Injury Update – Ben Gordon

Posted · 10 Comments

No good news for Pistons fans this Friday.  Ben Gordon will likely be out for todays game against the Clippers.

Gordon went down hard during on his left ankle and sprained it during Wednesday night’s game. He’s listed as day-to-day, but it’s unlikely Gordon will play tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.
If that’s the case, he will join Richard Hamilton (severely sprained right ankle) and Tayshaun Prince (small ruptured disc) on the sidelines.

Coach John Kuester wouldn’t speculate as to who would replace Gordon after Wednesday’s game — the Pistons didn’t practice on Thanksgiving — but Austin Daye started the second half in place of Gordon against the Cavaliers.

Interestingly, Kuester wants to stress defense right now with so much offense missing.
“One of the things that can’t happen is that players feel pressure to do more than they’re capable of doing,” Kuester said. “We just need to continue to play, continue to defend, and if anything, I want them to feel a sense of urgency not so much offensively as defensively.”  Via The Detroit News

Will Bynum knows he did not play well in Wednesday nights loss to the Cavaliers.

“I can’t play like that when Ben goes out and expect us to win,” Bynum said. “We put too much on Stuckey out there and that was my fault.”

Rodney Stucky:

“I’ve just got to go out there and still try to create for my teammates. They’ve got to be ready to shoot the ball. I tell that to Jonas (Jerebko). When he’s in the corner and we pass it to him, be ready to shoot it.”

Like it or not with three of Detroit’s key players out,  the Rookies are going to get their chance to shine.

The Detroit News also mentioned in that article something about a trade with Chris Kaman. Not sure where they picked up that information but we certainly could use a big guy like him. I wonder if there is any truth to it and who would the Pistons have to give up if the Clippers were willing to deal him
