Pistons – Magic Game 4

by Natalie Sitto on May 10, 2008

The Detroit Pistons vs. The Magic

Chauncey or no Chauncey, that is the questions. I am sure like me, many of you have been checking news sources diligently as to whether Chauncey is going to play in Orlando for Game Four. As of right now he’s a game time decision, so we wait.

My guess is – best case, Chauncey dresses and gets some time on the floor to see how he feels. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a injured Billups out there starting the game only to make matter worse. Color me red, white and blue, but I think a Chaunceyless Pistons team can get it done today.

Meanwhile, The Orlando Sentinel is acting as Childish as ever (Thanks to Junior for the link). I thought they may have taking enough ribbing from the whole mask thing, but come on you’re a newspaper right? And they get on bloggers for not being professional.

I’m sure Mr. Stuckey will be ready come game time and you can probably put money on seeing Lindsey in uniform today. Detroit looks like they are going to concentrate on shutting down Rashard Lewis after the game he had Wednesday.

Don’t forget Game time is at 5:00 PM and will be locally broadcast on FSN (regular and HD) and Nationally on ESPN. If you can’t catch it on TV you can always tune in to 1130 AM WDFN The Fan or stream it live through your computer at NBA.com.

Thank goodness we get a Blaha back for tonights game. You know the drill, leave ‘em in the comments.

It’ll be great having Mr. Blaha back for tonight.

I’m with you Nat, Pistons can get it done either way.

lets look at this an opportunity to prove nationally that pistons is built to win games with team basketball….i wanna see in the headline tomorrow, “no chauncey, no problem”

Mark May 10, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Why don’t the espn announcers just perform a sex act on Dwight Howard the way they are talking him up constantly?

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 2:30 pm

Thank god for FSN.
Here comes Lindsey…

Pistons can’t make any shots!
Very aggrivating.

Reply

Justin May 10, 2008 at 2:52 pm

First they make Reggie Evans look like Wilt Chamberlain against the 76ers and now Marcin Gortat hits a left handed shot??? Come on stones….don’t let these scrubs beat you.

What was that stupid time-out called for? Flip calls it with a little over .8 seconds, and it amounts to nothing. He looks so foolish sometimes. :(

Not very encouraging to be down 11, all of sudden, at the half.

Reply

detpistonsfan May 10, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Time outs are given per half. If they don’t use them, then it just disappears, it doesn’t transfer. So Flip did a good job to prevent a even bigger deficit. That wasn’t a bad half considering sheed is just warming up with the turn around and stuckey will just get more comfortable.

Reply

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 3:21 pm

It’s bad because they were down 4 with two minutes to go, and ended up down 11.

Detroit needs to take better control of the ball, and look for the right shots. These empty possesions hurt.

Maybe Joe can give them another pep talk.

Jarvis Hayes dressing over Amir!?! Come on!! I haven’t spotted Amir yet on the sidelines any ideas where he is at?? He has been a great cheerleader during the series it’s sad to not even see him tonight.

Reply

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 3:32 pm

I thought that was a mistake too.
We could use Amir defense right about now.

uyen May 10, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Nice little run my Pistons. Lets keep it up.

Reply

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 3:47 pm

don’t look now….

A 15-0 run is certainly one way to come back from a 15 point hole.

Reply

Eric May 10, 2008 at 3:48 pm

We can’t let up. We saw what happened last time when we got within 4, and then lost by 25. But keep the D up. They’ve gone cold from 3! …for now..

Mark May 10, 2008 at 3:54 pm

Hunter!! An animal!!!

Reply

Eric May 10, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Hunter reminded me of what he did in game 1 against the Cavs two years ago, and then what he did this year in our first game against Boston….so timely.

This is what we wanted. We have 12 minutes to beat this team, we can do it!

A classic Sheed reaction to that foul. Natalie I think you need to post that as a video lol.

Reply

That was a bullshit call on Tay

Reply

T. Kinslow May 10, 2008 at 4:15 pm

@ uyen: Yep, he flopped, but Rip’s been doing it all night so I’m not going to complain.

I’m jealous of you peeps able to watch this one called by Blaha. They need to send this annoying Doris chick on ESPN back to WNBA games.

Championship teams have players step up when obstacles come up and we did that tonight!

Stuckey and Lindsey combine for 14 pts, 6 assists, 4 boards, 1 steal, and, most importantly, 0 turnovers!

Tay was unreal and has easily been our MVP so far in the playoffs.

Dice played his ass off tonight – 14 boards, 8 pts, great defense.

