3 million dollars is a lot for a guy that didnt even average 5 points a game last season.

Sources say the Kings are also still open to trade possibilities, and Detroit and Utah are two teams eager to move up in the draft. The Pistons’ Tayshaun Prince could be intriguing to the Kings, who are eager to add a veteran small forward to the roster.

Minnesota has how many first round picks? There is nothing predictable about this draft after Wall goes #1. That being said – Prince and Hamilton are gone. Big Ben becomes a coach next year after closing out this year wearing the big red 3 – you better give it up Stuck – you had zero business taking that – just like Iverson had no business taking #1.

I still think we’ll end up with Udoh at 7, and some player none of us know anything about at 36.

i know joe has made some mistake but he knows how to build a team and win it all. i have faith that he will find the right moves and ship off ppl so we can develope the younger players. ppl tend to forget every great team has a few years to rebuild hopefully ours i over.

unless one these guys falls to 7, I would take ED DAVIS
1 John Wall
2 Derrick Favors
3 Evan Turner
4 DeMarcus Cousins
5 Wesley Johnson
6 Greg Monroe
7

I’m just ready to see a “new team”. There’s no way you can come back with the same team as last year and expect a different result. I know they had a lot of injuries but even when they had most people healthy they just didn’t look that good. Too many back court players and not enough help up front. Hopefully there will be some action in the next couple months so we have something to be excited about come October.

Rumors are swirlin about the pistons trading prince and the 7th pick to the kings for nocioni(or however you spell it) and the 5th pick so that we can get Cousins. I hope we get it done!

junior June 16, 2010 at 6:23 pm

i like the new mock draft on yahoo sports it has cousins falling to us at 7 withy monroe going to kings at 5 and udoh going to ? at 6. i like that (especially if udoh and monroe are gone those are the two i would like to see in a pistons uniform if not cousins).

Reply

Drew June 17, 2010 at 9:23 am

Um, isn’t Udoh a small forward? How many of those do we need? Geez.

Reply

Lori June 17, 2010 at 9:34 am

Does any one know who is working out for us this week and when?

Reply

Jesse June 17, 2010 at 12:45 pm

Couple things…. Udoh is a PF/C, and is working out with us June 21st. That is the only workout I know of for sure.

I would be ecstatic if Cousins fell to us, but I don’t see how he gets past GS though, even if he doesn’t fit with them on the court his value is too high to pass on. They can hold his draft rights hostage so teams like us will have a bidding war for him.

That Sac deal would be great. I think Noc would play better for us then he did last year, and even though his contract sucks it isn’t too long. Not a bad pill to swallow to get the 5th pick in a big man heavy draft.

I couldn’t have said it better myself, except that I guess it came out that the Rip extension was all Karen Davidson’s fault. Apparently Dumars had a Rip for Boozer deal in place (which is why Rip was extended) and then KD balked at paying Boozer at the last minute… which is completely freakin’ retarded because they had already traded Chauncey & paid Rip, Ben and CV by that point… Why compound your problems? Doesn’t even make sense business-wise to me.

stuckey is going to be a BEAST this year. go to pistons.com and read article on stuck. i think this will be the year he gets that all-star spot. it seems everyone has been hitting it hard this offseason, i think they all have a chip on their shoulders. i like that get some passion back into the game and hustle. im going to call 43wins this year (if not more). GO PISTONS

Reply

junior June 17, 2010 at 8:16 pm

thats without knowing our draft pick. possibly add 4-9 more wins to that with a quality big man.

James (Australia) June 18, 2010 at 2:20 am

Just my opinion, but I really disagree with a lot about that NBADraft.net article. If Gordon and Villanueva don’t work out this year, then fair enough, but to call them two of the worst free agent signings for value ever is, quite frankly, poor journalism. Amazing how jealous people are of the success Detroit has had, and how quick they want to run them down.

It was a bad year, but I really believe there is room for internal growth and with a draft pick and hopefully one good trade. The Pistons should be a playoff team next year.

They don’t need to get rid of Gordon or Villanueva; Hamilton probably; and Rodney Stuckey will be fine with some stability and injury free.

Brian Skull-o-greeny almost earned a double-double in the last game of the Finals: he played 8 seconds and made 11 steps!

Skolodrini to the White House! He will sub Obama!

James, the person who called them the worst FA signings ever wasn’t the author of the article, it was a posted comment.

Sheed tried talking to the refs after game 7. He was probably going to either A) Give them a earful or B) Apologize for giving them hell since 1995 haha. If this is it Sheed, you will be missed dearly.

Reply

Wade June 18, 2010 at 11:51 am

Oh and I pretty much ran around like a school girl last night after Sheed hit that three ball!

celtics played like highschoolers who never played with each other. isolation on every place and peirce couldnt not do anything. a lot of iffy calls but whatever its done. sheed is retiring i think wish him the best, my favorite player out of the game. im gonna miss ball dont lie after every miss. SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED! still love you man

Watching the Celtics lose in a game 7 after getting so close is almost as enjoyable as watching the Pistons win the title in 04. I HATE that freaking team. Hope they enjoyed their one championship after trading their entire team for 2 players. I hope they suck next year and it takes them another 10 or 20 years to be good again. It would serve them right.

