The #Pistons took down the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night at the Palace of Auburn Hill 108-101 thanks again to great nights by the young core of the team.  Brandon Knight led the Pistons with 26 points, while Kyle Singler and Greg Monroe added double-doubles.

Key Points:

  • With the win the Pistons are now playing 500 basketball at home.
  • Looks like my prediction came through, Brandon Knight with a season high 26 points looks like he’s got his confidence back.  Though it’s early in the season he’s playing the best basketball of the season right now. In that span of the last three games, he’s averaging 21 points and shooting better than 50 percent overall and from the 3-point line (9 of 16).

  • You have to respect LeMarcus Aldridge, who really is the best kept secret in the NBA.  He led all scores with 32 points, adding 10 boards.  I love to how effortless he makes everything look.
  • Good luck to Rodney Stuckey, it doesn’t look like he’s getting his starting job back anytime soon. And it almost looks like he’s ok with it. Stuckey had 11 points and four assists on the night.
  • Seven Pistons in double figures.
  • Looks like Charlie V has cracked the rotation and his shot is going in. Charlie scored 10 on 4-of-6 shooting in 15 minutes on the floor.

  • Kyle Singler was fantastic Monday night. Do you realize he scored six points and grabbed seven boards in the first 11 minutes of the game. He finished the game with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting with 10 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. He’s making the Need4Swede disappear.

  • Don’t think I wasn’t worried that Detroit was going to collapse in the third quarter when the Trail Blazers went on a 7-0 run, cutting the Piston lead to just 4 points. It was the three that got them back, one from Stuckey, Singler and Charlie V. Singler’s three to close out the third quarter brought the small Palace crowd to their feet.
  • Singler may turn out to be a legitimate candidate for Rookie of the Year.
  • Moose with another great game. He put up 20 and 10 and added another double-double on the season. And don’t forget he contributes everywhere on the court. I just love watching a big guy like that pass the way he does. If he doesn’t make the All Star team it will be a travesty.

Lawrence FrankLawrence Frank: “We had four possessions that resulted in a score where all five guys touched the ball and to have seven guys in double figures and to have a bunch of guys with multiple assists, that’s great. The way I look at is, they shot 42%, but had 17 offensive rebounds, so our first shot defense was good. Obviously we have to be better to limiting them to one shot, but the ball movement, the sharing, that was contagious.”

  • 56 points in the paint for Detroit.
  • The Pistons biggest lead in this one was 15.
  • Drummond with six boards, two points and two blocked shots in 14 minutes on the floor. He may not have put up a handful of points, but his defense gets better every game.
  • This had to be the best Basketball the Pistons have played all season, with everyone really contributing.
  • Prince with 10 and Maxiell with 11. I was off both of their bandwagons starting the season, but I’m back on. You really have to give it up to Prince and Maxiell who are the the unsung hero’s in most of the Pistons wins.
  • They could make it two in a row on Wednesday night when Phoenix makes a stop at The Palace.

the secret to nat’s heart is now clear. Charlie V all you got to do is win, and your childish antics and dumbass tweets suddenly become charming and eccentric. Winning is the difference between wanting to stomp you because of a dumb joke and laughing and high fiving you.

    MORE JONAS!!!!!!!

The smart thing to is to trade Maxiell while he’s hot and one year left on the books, you possibly add Tayshaun and Will Bynum and/or a draft pick if you can and shoot fora distributing point guard ala Greivis Vasquez, Jose Calderon, or even Jamal Tinsley (of course you probably don’t throw all that at a Tinsley) to split minutes with Knight. Go hard for an impact SF like Josh Smith in free agency next season and viola, rebuild complete.

all that is great but if u go for josh smith who do u bench, monroe or andre??calderon?too high contract in my opinion.trade maxiell?who comes off the bench in the future?i personally would like him to re-sign and come as 2nd unit guy and i think he d be ok with that role

    • Jake says:

you wouldn’t throw all of that at any of them. the draft pick is more valuable then them.

      • Markov7 says:

i m not tooinformed about draft 2013 except shabaaz and maybe saric i dunno ne other players that may be on draft next year but if it is about those 3-4 guys terry mentioned i d stick to draft too eventually would give up on rodney

Pistons could use a small forward for the future. Alex Poythress would be a good fit I think. I’m bias because I’m a Kentucky fan tho. Who knows, the pistons could turn it around if the play how they did against Portland and not even be in the top 10.

My boy Singler is 9th in 3 pt % (.471) and 7th in rookie scoring per game.

Some wins are needed now. Great to have them come. Winning is a habit and we need Monroe, Singler, knight and dre to have that attitude, confidence and habit.

Agree on some comments on cv here. Where is the D? Wouldn’t say he has had great games. But I guess JJ was in a rut so why not try. I want JJ back now. Is he sick? His motor seemed to have died out in the last few games.

Tay is a safe option – a safety blanket. Going safe will de risk tngs, but it ain’t no winning strategy. Please play the future more! It will also increase the no of touches everyone gets as you immediately have less slow iso plays on the wing.

Can we hand maguette’s minutes to rooks and JJ please?

    Go pistons
