Who’s the most intriguing Piston this season?

Andre Drummond

While Joe Dumars decides who’s going to get the 15th roster spot for the Pistons, we have bigger issues here at Need4Sheed.com.  Which Piston should grace November’s schedule wallpaper?

We’ve had some pretty big changes here in the Motor City.  Dumars signed his big free agent Josh Smith, he traded Brandon Knight for Brandon Jennings and brought back two Pistons fan favorites and legends one to play, and one to coach.  They have a new coach and their dynamic duo of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe have more help then we ever thought they would.

Rasheed Wallace and Chauncey BillupsIt’s almost as if in a blink of an eye this team has gone from pathetic to compelling.

I can’t tell you what or who I’m more excited to see, or who is going to play the biggest part this season.  Can Kaldwell-Pope make Pistons fans forget that they could have had Michigan’s Trey Burke? Will Andre make the all star game this season with the help of  Rasheed Wallace as his big man coach?  Will Greg Monroe turn the corner and become unstoppable?  Will Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings be able to change their games to help the team win? Can the Pistons bench do some damage? Will the Italian sharp shooter  Gigi Datome shoot the lights out? Will Mo Cheeks make a difference or will Chauncey Billups be the difference maker?

There are just so many variable to start the season.

So now I’m asking you who  you think is the most intriguing Piston to start this season.  I’ll let you vote on who you think will be the difference maker this season and that player/coach will don the November 2013 Detroit Pistons Schedule Wallpaper here at Need4Sheed.com.

And as an added bonus, the winner of this vote will be the subject of a newly designed t-shirt that I will give away on twitter.

So who’s it going to be?

I believe it’s going to be Josh Smith. Here is a little insight on why: This guy is coming into a situation where he could either be a unreal asset or a cancer that can rot the locker room from the inside out and the effects can be seen on the court almost similar to how the ownership change did to us a few seasons back. We have two-three doctors that can remedy this in Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and, possibly, Mo Cheeks (Even though he’s been known to kinda… rustle a few feathers with higher establishment). I’m not tabbing Brandon Jennings in this quite yet, but I hear he could be also a bit of a problem child, but he’s younger so he probably could be able to mold more than a future 9(?) year veteran (and just by visual comparison from both players press release, it seemed like Jennings was more jovial to be a Piston than Smith. J-Smooth may have said it, but it felt like it more with B. Jennings. Body language is a hell of a thing).

Back on the subject of Smith; He’s, most likely, going to be spending his starting minutes at the Small Forward position, obviously not his strongest suit. Our three best players all operate in the paint and so far. And without any kind of official NBA game time logged any under anybodies belt, I’m just going to say we don’t have any shooters at the moment to space the floor. A 2-3 zone can solve that problem for many people defending Detroit. Especially with teams with huge backcourts. (Like the Grizzlies), this can be a problem. We have Billups and Singler as both established long range men. But, we have another two unestablished marksmen in KCP and Luigi Datome (I’m loving this guy by his name alone. I’ve been calling him WeeGee Datome). They are both /known/ to stroke it from deep, but I wanna see it before I say anything.

Sheesh, this constantly strays away from why I think Smith is going to be the most interesting. Let me refer to the first few sentences. He either can be the guy to help is get to the playoffs.. or he could be the $50 Million Dollar Mistake.

My vote went to Drummond ( easy choice if you ask me), considering we expect him to get more minutes this year and Rasheed will help his confidence as well. I can imagine he has a goal to to be an all star this year so that takes care of the motivation aspect.

Also Natalie, if I win this contest I would love the newly designed T-shirt( not T-shit, rare typo by you in the post)

It’ll be really interesting seeing how all these new pieces fit around Moose…

  4. Bellllissimo says:

Well the 15th player is Josh Harrellson. I’m still bothered we can’t get Slava back. That’s probably the biggest black mark for Joe Dumars this offseason. Not fighting to keep Slava. I was so intrigued by him and wanted to see more. He has great offense and he’s so strong. Once he played in NBA he could of been so good.

  5. Julian says:

So many choices for this answer.
    1. Three new stars added to the team in JSmoove, Jennings and Billups.
    2. Starting role for Dre
    3. Unkown Italian league MVP
    4. New coaching staff
    5. Another lottery pick

Should be a very intriguing season! I think that all the Detroit major sports teams will make the playoffs in 2013.
The Tigers and Red Wings will make it. I think the even the Lions and the Pistons will too.

It’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope he’s a great player and he is a difference maker on anybody team. KCP remember the name.