Hey, people, I don’t kno what Joe is cooking there, but this trade rumor about Nocioni to Detroit, trade with Kings – it won’t happen. 76ers sent Delambert to Sac for Nocioni and Hawes….

And I don’t think 76ers will trade Brand now too

Hollinger at ESPN has the Pistons ranked 15 on the best NBA team list. What a joke. He has the Pacers, the Thunder, the Trailblazers, the Sixers and the Suns ahead. This guy needs to put the pipe down. For real.

Reply

James (Australia) June 20, 2010 at 8:44 am

15th best of all time?!! That is a ridiculous joke?! This is the problem with Hollinger trying to put stats to everything in sports. Pistons have won the 5th most titles, and been to the Finals the fifth most times. Most Central Division titles, I mean come on what else does he need?

Lakers and Celtics are obviously 1 and 2. Bulls because they did win 6 with Jordan are probably number 2, but from then on I say Spurs and Pistons. When have Phoenix, Houston, or the Magic ever won a title. Lot of respect lost for Hollinger – if your model produces these results, you need to change the model.

terry June 20, 2010 at 11:03 am

I say the pistons should keep their pick at 7 there too many quality players in this draft to waste trade bait on moving up. They should keep the bait to reel in the best player they can in the league via sign and trade or straight up trades. after the free agent sweepstakes are over teams will be a lot more willing to deal. Detroit should sign Rasheed for the veterans minimum for situations where they might need a three pointer. Glad Boston lost, but I wanted both teams to lose.

junior June 20, 2010 at 2:45 pm

sign sheed? u kidding? we were lcky to get him outta here when we did. we dont want him back!!! hes a low 30 percent shooter from the 3 for his career thats not reliable. have you forgot all the 3′s he missed while he was with us? he hits 1 3 late in the ganme 7 to make it close and u forget about the other 5 he misses. ughhh. whatever. hes not coming back. if he does its a one day deal to retire as a piston.

Reply

junior June 20, 2010 at 3:26 pm

omg i just went to yahoo sports and looked at the round 2 predictions for the draft. guess who is getting picked 5th by the wizards? they have dajuan summers!!!!! are they retarded or what? is dajuan re entering the draft? (not a serious question) i guess the pistons were just trying him out for a year. LMFAO. . . . idiots at yahoo sports.

Diogenes June 20, 2010 at 7:03 pm

This is starting to seem like rooting for the Lions. The offseason, the speculation, the draft, the hopes, the preseason, the season – and then yea – the dashed hope. Oh well – “there’s always next year!” I heard we are going to sign that QB from Miami – Scott Mitchell. Superbowl in two years baby!

Reply

James (Australia) June 20, 2010 at 7:30 pm

We can’t sign Sheed to a Veteran’s minimum anyway unless he got his contract bought out, he is signed for two more years to the Celtics. Word has it, he might retire now anyway. You don’t add a Rasheed Wallace unless you are sure you need one more savvy veteran to win a title, the Pistons, unfortunately, are not in that position.

Welcome back Nat. Your break seemed like a year, so glad your back please keep us updated on anything pistons or nba. Need4sheed starts my morning every morning, after lunch, after dinner, and then before bed. This is the greatest website for piston fans thank you for putting out such an amazing product. Can not wait till next season, who knows maybe i would get the chance to meet the women behind the Sheed. Can’t wait for FIBA this summer!!!!! Go PISTONS!!!!

Still fuming over Hollinger’s joke of a rankings. I’m not an insider so I don’t know entirely how he got to us being 15th. The only way I can see him having come up with that is by penalizing the Pistons dreadfully for moving from Fort Wayne – a tiny city at the time that could not profitably run an organization – and also punished the “Bad Boys” culture. Other fans might not have liked the Bad Boys, but the Pistons fans loved it, and it is our identity.

You may not be able to rank teams purely on how many championships they have won, but when teams such as Orlando, Phoenix, and Utah have never won a title and feature in the top ten, there is a serious mistake in how you are coming up with your model.

Reply

Diogenes June 21, 2010 at 6:28 am

There are probably not enough Piston fans forking over the dough for that worthless service at ESPN and being the business that it is, it is catering to it’s customers. If other teams had a kick ass blog like Need4Sheed they wouldn’t waste their money on Insider. Orlando??? How many times did they get knocked out in the first round? Remember McGrady gloating after going up 3-1 on Detroit and how we took it to them after that? Remember how Boston utterly dismantled them this year? We have three titles, and multiple Finals and Eastern Finals showdowns. We had four all stars on the floor at the same time a few years ago. We had how many consecutive 50 win + seasons. WTF?

NBA source says both Detroit & Houston are making a major push to trade w/Minnesota to get Cousins with the 4th pick. “His stock is rising.”

Cousins’ camp is denying my report. Says that “he’s a fan of Philly, NJ, Sac and Detroit. That’s the fact. Nothing more. nothing less.”

A source close to DeMarcus Cousins indicates his preference is to land in Detroit. Feeling is mutual. Not a fan of Sacramento apparently.

If Rasheed Wallace retires, will he retire as a Celtic a Blazer or as a Piston?

Rashit Flawless (Russia) June 22, 2010 at 2:57 am

BOSTON (AP)—Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says that center Rasheed Wallace(notes) is probably going to retire.

Rivers said on WEEI-AM on Monday that Wallace told him before Game 7 of the NBA finals that he believed it was the last game of his career.
