The Pistons vs. The Nets

The Pistons vs. The Nets

The 16-32 Detroit Pistons are back home at the Palace to host the New Jersey Nets. The Nets would like to exact some revenge and The Pistons need to at least try to give some effort and play up to their potential. Yes that was a shot, but do you blame me? Did you see how they lost to Indiana their last two meetings?

Injury Report:
Charlie Villanueva didn’t play last night with back spasms, I am assuming he’s a game time decision though nothing official has been said.

Tip is at 7:30 pm EST and will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit. For the radio broadcast tune in to 104.03 WOMC or follow the action over at NBA.com.

On a personal note, I really hope the Pistons come to play tonight, it’s getting really difficult to watch them…especially in person. I will forever love this team, but it’s depressing leaving the Palace feeling like an even bigger loser than when I walked in the doors.

      You’re fickle.

Remember, this is the nets. They’re 4-45 before tonight and are set to break the worst NBA record in history.

  3. Jonas, stuckey and bynum are keeping the pistons ahead. so much for gordon breaking his shooting slump yesterday, he’s 1 of 4

  4. BigBenWallace says:

Dude, im just happy that Charlie V is stepping up, don’t you want the Pistons to win Astrid?

  5. Hlmk says:

Winning 2 of the last 3 games is nice, but it having been 2 close wins against the nets and a blowout loss against the pacers isnt exactly refreshing :P

  6. The Fan says:

    Ben Wallace 4 Blocks!!!

Ooops.. I posted this in the wrong thread.

I have read this on a forum and am still waiting for a legit source on this.

With the Feb. 18 trading deadline approaching fast, the underperforming Detroit Pistons (16-32 on the season and 3-7 over their last 10) had been trying diligently to move either SG Richard Hamilton or SF Tayshaun Prince. In the Toronto Raptors, they have found a suitor for Prince. Since the season started, Joe Dumars and Pistons brass have been said to be intrigued by possibly adding Toronto point forward Hedo Turkoglu, who could partially relieve starting PG Rodney Stuckey (18.0 PPG, 4.5 APG) of playmaking duties, allowing him to play off the ball more. The Pistons have a stockpile of talented shooting guards (Stuckey, Hamilton and free agent addition Ben Gordon) who would profit a great deal from Hedo’s ballhandling and playmaking skills.

The Toronto Raptors, who signed Turkoglu to a lucrative 5-year contract this Summer, have gotten little production from the Turkish international. With Jarrett Jack and Jose Calderon serving as the Raptors’ two-headed point guard, Turkoglu is primarily used as a wing player, taking away from his ability to direct the offense and cause matchup problems as he did with the Orlando Magic. The Raptors have their eyes set on Detroit small forward Tayshaun Prince, 2004 NBA Champion and Olympian, a solid defender throughout his career. With All-Star forward Chris Bosh likely seeking greener pastures in this Summer’s free agency, Bryan Colangelo call Prince “a guy we have to have”.

According to front-office sources, both teams have verbally agreed on a trade that will send Tayshaun Prince to the Raptors in exhcange for Hedo Turkoglu and throw-in Patrick O’Bryant. League offices won’t be open until Monday, so the trade will most likely be made public on Tuesday.

hedo turkalu? wow bye bye for good detroit defense

  9. edt says:

dont repost that rumor it’s a lie from the raptors forum. NOT TRUE

  10. edt says:

ps we dont have defense right now. The nets are the worst shooting team in the NBA averaging 42%, and vs the pistons they shot 50%. We made them look like the harlem globetrotters. We have absolutely no defense, none zero.

You want to drive? Go ahead? You want to shoot a three? I’m not going to run you off the three. That’s detroit piston basketball.

We are right now, with Ben Wallace, bottom four statistically in the NBA in defense. Don’t look at how low the game scores are, that’s only because the pistons limp up and down the court, which keeps the points low, not because they run out the opponent’s 24 second clock. You need to look at points per possession and we are bottom 4 there.

If Ben Wallace retired tomorrow and we played the nets again, we would not be able to beat them.

We got great shooters. You just gotta ask yourself how is it when jerebko is 6 for 6 and we are shooting above 50% as a team that we only won that game in the last 2 minutes of play?

I’ll tell you. We only played defense in the last two minutes of the nets game.

I wish we could somehow steal Varejao. I hate how he flips around like a fish to draw bogus fouls, but the man can defend, of that there is no question.
