NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad did a fantastic piece on The Zoo Crew this past week. It was great opportunity for the rest of the country to see what the Pistons youth bring to the table.
I do have a very small issue with one thing in the story. When Amir Johnson was introduced, he was referred to him as a former D-League player. Not that that isn’t the truth, but it doesn’t really tell his tale correctly if you didn’t know much about him. It just doesn’t paint the right picture if you ask me (I know, I’m being ridiculous). Other than that, it’s a wonderful segment.

FINALLY, The Zoo Crew with some recogniztion. *Chuckles* I’m happy for them. So it’s safe to assume that Maxiell is the Ring Leader of this Zoo, huh? Since he is the quote, ‘Original’ Bench ‘Starter’, unquote.

I can understand what you are saying Nat, it sounds as if the Pistons picked him up from the D-League and signed him to a contract
rather than drafting him.
But it looks like Maxi is the new sheed. The way he got behind Jarvis like that is the same as Sheed did to Reggie Miller but of course there will never be another sheed.

looks like Tay is injured hes on the injured list on Yahoo sports saids he has a bruised right elbow hope hes fine for the game tom
March 11, 2008 at 8:52 am
No Natalie, you’re not being ridiculous, it’s misleading to refer to Amirzing as a “former D-leaguer”- that sort of reference is met for players like Jamario Moon who has worked their way out of obscurity. Considering the contract we just signed him to and the interest shown by other teams in him this summer, he was a prospect with considerable ‘upside’. No worries, I balked at that statement too. They should have said ‘former highschool standout’ or ‘the last player drafted out of highschool’. Only a piston fan gripes about this stuff!!

walter herrmann is way too good to be detroits renee dupree, he wasn’t even mentioned in the video
March 11, 2008 at 10:21 am
Haha “Renee Dupree”
I actually feel sorry for Ronald. I read more about him, turns out we drafted him and he’s been on the Pistons like 3 or 4 different times. I really hope we can bring him back next year as our 12th or 15th man if we happen to lose some of our players to free agency/injuries.

natalie,
dunno if anybody else mentioned it, but espn.com’s daily dime did a special today on the 10 best shooting guards of all time, and joe dumars is on the list at 10.

I’ve never liked him.

Um Natalie are we ever going to see clips from Rip’s In My Own Words.
March 11, 2008 at 4:59 pm
I was a little disappointed when they referred to amir as a former D league player they should have said a player drafted out of high school, who pent sometime in the D league developing his skills, well something like that… I liked the segment, its good to see a bench getting some love because they have been great this season the best bench out there
March 11, 2008 at 5:26 pm

Anonymous @ 8:26… why do you care so much? Why does it bother you that the fans support a player they like? You might not like him but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? And that goes to any other player who some of you hate that we love so much… I mean come on now, whats wrong with it?
March 11, 2008 at 6:18 pm
I think they said former d-league player to descibe Amir because he did so well there and that is where he spent the majority of his time for his first two seasons. I was disappointed with this video; Amir and Rodney didn’t speak, Arron, Jason, and Jarvis didn’t say anything significant and Chauncey & Rip only reiterated what the other three bench players said.
March 11, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Hey, how come Walter wasn’t included?? Any white guy with big hands and hustle deserve to be in the Crew!
