Could Rip Have A New Role?

Posted on January 13th, 2009 by Natalie Sitto

With Rip possibly coming back for tonight’s game against the Bobcats, Pistons fans are still wondering just how he’s going to fit in the new lineup.  Some say AI should be the sixth man, some think it should be Rip, some think their time should be split.  The thing is, Curry may not know what he’s doing until game time. Either way, some egos will bruised or the Pistons will be putting a less efficient team on the floor.

I don’t know about Iverson’s other skills, but Rip should really think about taking a back seat on the team. It seems that his singing career could blow up if only he had the right management.

Ha ha I like how you looped the end of the video. I’m thinking he should stick to b-ball. As for who should be the sixth man I really do think it should be RIP. it would only be for the rest of this year and he would be very well rested for the playoffs. Ego aside do whats best for the team.

Rip cannot create his own shot very well – AI can – if he finds it – the last few games he has been ICE

I don’t think I could of said it any better than Drew Sharp in this article. Well actually I probably could, but the fact is I agree with everything he said in this article, from AI to Rip, and Michael Curry.

One other reason that wasn’t said in the article that I think AI needs to come off the bench is I want to see him sacrifice something for this team. He keeps talking about how he’s committed but his actions show a different story. But if he is then this shouldn’t be a big deal for him. I’m just really not feeling AI on this team and I want to see him do something and show some heart ON BOTH SIDES OF THE COURT.

Plus remember how well they played after the Milwaukee game when he came off the bench. We see it has potential to work.

but it seems everytime I suggest something, the team does the opposite, so maybe I should start saying what I don’t want to happen, to make what I want to happen, happen.

oh and I agree with what Jeff said above which is another reason AI can come off the bench easier than Rip.

Plus if Michael Curry wasn’t lying when he said it’s about defense, who is the better defender in your guy’s mind, Rip or AI? At least Rip tries on defense.

Overall I doubt AI will come off the bench because I don’t even believe this year is about winning for Joe D, it’s about keeping the fans till the offseason, that was the whole reason for the AI trade, to keep fans interest.

And Michael Curry always looks terrified that I’m not sure if he is as confident as he is trying to portray.

Come on Pistons, get over your egos and get Dyess his ring.
