The Pistons vs. The Spurs

by Natalie Sitto on March 9, 2011

The 23-41 Pistons are back in action to take on the 51-12 Spurs Wednesday night in San Antonio. The NBA leading Spurs will look to bounce back from their first home loss in more than three months when they take on Detroit. A win for the Spurs will make it the first season sweep for San Antonio in 4 years against the Pistons.

  • The good: Ice4Dyess! The Pistons have no chance for a championship that’s why I’m putting all my energy into rooting for Antonio McDyess to get the ring he deserves.

Ice4Dyess

  • The bad: Detroit…
  • The unknown: Will Tracey McGrady ever play?

What does McDyess have to say about the Pistons situation with Rip: “It’s Bad times up there”

tmac threatened not to resign because he wasnt getting minutes, rip hamilton will stage another player boycott if he dont get playin time, and ben gordon becomes a space cadet that cant hit a shot if he dont get at least 25 minutes, what is a coach supposed to do? where do you find time to play stuckey & bynum?

there’s absolutely no rotation that q can play that works

Ooooh, we can’t have T-mac leaving us after this season! :-P

^Is all this information correct, or just a theory?

I bet if he gets the minutes, and showcases how good he still is, he’s still going to leave if another team offers a bigger pay.

Q should grow a pair of ‘nads and go with the youth movement.

q is obviously taking orders from joe d. remember how he put rip back in the rotation? He wasnt gonna do that! He was gonna sit rip infinite, but the word came down from joe d and he started playing rip, same with t-mac.

Q needs to work on his human relations, that is he needs to find a way to sit these bloated ego vets without them staging a mutiny.

matador defense. players with their feet nailed to the floor. worst defensive team in the nba. an opponent who puts up a record breaking 80% shooting half. a defense where first you watch the guy blow by and then you wave your hands like a basketball playing scarecrow in a vain attempt to dislodge the ball

WTF? Stuckey doesn’t start and plays 15 minutes. McGrady starts instead?

Nice second half effort. We could have won it it we are playing the Heat.

*if we are playing the Heat.

But this is a Spurs team who are expected to make a statement after a bad loss to Lakers.

I read this comment somewhere, I think in the T&R section of SI.com, where since the season is practically down the drain, Q should probably train his sights on giving the young players more PT. They’re the ones who are sure to still be in Detroit for the coming years anyway.

So what if TMac threatens to leave? Let him. I’d much rather appease Stuckey – who will be an RFA after this season – rather than a guy we signed on this year just to see if we can help HIM! The rotation the games right before this one was actually sort of working, with TMac glued to the bench.

Maybe Q was just trying to prove a point… we can’t win games if you (TMac) are playing, so we might as well play the younger guys in future games…

Team should be called -etroit Pistons for now, though. Hardly any D out there. I mean, SA shot 64% for the night, after 80% at the half? What the?!?

let t mac leave and fire q seriously. i love t mac but i wouldnt stand for that. we need our rookies to learn and he had a year to teach some of them the game and thats fine by me. pistons looks horrible all isolation game what are we trying to be the heat?

Ok, McGrady showed yesterday he still has some game, and I’m happy to see him get picked up by a better team next year. We shouldn’t care if he threatens to leave. Our team is essentially Stuckey, Monroe, Jerebko, Daye, and maybe Bynum, and the rest is details.
