How Deep is This Roster?

October 27th, 2008 Written by: Natalie Sitto

We all know that Detroit didn’t make any major moves this summer and will be starting the season on Wednesday with very familiar faces. With that said, when you look at what Detroit has at the end of the bench are you more confident in this team than you have been in the past?

Personally I am looking at this season in a very positive way. As much as we all like the usual suspects, I’m looking forward to seeing more of Detroit’s youth movement. I have been on the Amir and Maxiell bandwagon since it’s first trip and can’t wait to see more of both of them this season. Rodney Stuckey has proven what he can do, so that’s another glimmer of hope for this season. And Afflalo has proven (to me at least) that he’s even better than expected when drafted. The big question here is the rest of Detroit’s bench?

Do the Walters’, Samb, Brown, Bynum and Acker have what it takes to help Detroit make another run at the title?  Blaha and Kelser broke it down for us the other night on the FSN Broadcast.

I love our bench, and I’m particularly excited to know that we have a coach who will actually utilize them. 12>5.

I think Will Bynum is a bit selfish. He’s always looking for his own shots, probably used to be the main man on those other squads he played for.
We’ll probably play Acker more than him anyways.

i remember acker 3 years ago, missed his first layup lol, but u knw, how would u feel the first time in the nba, but i thought he was gone from the pistons, until tht game in grand rapids i saw him play, i bet he was improving big time to try and get into the pistons rotation, i have to say he really improved

as for maxiell, lik wtf i have a feeling everytime pistons vs a team the coach of the team knows how maxiell plays and they foul him everytime he goes for the dunk , 2 years ago when the pistons lost to the cavs in east conf finals, he was a beast tht same year and was dunkin and shooting over everyone, now hes always getting fouled and blowing those free throws, he needs to work a little more on thoughs free throw and concenetrate harder

Sharpe is a great player, the only problem i had was his first preseason game against the bucks, he didnt even know who he was gaurding :P but, he is a great player, and has a better shot then i thought he would have