Sheed stepped up big time in the 2nd half.

Rip. WOW!

Would’ve liked to see a few more substitutions, but it’s time to give some credit when it’s due – Flip did a great job tonight. Pretty gutsy to not call a TO there at the end, but he did it right.

I LOVE THIS DAMN TEAM

ric May 10, 2008 at 5:12 pm

speaking of team experience and championship team, completely lack on turkoglu…..why would u wait 3secs to take the last shot, what if u miss? which happened! well that just says he may be a good closer, but not good enough as prince.

Reply

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 5:34 pm

If turk makes that shot, Pistons have no time to put a play together.
It’s a gamble, Chauncey did it that first win in Boston this year, drew the foul, made the shots, Boston had no time to come back.

Difference is, playoffs have no room for error. You make it you’re a hero, you miss it you’re the goat.

Reply

ric May 10, 2008 at 5:43 pm

good point fluidics….oh well, a W is a W…..what kind of freaking excuse does orlando has now? the turk was fouled? i wouldn’t be surprise….orlando cannot win games with dwight scoring less than 20.

Reply

Eric May 10, 2008 at 5:53 pm

Yeah, and did you guys see the follow by Howard? I don’t know how he missed it, it looked like he had a good chance to put it back…would have been a killer.

Reply

detpistonsfan May 10, 2008 at 5:56 pm

Yeah, good game. Let’s just hope the magic don’t have a Tayshaun Prince on their bench (JJ Redick,Gortat, or veteran Brian Cook) that can help them do to us what we did to them a couple of years ago. Stuckey and the bench got to play a lot better at home to close out the series.

I agree with you marcus that doris girl was annoying, but I thought that story about RAsheed visiting the Tuskeegy airman rather than going to chapel hill was pretty cool.

Lindsey really made these guys play unselfish. No was trying to do too much. Awesome.

The d really made it DETROIT BASKETBALL. People diving on floor Dyess getting rebounds. This is the first game I felt had a playoff atmosphere in this series.

More Lindsey please. He was very nice.

And btw the refs were on orlando’s side today and I don’t usually make comments like that.

Reply

Marcus May 10, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Oh yeah, I agree that the story was awesome — giving the general public more of an insight into how complex Sheed is, and not just some “crybaby”.

Also had to love Dyess showing some MMA skills with the takedown on Howard haha. I’ll take that for a double-T. Natalie, I hope you can get a good clip of that one and Tay’s block on Evans! =D

this win reminds me of game six against jersey in ’04 . a real turning point in the title chase . have faith in the boys . they’ll get it done this year .

Pretty amazing win. I heard someone (Greg or George) say the pistons are the first to win on the road this post season…is that true? if it is, we are so bad ass.

Reply

Richie May 10, 2008 at 8:40 pm

HUGE win today. Winning without Chuncey and in Orlando is incredible. It let him rest and prevernt making his injury any worse. It also made a psycological dent in the magic, showing them that we can beat them in their house without our all-star floor general.
Most importantly, the Pistons did it with a balanced attack. No one person took over; ‘Sheed helped hold Howard to an 8 & 12 game. Lindsey actually played more minutes than Stucky, and commited zero turnovers, a block and a steal in the proccess. Rip and Tay both shot 50% and nailed buckets when we needed them. And our man McDyess was an animal on the boards with 14 (two more than Howard) especially when we needed them down the strech. I love this team.

David May 10, 2008 at 8:59 pm

don’t look now guys, but we’re headed to our sixth straight conference finals, and we should have some rest since cleveland won tonight. the west has 4 really good teams in it, but we can beat all 4 of them.
and i’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself, but imagaine this:
Tayshaun Prince, NBA Finals MVP.

Reply

The Fluidics May 10, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Best part of those 4 teams, is we only have to beat one of them, lol.

Nothing but confidence right now, Pistons showed huge heart tonight.

Reply

palaceprince May 10, 2008 at 9:43 pm

David, don’t forget pistons came back from 3-1 to beat the magic a couple of years ago but I do think the stones will wrap it up. The pistons are the first team to win a road game in the 2nd round. Tays winning shot was very nice but give all of the credit to Dyess who got the offensive rebound and gave us a chance. Dyess has more heart than anyone out there. Lets hope we can wrap things up on tuesday. GO PISTONS!

Reply

Livedrupo May 10, 2008 at 10:25 pm

Why talk about beating the west when we have to go through Boston first? Also, if Utah somehow advances to the finals, we are screwed.
