Which Charlie Villanueva Toon?

Posted · 46 Comments

With all the new Pistons acquisitions I have been a tooning fool lately. I had the most difficult time with the Charlie V toon and didn’t really like how it turned out even though @CV31 told me he liked it..so I made another one…which I’m not too happy with either.

I figured I would get your input…
Charlie V 1.0
Cartoon Charlie Villanueva

Charlie V 2.0

Cartoon Charlie Villanueva

Ultimately I think I have to give Charlie the final decision.

UPDATE Charlie V has SPOKEN…the Winner is!

Charlie V 1.5

Cartoon Charlie Villanueva

Five teams that could be headed for a fall

Monday, we brought you the five teams most likely to make the jump from the Lottery to the Playoffs. For every new team that reaches the postseason, there’s an empty seat on the stage in Secaucus. And somebody’s got to take it.

It’s always easier to find teams that are likely to improve than ones that are likely to get worse. And this summer, it seems like the ones likely to get worse are mostly teams that were bad already. But there are a few teams that made the Playoffs this year and could have some trouble getting back.

Who are they? Here are the top five candidates, with last season’s record in parentheses.

    2. Detroit Pistons (39-43)
With loads of cap space this summer, the Pistons had the opportunity to reload and bounce back from a terrible (by their standards) season. But was signing Ben Gordon for $55 million and Charlie Villanueva for $35 million the best way to spend their money?

Both players are talented, but limited. Neither seemingly does anything to help the Pistons restore their reputation as a tough, defensive team. And the Pistons are still lacking any sort of interior presence in the paint.

Allen Iverson and Michael Curry are gone, and hopefully, they take the chemistry problems of last season with them. But new coach John Kuester will need to establish a new identity in Detroit and get his players to buy in, because with Toronto and Washington getting stronger over the summer, reaching the Playoffs will be more difficult this season.

told ya pistons didnt get any better

  15. Drew says:

I said the second one. You need to offer a different one for B. Gordon too: the existing one looks way too happy to be Gordon; I’ve never seen his face like that too.

  16. Stucktaculer says:

    FIRST ONE!!!!!!!!

  17. kentucky says:

the second one looks very similar to his espn.com pic, but the red headband looks like his hair with the need4sheed.com lettering over the top of his head. I would consider moving the headband down a tiny bit.

  18. T says:

Hey Nat what program do you use to create these toons is it IllustratorCSs? Just curiouse.

  19. To answer the question how do I toon?

I hand draw them in photoshop with the help of my Wacom Graphics pad.

  20. Vanalope says:

I like the 2nd one better but since Charlie V reads this blog and has communicated with Nat, I agree she should just let him pick what he likes best.

  21. Ryan says:

I’m glad you form your own opinions instead of believing everything you read and taking it to absolute heart.

    Oh wait.

  22. Ryan says:

Well that was nice of you.

  23. Hasn’t chimed in yet…I will let you know when I do.

  25. Richie says:

I think you’ve arrived at a perfect compromise!

  26. Moe Nas 21 says:

The first one looks better. But Charlie v should choose which one he loves best. Nice Work Nat. Keep it up.

  27. Gravity1 says:

I Like The First One Or The 1.5 But Like SOme Of The Other Have Said Let Him Choose Witch One Is More Suitable For Him

CV posted it up on his twitter page for feedback,

  36. Amer ican Prince says:

1.5 is good. I liked the subtle changes you made did a world of good. And to be honest the 2.0 one looked too much like Lebron James to me haha

    Good Job Nat

  37. T says:

You are very talented I am going to school for animation and gaming design I use photo shop, that is so cool, you must have been drawing all your life, your art looks just like the players. I have never used and Wacom Graphics pad yet though. I am interested to see how it works.

  38. ryan ricafort says:

Hey Nat, how about tooning us N4S readers. 😀

  39. jesse says:

    Haaaa ryan
That made me laugh, actually.. But I got to say I do agree with the article when it comes to our paint presence… A front line of kwame, wilcox, charlie and jerebko is weak to me. When the cavs come to call, who’s going to handle varejao, the big diesel, anddd big Z?! I domt even want to go into what would happen when facing up against boston’s perkins, garnett, sheed and big baby! We should have tried to trade for a tyson/emeka/amare kind of big.

  40. Chris says:

man im glad were going with this one

  41. detroitfan says:

#1 make another one of ben gordon now i would like to see his

  42. Trav says:

Im glad to have a Ninja Turtle on the team, its been a childhood dream. TURTLE POWER!
