work with him on that part) i d even take risk with him to be our biggest secret weapon off the bench

  4. Julian says:

Another good game for Dre. Tony and KCP have good games off the bench. Pistons outrebounded the Nets big time.

  5. Need4sheed says:

Stuckey is my favorite Piston. So yes, im pretty pissed about his “freak accident” because this new roster fits his skill set perfectly. This was his time to shine…

  6. Julian says:

No Chauncey, no Stuckey, no Jennings, NO PROBLEM. You still have vets like Singler and Bynum who can ball. Having Sheed work with Dre on his post moves and free throw shooting is a genius move. If he can make foul shots then other teams can use a Hack a Dre tactic on Drummond. Stuckey will be back and getting KCP some playing time will pay off in the long run.

    deeeeeeetroit basketball

  8. edt says:

stuck is like a discount version of dwayne wade except he doesn’t get the whistle like wade does. Neither can shoot. We won’t miss him, trade stuckey for value other teams will want “hey”.

    per 36

    fg% 3p% points
    Stuck 42% 28.8% 16.3
    wade 49% 28.9% 24.1

Wade gets about 2 more fouls called per 36, let’s say 1 is legit and 1 is just for the name so instead of 8.6 for 17.6 per 36 he would get 7.6 for 17.6 per 36 or 43%

Per salary paid, Stuckey is a better value. Like I said a lot of teams will want to use him, he has value on his contract, we can’t because he just can’t shoot, and we need shooters to compliment Dre and Moose.

  9. Julian says:

Jennings also out (tooth). Good chance for Singler to play SG and good chance for the rookie guards to get playing time behind the vets. Billups, Singler and KCP should get plenty of open 3 pt shots this year.

  10. Julian says:

Pistons lose to Bulls last night in Chicago. Rose scores 22 on his return from torn ACL.

Dre lead Pistons in rebounds. KCP lead the team in scoring. Siva lead the team in assists and steals.
This could happen a lot over the next few years I bet.
